Was forced to see it in 3d because I went to a non reserve theather and thought I'd get better seats....and ya know what, shit was a spectacle. It was the same way with The Last Jedi actually. Might always default to 3D for these big budget flicks.
By s y 2.0 Go To PostDark and gritty? Idk about that.that last Spidey scene is darker than anything in the DCEU.
By Mariosalic Go To Postthat last Spidey scene is darker than anything in the DCEU.Nah, Supes snapping zods neck was "darker".
If Marvel wanted to be darker then they would have all the bodies go cold instead of turning into ash.
Marvel wasn't trying to be dark or gritty either imo. Not their thing.

Tone wise this is definitely a darker Marvel film. Not even really up for debate.
Loki basically gets his neck broken in the first 5 minutes

i saw both of these in the cinema and kids were def. disturbed and one even cried after IW while nobody gave a shit about Supes breaking necks of an evil guy.
it's a dark movie that makes you feel bad thus pulling off a better dark and gritty movie.
Chris Hemsworth is the best. Glad they put him next to the inferior Chris (Pratt) to end this charade that they were in the same tier. He's funnier, built like a beautiful muscular angel, and the superior actor overall.

You know, the one thing I really miss and I think it's something that these ensemble movies do a disservice to, it is the fact that Tony Stark doesn't have his own standalone stories anymore. He's still a very much integral part to the MCU, so it's mostly fine.
HOWEVER, every time we see Tony Stark now and he's about to go Iron Man on some baddy in the first 15 minutes of the movie, he just ends up introducing a new suit that's better and more awesome then the last, makes some one-liner quip ("it's nanites!"), but the fanfare around it is so, lame. It's taken for granted. I guess I just miss watching Tony Stark in a lab actually doing his thing, which we haven't gotten to see seemingly in years now. We just see shallow surface Tony Stark that is doing smart Tony Stark things in his head, but we don't have the visibility into his thought process anymore.

We'll get old Tony suiting back up one last time in like five or ten years, post marriage, but there's been no story to tell for him recently. He's very much on top of his shit to the point where he's training ppl now. So not having his own film has made sense.
They'll need to find a decent stopping point for Thor soon too. He's got a lot of shit to deal with at this point.

TBF Stark hasn't really done anything super-sick with his suits since IM3.
In IW however, The Bleeding Edge armour is part Insane Science and part Magic - that shit is a WARFRAME spliced with some anime nonsense, its glorious.

Speaking of Stark I need a scene with him and Shuri. I love how she casually just dunked on Banner with the science. I’d love to whar she thinks Stark’s tech compared to what she makes in Wakanda.

The global gross for Infinity War is particularly impressive since the film won’t open in China, one of the world’s biggest markets, until May 11.
By Kidjr Go To PostThink it will enter the two billion clubit was a foregone conclusion by Wednesday when they were projecting a $235M OW.
I'm just curious as to how close it gets to Avatar.

Right now it's only on track for $1.8b or $1.9b. It would have to open over $200 million in China
By HasphatsAnts Go To Postit was a foregone conclusion by Wednesday when they were projecting a $235M OW.Avatar had no competition for 2 months, didn't require watching 16 movies before and the dollar had a really low value. I doubt anything will come close to it for many years.

2B will probably happen but it's not a lock yet, really curious to see how it performs after Deadpool 2 comes out.
Disney is going to premiere Solo at Cannes 10 days before it's theatrical release and they are not having an embargo on it so they probably are happy with the end result.
You forget, but 3D back then was considered a premium and very unproven investment and the movie released during a global recession. China wasn't as big of a market as it is today, either.
Avatar was such a huge success not only because of its overall momentum, but because nobody has ever seen such success from a December release for a movie. The business couldn't even comprehend a movie of even half its success that could release outside of the summer window.

If it's paced well like Infinity War, then I'm cool with that.
By reilo Go To PostI’m ok with this. So many characters and it’s the season finale. Plus I want to lose my shit to hopefully seeing something like every MCU hero on screen at once. Preferably with a panning shot and highlight montage like Avengers 1.
Watched it a couple of days ago
Had high expectations and it surpassed them. Superb movie. Really hard to find a flaw unless you nitpick at smallest things
