Tough to say because it's a service game. They have four teams within Rare working on content updates for Sea of Thieves right now, so that'll be the thing for them for a while, plus whatever their incubation team has been doing. I imagine they probably keep putting out expansions for it through at least next year.

It did sell well, though. I did the Hungering Deep content last night and it's really cool. They need lots more stuff like that.

Sunset Overdrive sold poorly. Insomniac are interested in doing a sequel but they said they need a publisher for that, Microsoft probably does want another one.

Nope.
They certainly can deny a relase on other consoles, but a second title wouldn't fall under that and if Insomniac finds another publisher, the possibility for Sunset Overdrive 2 multiplat is there.

Microsoft is not a very good publisher if it thinks Sunset Overdrive was a bomb when it was really the Xbox "One" that was a bomb.

If anything, Sunset Overdrive was among Titanfall as one of only two titles helping the Xbox One fail less than what it otherwise would have.

Microsoft needs to get its head out of its ass and sabotage Sony's Spider-Man crap by throwing as much money as humanly possible at Insomniac so they can focus more on Sunset sequels instead.

I'm pretty sure MS doesn't own the Sunset Overdrive IP, which I imagine is a big part of why they don't want to invest more into it. It was a fun game which served its purpose when xbox one didn't have much going for it, they're right to focus on other things now.

Yes. Insomniac would really be interested in taking focus from what possibly could be their biggest hit ever to do a sequel of a flop.

Insomniac is occupied with Spiderman and their VR portofolio anyway. So even if MS actually funded a sequel, they would only start the development.
Doubt MS would want that and I'm sure Sony/Marvel are already looking to get the next Spiderman/Marvel title going.

Microsoft already threw a ton of money at Sunset Overdrive. They had it at E3 two years in a row, gave it a gigantic marketing push, bundled it with consoles. It didn't sell. If it sold, they would've greenlit the sequel instead of telling Insomniac thanks but no thanks.

Hopefully more people catch it when it comes to PC because it's rad.
