So Anthem is basically GTA Online with a Destiny skin. That's what I've learned over the last 30 minutes.

So like in Star Wars Battlefront 2, they give you skins and emotes that you can put on the characters.

Mass effect gameplay was fun so BioWare stories being nothing new wasn’t that big of a deal
Focus more on gameplay and just put a generic story on it bc replayability is what matters more.

the last few bioware games haven't had interesting stories at all. its all been character driven and world building expos.
i feel bad for the guys being yanked off of The Old Republic, but they did a damned good job with that too

Yeah it hits the same spots that gambling does. People get addicted over this shit and since there's no money to win it's unregulated.
How it any different than what 2k, Madden and Fifa do with their digital cards or whatever they call it? You spend money, open a pack of cards and then you get whatever random power up or shoes or ability boost. I'm ignorant to these fantasy card games as well to be honest.

Just a different audience and therefore you hardly got people speaking up against the FUT card games.
I'm always somewhat suprised. Had some people that I knew spending a couple of hundred bucks for those shitty cards, that are essentially worthless after the season is over. It's truly mindblowing how wasteful some people can be.

those card packs ARE lootboxes.
but i think you can at least trade or sell them, which you usually can't with lootboxes.
The simple answer is that sports gamers are whores and have zero standards in the first place. Madden fans have been happily buying the same shit since 2009 and NBA 2K fans can't even stay mad long enough to remember not buy next year's watered down copy either.

For them not to come with dialogue trees right off the bat has me worried. We want a story based rpg that's also a loot shooter. Really hope they aren't completely getting away from what they do well and just trying to make some GaaS action trash

yal realize if you throw me3mp over destiny's strikes and/or warframe's mission structure with a halfway decent loot and progression system EA will print money right?
all this needs to do is not be a clusterfuck of a release (asking for a lot there) and they're more than solid. i'm not even worried about the continued support since bioware is consistently awesome when it comes to that - its just a matter of it not being doa due to it being rushed out janky bullshit that doesn't even work like andromeda. i feel bad for the devs because EA is sounding like they're locking people in the building....
