By Arnie Go To PostWell spending is relative to adding value to the squad or replacing value. It’s not a complicated or outlandish thing to take into account.
But I understand why some would like to ignore it.
Especially Shanks who’s a demented soul.
To add, as if spending money you’ve gained from player sales is at all the same as spending hundreds of millions and never losing your best players.
In the last half-decade we lost Torres, then Suárez, then Sterling, and then Coutinho, to clubs bigger and richer than us. We’ve been in a constant state of rebuilding over the years. Not even close to the same as teams who can spend and don’t fear losing their top performers season after season.
By ATTICUS H Go To PostHow does the Fred gazump compare ?It was a time travel gazump, as United had a scout go back to the past to tell them about the Jorginho situation.
Favourably, I hope
By Laboured Go To PostWe need to have a national conversation about the top less pale lads. It getting ridiculous.
Glenn Loovens and this Baldwin lad we're signing today (hopefully) are the only two players we've signed that I've ever heard off. I don't like this.
By Oddinho Go To PostWitcher 3 DLC has me so moist. This has to end eventually doesn’t it :(The dlc or the moistness? The dlc ends.
cumming home
By Arnie Go To PostI thought the Russian lad was a winger not a CM? Could be totally wrong.
Didn’t Zaha also remove mention of Palace from his Instagram bio?
About as much winger as Ramires was. As in only when Mou is feeling upset.
By ATTICUS H Go To PostHow does the Fred gazump compare ?City backed away from Fred some time before Utd got him (articles back in Feb/Mar saying we'd ended our interest), so I don't think you guys gazumped anyone for him per se. The Jorginho one though is a definite gazump. And a very frustrating one that I think all City fans will puzzle over for awhile.
Favourably, I hope
Back from a week in Blackpool with Lady Cola, apparently we havent bought anyone, should I be worried?

I’m in Formentera with the missus. Listening to football podcasts staring at the sea.
By Cleff Go To PostWe are definitely getting maguire then. YES.
A bit dumb to renew his contract last season. What the fuck was that decision about.
edit: oh wait, Delaney...
Apparently, Wooders has been trying to convince Mou to go for Neymar, Mbappe and Bale this summer but Mou told him to do one as he wants hardworking wingers as opposed to flamboyant ones.
Also, Mou's considering using Matic at CB if we don't get a new CB in.

I'm curious too.
What kind of a woman could manage to get Cola to go on a trip for a week with her, when this is a guy who broke his own nose to get out of going to a party.

When did this happen?
Does she go on the gump runs?

By Flutter Go To PostHas Spurs found a Dembele replacement yet? Because that's one thing they are lacking in.
Dembele has looked worse and worse in a matter of months.
Edit: McTominay is the closest to a Dembele substitute. Honest.
Please take him.
Our midfield is completely fucked at this moment in time. Wanyama has done his knee again. Winks is not fit after an ankle surgery. Dier and Dembele do not return until 5 days before the first game. The only CM who will have had a full preparation is Sissoko. Grealish is fine as a challenger to Dele but expecting him just take Dembele's role in the team is mad, especially as he will not be with us until after the pre-season tour.
The foreign players quota will sort itself out if we lose Toby, Dembele, Sissoko, Llorente etc. They will all need replacements so the quota isn't a real concern. The concern is that we won't have a proper teamsheet on the first day.

Would be amazing if like Bungie says, he buys Martial instead of going for someone for mid.

Looking at Spurs transfer history though, it would probably be another signing at the final day of the transfer window.
My guess is 40 million for Joe Allen.
If we don't sign a quality CM and CB then there is no way we can afford to let Toby and Dembele go. Levy and Poch must have some players in mind for those positions.
Seems particularly reckless waiting until later in the window when everyone knows that the transfer window ends early and selling clubs will be keen to take advantage

£10m valuation difference between United and Spurs for Toby accordimg to Miggy.D.
Sell Rojo and pay up.
Then buy a RW.
Then get rid of Mou

Unfortunately this might be what you have to do when you’re trying to compete in the same market as the other clubs without the same financial resources
By Laboured Go To PostApparently, Wooders has been trying to convince Mou to go for Neymar, Mbappe and Bale this summer but Mou told him to do one as he wants hardworking wingers as opposed to flamboyant ones. You'd think that after 5 years on the job Woodward would realise he's incapable of signing these kinds of players. It just wastes time that could be spent signing more attainable targets.
Also, Mou's considering using Matic at CB if we don't get a new CB in.
This isn't to say I agree with the players Mourinho wants to sign either. We have some very talented forwards that he hasn't a clue how to use effectively. He just wants the hardworking ones because they'll stick to his plan.
Think Woodward is capable.
Problem is it takes a shitload of money and not worth the time. Especially when there's the fullback situation that still needs to be addressed.

Was always gonna be a tall order for Spurs to make big new signings and take that step up in competetive wages in the same summer that they finish their stadium which went well over projected cost iirc, especially when nobody reached their valuation for Aldeweireld.
Surprised they haven't gone for a cheap midfielder and striker though given how late Kane and Dier will return, Dembele's decline, Wanyama's injuries and Llorente not being good enough. Obviously its tough to find a reliable decent striker for a decent price but still.

A few points:
- We obviously have money to spend it’s not all going on wage increases and a stadium that we’ve been planning for years
- It’s difficult to find the level of player we need to improve the squad without going £15-20m above what we have spent previously
- When we identify those players we are competing against clubs with greater financial resources, and more crucially those that have no problem paying stupid money to agents.
- Despite all of this we are still competing at a high level where it matter, i.e. on the pitch. And we’re performing better than clubs that have it much easier in the transfer market.
- It’s not a good strategy to bring in extra bodies in order to fill the gaps that exist for a few weeks. You’re just wasting space in your squad.

I'd have thought you'd be looking to cut the likes of Llorente and Sissoko loose though. Those are half-gaps in the squad if you know what I mean, similar to our backup strikers. They're there, but you're still fucked if they have to play any meaningful number of minutes.
All sounds a bit Arsenal to me tbh
