My sister re-tweeted something which I saw last week. It was from a Manchester United fan who said they were practising for their game at Liverpool this Sunday by singing about me in their game v Spurs.
The song goes: “Diego, wooah, Diego, wooah; He came from Uruguay, he made the Scousers cry.”
I’ll be honest; I get goose bumps every time I hear it. I can be in Brazil or Uruguay, Japan or Spain watching a United game on television and hear it.
It is so flattering.
I’m not Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes or another United legend, nor am I the only player to have scored at Anfield, so it feels a privilege to be remembered.
I recall how I was getting so few minutes in the team before United played at Anfield in December 2002 that I really wanted to enjoy the game.
I was training but not playing, but something happened that day that would make it one of the greatest moments of my life and still be sung about to this day.
I scored two as United beat Liverpool 2-1 away.
When I’ve retired from club football I plan to go in that end with the United fans behind the goal.
I’ll put a hood up and keep my head down – not everyone in Liverpool would be delighted to see me. But I can’t sing about myself. Someone else needs to score two that day.
Liverpool did all they could to draw, but we held on. I went into the dressing room and Gary Neville was the first to come up to me as we celebrated.
He looked me in the eyes and said: “Maybe you don’t realise what you have just done, but they’ll never forget you here after that.”
I always remember that. I knew there was a big rivalry, but I didn’t fully understand it. I was a guy from Montevideo, how would I?
By KidjrDo we think the recent results\table are an indication of the quality of the squads or just a bad day in the office for liverpool and tottenham against man u?
I think both Spurs and Liverpool both played their worst 45 minutes of the season against United. It's been a long time since either team looked so feeble.

What a delightful man.
It's great to see Mata on the pitch again. It genuinely made me a little angry the other week seeing him on the bench whilst Utd were getting hammered by Arsenal. I absolutely love the guy and he is in a different class to the likes of Ashley Young and Adnan Januzaj. I was really impressed by Blind. He utterly humiliated the world class Emre Can.
Sky's analysis of that game was strange though. It was mostly Carragher bleating on about how Gerrard plays with his heart and how great he was in Instanbul. No mention of Skrtl's stamp.

Just a coincidence innit
United have just looked so much more balanced in recent weeks. Herrera and Carrick in the middle do a great job with the ball, and the fact that Fellaini offers a physical presence forces defenders to go to him and gives opportunities for Mata and Young to get in behind. The thing with the current team is you've effectively got three playmakers in Carrick/Herrera/Mata, so they can drift and move around and the defence has to close them down or they can really take a team apart. Having only one out-and-out striker is really helping because it means we're able to control the game better.

Ok so bad day at the office, it can happen, Spurs did it to us at white heart lane so I can see how can that happen.
Just, when it happens twice in a row, it makes me wonder.
I might actually be looking forward to Arsenal Liverpool it should be a good game providing both teams turn up.

By GurthangIt wasn't offside
It was 100% offside, I do not see on what planet its not.
When Penaldo made contact with the ball, Bale was not offside.
The problem was when the ball was first passed to Ronaldo, he himself was offside. So he is the one who the call went against not Bale.
Good catch by the ref.
By dark_prinnyBy GurthangIt wasn't offside
Amazing. Evidence is right there. They will still refuse to believe it.
Search Bale disallowed goal on youtube, and you will find people believing the same thing.
Do people not know how the offside rule operates.
By PhlebasBy dark_prinnyBy GurthangIt wasn't offside
Yeah definitely off. Correct call in the end.
Your honesty is welcome.
League is far from over anyway.

Tell me Yurt bb how is it?
the hype is justified.
this isn't honeymoon period Yurt talking, I've openly criticized Dark Souls 2 since day one, so trust me when I tell you this is the real deal
Not to take too much of your time but as this is my first souls game, would you mind giving a little more info as to what makes this game so good?
You've picked the worst possible person haha. You're better off waiting for the reviews! Like, I know I love Viva, but I dunno why? Is it because of his alluring tan? His bizarre love for biscuits? Or is it because he keeps rejecting my advances? Beats me, all I know is that he's my bb
Lets see. So far, it really feels like an open world Castlevania, the levels are so delightfully designed and filled with surprises and traps in every corner, you really do feel like you're in an adventure of some sort in a fucking hellish and dangerous place. The non-linearity is a bit overwhelming at first but you'll find yourself progressing organically (is that even the right usage of the word?) without feeling 'hand held'
What I love the most is the utterly visceral fast paced combat! A welcome change compared to DS's turtling behind a shield shenanigans
And I'm only in World One. I hear the other levels all feel and look different
The BloodBorne preview thread on G.A.F. has become a shitstorm of concern posting, and people claiming they wont buy because sony is not lifting review embargo earlier.
Some people take things too far, there even is a guy who will refuse to play games under a certain metacritic score. What is happening with this world?

