By reilo Go To PostJR is second in MPGs for the playoffs while shooting 34% and being generally awful. Good job, Lue.I honestly don’t blame them. There is literally nobody else to go to other than keeping him out there and hoping he gets hot. Lue is reduced to saying things like “we need Jeff Green to be more aggressive” as if that’s a thing he does.

Lue is reduced to saying things like “we need Jeff Green to be more aggressive” as if that’s a thing he does. It's hard to say this, because its the finals. But you can't keep running JR out there on that prayer, when, if he's not hot, he's a big problem for themselves.
That said, the alternatives are just as bad, Jordan "i can't shoot from everywhere on the court, but i'm still going to" clarkson. Rodney "i'm too good for this team" Hood.
So they may as well stick with the veteran. I guess. I dunno, i'd start Hood and run with it.
Rodney Hood is shooting .150 from 3 in these playoffs. Aside from like one game he’s been all round atrocious. He’s not a better move.
Rodney Hood is going to be the the Mr Krabs meme tonight. Breh ain't played meaningful minutes in how long and you just throw him in the fire vs this? Good luck.

Negative.
The Cavs supporting cast will play better at home, and if there’s a game for Lebron to chug all of the nanomachines, it’s this one. No way he wants a finals sweep on his resume.

Fixed that for you.
Yeah, I suddenly realized that after I typed that. But I don’t think people hold kid Lebron vs. peak Spurs against him in the legacy race. It’s not fair to hold a sweep against him here either, he’s been superhuman and better than anybody on the Warriors, but it’ll track differently.

By domino Go To PostAre we sure they'll play better at home? The Warriors ain't some scrub EC teamYeah, they’ll have a hyped up crowd behind them, the refs will call the game their way and they’ll be in desperation mode because there’s no coming back if they lose. I have no idea if that’s enough for them to win a game, they’re in no way equipped to defend a dialled-in Warriors team.

People hold everything against him in the legacy race.

Damned if they don't sometimes aspire to be, though.
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostPeople hold everything against him in the legacy race.I feel like the only real thing left holding people back from declaring him GOAT is rings/finals record. Though yeah, if he did get 6 some people would move the goalposts to him not playing in the handcheck era or ring chasing with the Heat, but that becomes less of an argument.

I would hope people don't hold that against him.

The gauntlet will break from this win
The whole KISS Army couldn't save the Cavs in Game 3. What it comes down to is if Golden State plays bored again and somehow gets down like double digits in the 3rd quarter... do they really want to expend the energy to come back? I mean we all know barring injuries Golden State can beat the Cavs any time they want if they play anywhere close to serious.

I'll never proclaim him GOAT. However, him even being in the neighborhood doesn't offend my sensibilities. I don't think that's necessarily true for the haters, though. It's dumb, dude can be great while someone else is still GOAT. These aren't mutually exclusive.
But Tom Brady is trash, though. Montana for life.

I saw Jordan do thangs. Better scorer, better defender, killer instinct. LeBron has his plusses, too. Better distributor, and being bigger helps.
Though, Jordan might have killed JR Smith right there on the court, which would tend to hurt his availability for the rest of the series.

Coming back from 3-1 vs the Warriors is probably equally as impressive.
One big thing for me in the Lebron vs. MJ debate is that he’s doing it in the sportvu/analytics era, facing way more organized and prepared defences that can break down his every tendency and watch every shot and pass he (and his team) makes all year from every angle. That kind of data just didn’t exist back in the 90s.
He’s doing it against a better talent pool as well, you just didn’t have anywhere near as well developed leagues and scouting in Europe and Africa as you do now. Even in the US the development was way more regional.

Most of that talent pool, particularly in their prime, has been out west.

And the data thing works both ways, LBJ has taken advantage of the huge amount of data to know the other teams play book, and defenders tendencies. I also think you're mistaken if you think Jordan wouldn't have taken advantage of that.
It’s not a case of ‘Jordan wouldn’t have used that,’ it’s a counter to the “MJ played in a tougher hand check era” argument. It puts Lebron’s relative numbers in perspective.
“At times when I may lose a little bit of confidence because of playing time or whatever, I look back to my Utah highlights a lot on YouTube just to remind myself that that was this [season] when I did those things,” Hood said, sounding like a player with a severe lack of confidence. YouTube highlights is a new low. In the Undefeated piece, Hood acknowledged the pressure of playing on a team led by LeBron had been tough to adapt to.
It's not easy when the whole O revolves around one guy and the coach installs no cohesive offensive plan. Even harder when those players rarely practice.
