I remember when Balotelli ran into Totti’s leg. :p
I love Totti, but he was a cunt at times.

I am sure if I spent another 2 minutes more on google I could find some more ways this guy is tied to John Henry. I have seen plenty of experts skew their opinions to adhere to the wishes of the people who fund them.
John Henry is on the board of the medical facility the test was carried out at.
I don't doubt the results, but it's obviously highly orchestrated. Best side effect (I say side effect because, cynically, I don't believe it's the primary reason the information was released) of it is that it shines a light on concussion, but it's only a start.

i mean, yes, it is a PR coup and FSG sent him to their specialists so no wonder he has some connection with them but dont think the good ol doctor would temper with the results.

So you’re suggesting that because John Henry is financially involved in the medical center he was treated at, he got the doctors to publicly lie about Karius’ diagnosis in order to tack a few quid into his sale price.

Well its potentially millions of pounds. I am just viewing the whole thing with a pinch of cynicism especially considering concussion wasn't even mentioned and Karius wasn't even looked at until something like a week after the final.
Have to love the comments for this racism WC piece from the BBC this morning.
Racism against white people is a thing too, you know? Who can forget all those J. Crew catalogs being thrown at Andy Carroll during Euros 2012? May have thrown his whole career off track.
So, yeah, I'm sure this doctor is going to go out of his way to risk his standing within that community so that Henry can "add a few quid" to any deal for his damaged young keeper.
That makes perfectly reasonable sense and doesn't sound crazy at all.

I think it's just about making Karius look like less of a buffoon, there's not a team in the world that would buy him after CL final for more than 1 million brexit pounds regardless if he had a concussion or not.

Weirds me out when people think the concussion is an angle / not worthwhile news to be reported when in some sports there's legit concern over how they could cause long term brain damage.
But sure, let's put it as a conspiracy to get a few million quid for Karius, or to absolve Liverpool of a CL loss.

Regarding Karius, there was a paragraph dedicated to explaining the the effects he suffered that ends with "It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance."
I mean come on.
Obviously some good can come of this but I don't see it as the reason for releasing a statement. I also don't think it's about protecting his value but about trying to protect the player. Also what Courtois said about the other saves is an interesting point

I feel like taking the word of Football players on concussions is pointless.
Courtois experienced a concussion, but is now relating every experience to the one he had, despite the fact that they can present wildly differently.
He couldn't see the ball, but that doesn't mean that Karius couldn't, despite potentially being concussed.

The thing I found interesting was that the liverpool medical team apparently were worried he had a concussion, now admittedly the article didn’t mention if that was during the game, but you would have hoped they would have yanked him. And especially after that first blunder.
Again, it just shows we really need independent doctors for any head injury. Players are warriors especially in those types of games, so they are never going to willingly go of the field.

He had a concussion, it might have affected the game, but we lost.

Now back to more urgent matters. Should we do a Slaent WC sweepstake?
Or do i have to venture in to the other we-shall-not-name-this-thread?

In the past it was like this :
Sky had the rights for the CL/EL,Cup, League and a couple of other leagues like EPL. CL and EL had 1 game per week on free tv, there was also one cup game per round on free tv. The summary of the league games with highlights an hour after the games on free tv.
Last season was the same, with the exception of Friday games that went to Europsport. Same applies for the newly introduced Monday games that everybody hated though.
The coming season there are no more CL games on free tv. CL is split between Sky and DAZN.
So you need Sky,DAZN and Eurosport to get everything. Sky is like 30-40€, Eurosport is 10€ and DAZN is also 10€ per month.
DAZN is a pretty nice service as you also get EPL,Serie A and La Liga games and Eurosport at least got some quality reporting and people who analyse the games, compared to the trash from Sky.
It's still pretty bad and I doubt this will work out in the long run. Imagine you run a bar that wants to show footy...

Does anyone remember the Argentine player who was clearly concussed in a 2014 World Cup game but allowed to play on? That's when the issue should have been addressed properly. Four years later and nothing has been done. Football is miles behind other sports with regards to concussion protocol.

It's essential for Murican football, since you're taking out other players.
Decent head collisions should automatically lead to the players being checked really. I'm sure someone in an official capacity had access to replays showing Karius getting hit, just give them the power to inform the ref that the game should be stopped while a prognosis is made.
Maybe our staff had access to those replays themselves, and should have demanded to be allowed to check Karius in a break of play.
Karius was never going to be checked unless he stayed down, or was punch drunk. From all appearances from tens of metres away, there was nothing wrong with him, and by his own account he himself had no idea he was concussed.
Never mind whether we'd have won or lost, that's water under the bridge, a player playing 40 minutes while concussed is unacceptable.

Good point. And because of that I agree with Hitch. Teams should be able to demand a stop in play for a head collision if a ref has not noticed it.
