We've been drawn against Notts County in the playoff semi-final. 12th & 18th are the dates for the two matches.
By GQman2121 Go To PostMushroom, you are aware that Bleacher Report isn't a news outlet right?
:lol
At the start of fight week, Sky Bet made Haye their 1/2 favourite, with Bellew 2/1 and the draw 28/1, while it's 8/1 that Haye is knocked down but still wins and 10/1 for Bellew in the same market.

Bleacher and all the Sports Nation sites are nothing more than Photoshop stat hubs with average Joe opinion pieces sprinkled on top of republished stories from actual news outlets.
They do do those stat graphics really, really well though. But that doesn't make them a go to resource for anything requiring real reporting.
By recon_zero Go To PostWe dodged a bullet with OzilOzil, Di Maria and Morata.
The only one that I feel we kinda fucked up on is James, he's a class above the 3 I mentioned. Ozil would be as good as James if he only worked harder, ffs m8, run and pretend you give a fuck. How many times does he just walk about, can't have that low level of intensity at Madrid anymore, especially with Zidane.
Morata thought he was starting material, I never believed in him. He was a super explosive sub though.
Di Maria can fuck off wanting more money, yeah the dude delivered an amazing La Decima performance but you can't go around twisting uncle flo's arm.

Welp, sounds like Castles was spot on. Buvac had a massive falling out with Klopp over Klopp finding out about Buvac talking to Mislintat at Arsenal.

By Laboured Go To PostWelp, sounds like Castles was spot on. Buvac had a massive falling out with Klopp over Klopp finding out about Buvac talking to Mislintat at Arsenal.Which is really weird. I know that people and their own targets and expectations change, but didn't expect Buvac to get an eye on a role like that. Different coaching role for sure or management along with Mislintat. Whatever, I read that Frankfurt was among the candidates and it wasn't a fallout between Klopp and him, more like other problems within the club and Buvac.
Curious what it's gonna be.

Don't think Buvac is a bad idea to be quite honest.

By Pele.gif Go To PostDon't think Buvac is a bad idea to be quite honest. What's the story behind him? I've only heard of him from the bust up with Klopp, it actually would be rather intresting to get someone of a low profile to go in there with the less pressure, this whole team needs to be reworked and I think there might be even more unnecessary pressure with a high profile coach.

We've got loads of backroom staff vacancies to fill in the summer. Gerrard's taking a bunch with him to Glasgow, and Buvac is probably going.
Game Night was hilarious. Can't remember the last time I laughed as much in a movie.
This was fucking insane by Bas Dost, I still can't believe he pulled that off.

It would take some serious convincing from Mislintat or whomever to get him to believe he’s the manager type. Maybe if Arsenal are looking to do a coaching setup where the manager is more of a coaching specialist, it might work. But the guy is the definition of laconic, he isn’t a talker, a media man, or a player motivator, he’s a pure tactician and a man of few words. It would be a very Arsenal thing to do.
For the moment he’s still a Liverpool employee. Klopp doesn’t want to lose him if he can avoid it, but I think once a man is tempted by new prospects it’s hard to convince him not to follow it.
I’d like him to keep his career intact instead of being the one to pick up then poisoned chalice. Obviously it would keep the situation more stable at Liverpool to maintain his services, and I think walking into the still-warm manager’s chair at Arsenal is career suicide.
Wowee. So the A-League grand final was played last night and it finished 1-0. Melbourne Victory scored a goal in the 8th minute that replays showed was well offside. A-League uses VAR but something fucked up and they lost the feed to the cameras so they couldn’t review the goal. The goal stood, Victory went on to win via that goal and now the Newcastle Jets are baying for blood.
So Football Federation Australia has just released this statement:
Sums up Australian football.
So Football Federation Australia has just released this statement:
FULL STATEMENT:
Football Federation Australia (FFA) has conducted a review into the goal decision by the VAR during last night’s Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final between the Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory.
It has found that a technical failure in the VAR system meant that the Video Assistant Referee did not have access to the camera views which would have enabled him to make an offside ruling in the 9th minute goal scored for Melbourne Victory by Kosta Barbarouses.
FFA’s Head of Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League, Greg O’Rourke, said that according to the technology partner Hawkeye, the capture software that uploads the broadcast feed into the VAR system was partially lost 30 seconds before Victory’s goal due to a malfunction of software.
It was not until some minutes after the goal that this was restored, too late to change the decision on the goal as the game had restarted.
Under VAR regulations, where there is no clear evidence to the contrary, the on field decision – in this case allowing the goal – stands.
The camera feed to broadcaster’s FOX SPORTS, which is routed separately, was not affected.
“We are extremely disappointed at this failure of the VAR technology,” O’Rourke said, “And we understand the disappointment and frustration of the Newcastle Jets, their fans and indeed all football fans.
“VAR was introduced here and in other parts of the world as a technology based solution to correct the human errors that inevitably are made from time to time when officials are making judgements in split seconds.
“On this occasion the technology itself failed and the broadcast angles required were unavailable. We are working with Hawkeye to thoroughly understand why it did and what can be done to prevent this happening again.
“Whilst we understand that this happened only once this season it was at a most critical time. All parties desire the technology to be failure proof and that is what we will be striving for.”
“This is important not just for the Hyundai A-League but for other leagues around the world and for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia at which VAR will be used for the first time,” concluded O’Rourke.

I hope we give him the send off he deserves.

I think there is a big chance that Kane gets benched for the game against Newcastle. There's too much shit swirling around his head at the moment, with the goal he stole from Eriksen, his ankle, the WC, the Golden Boot etc. We played well with Son up front and we should go back to that.

Lots of meaningful match ups for the Championship today at both ends of the table.
Reading (@Cardiff 2nd) & Birmingham (Fulham 3rd) need at least draws to stay up. Each of their opponents want that second spot for auto promotion.
Barnsley need either a win against Derby (6th fighting to hold their playoff place) or a draw/loss for...
Bolton & Burton (@Preston 7th) who need to win and then further help to avoid joining Sunderland.

Buvac isn't really a manager, so I can't think Sven tried to recruit him to be one. He doesn't really talk much and hates the limelight, he's just extremely tactically astute. There are conflicting reports, with the latest piece saying Klopp banished him for withholding an offer from Arsenal that he'd been entertaining. Whether that's as a coach or a manager I don't know, although I don't know why he'd go just to be a coach.
The other report is that Klopp had been excluding him from things recently, whether that's because he knew about the Arsenal stuff or for something else entirely I don't know.
Either way I hope he doesn't go to Arsenal and he and Jurgen can patch up their differences in the summer.

I think the arsenal job right now is one of the best available in world football in terms of pay, club and now structure. It's not really like the utd situation in terms of wengers fingerprints being on the club, I get the feeling he's barely made any off the field decisions for a few months now (auba wasn't a wenger buy)

The expectation at the club is to at least qualify for the Champions League, however the state of the current squad is in far worse health than at least four teams above them, with Chelsea an unknown factor given what may or may not happen to Courtois and Hazard this summer. An incoming manager is under serious pressure to revive a squad that has proven to be consistently mentally weak, and do it on a strict budget. It's no secret that a good portion of the available wages are also going to Ozil, who's a luxury player and an excellent creative addition, but isn't going to be the one to drive the team to long-term success.