Liverpool have had the longest spell of consistently good form of the three sides, which basically just came to an end against Swansea/us.
But they were worse than us in the first couple of months of the season and Spurs have been pretty patchy also. Plenty of wins by the odd goal where Kane or Eriksen bailed them out.
Can't really say with any conviction that we have been a better side than either this season, but I think we've been the better side in all 4 games against them so that probably suggests something.
Things:
1. Those Forlan quotes are gorgeous. Lovely bloke, lovely player. Wish he'd stayed a bit longer and reached the quality he showed at Atleti, but love him all the same.
2. No coincidence that Spurs and Liverpool had their worst games for a long time. We just played very well.
3. Yurt, pls will I like Bloodborne? I love the look of it and I like the sound of fast paced action. I just don't want to be frustrated as fuck and give up two levels in.

I don't play games unless they either have 90 metacritic score or FootySL&NT spends 50 pages talking about it.

I dunno tbh Nathan
The opening section (up to the first boss, which is 30 min to 1 hour in) can be a bit frustrating until you learn the mechanics of the game (remember, you're kinda new to the series) and ins and outs of the combat. But as soon as it 'clicks', OH BABY...there aint no unclicking that
It's Dark Souls with (a vastly superior) faster combat in a much more interesting world and more forgiving checkpoints.
The potion drops are quite frequent too. I'd say they drop 40% of the time so you can basically heal up all you want after every encounter without worrying too much about saving them for bigger fights
By CCSUnitedSLAENT, what would you say our best team is?
The one from yesterday. On paper of course ADM and Shaw should be in the team, but the one we're playing right now has worked. No reason to change it unless there's injuries.

That's my feeling too. Maybe Rojo in for Jones, but apart from that I'd keep it the same.

I'd still probably but in ADM over Young and Shaw for Blind, also Rojo for Jones. Although I do think it would be quite harsh dropping the first two.

I'd probably bring in Rojo and maybe ADM, but I'm not so sure about Shaw. At this stage in the season footballing intelligence is vital and it seems to me like Blind is a smarter player than Shaw.
United's game plan and tactics were exceptional in the first 30 minutes of the game, and that is why we played such a terrible half. They took control over the ball, forced us to sit deep (where we are never comfortable), and then pinged it forward to Fellaini's head. The truth is that they never really made any good chances outside of the goals, which is exactly what you'd want from an away performance. They killed off our game before we ever got started. When we took hold and got some sustained periods of possession we started to show our quality, but any chance of a comeback died the instant Steven Gerrard decided to end his Liverpool career in embarrassing style.

Yeah, I don't remember who it was but someone made the point that when you've got Fellaini pushing forward against you then you can't commit too many men because you can't afford to leave him one on one. Also, Jones and Smalling didn't make any major cock ups, and when they play well its a solid defensive unit, especially with Carrick in front. Playing Sterling so deep was a big mistake I feel, Blind is a smart and reliable player but his biggest weakness defensively is his lack of pace, Sterling could have really exploited that but with Liverpool being forced to sit deep he never really got any chance to run at Blind.

Young actually did a decent job tracking back for Blind
By CCSUnitedSLAENT, what would you say our best team is?Yesterday's team was good, but I have always felt United is the sort of team that has to have 15/6 with the likes of ADM, Shaw, Rafa and RVP staking a claim to being starters as well guaranteed starters, its the sign of a class team and rotation which Fergie was a master of rotaion, its something LVG has to do if he is to make additions to the team.
By SlizzYoung actually did a decent job tracking back for Blind
He did, part of the reason I'm not sure if he should drop out or not. While Di Maria is more of an attacking threat, he doesn't do so much to cover back, and against teams like City we're going to need to give Blind some protection or he'll be overrun.
