Lol jk.
Does season 1 get better? I got really bored a few episodes in. I don't mind slow moving stories but man, I felt like nothing happened.

It does start slow, but I enjoy even those episodes so ...
Loved the first Episode in season 2. My only concern is that they're gonna just F with the timelines because hey that was what they did in season 1. You can see they're only giving us pieces of what happened in the immediate aftermath while also giving us Bernard 2 weeks into the future.
I think I'm most intrigued by Bernard's story arc right now. He clearly doesn't deal well with learning he's a robot. Then he learns he's a robot right away on top of being damaged to start the season.
Maeve's story line looks like it's not gonna end well.
Dolores's new found blood lust has got Teddy all sorts of confused.

I love slaent lmao
I really enjoyed that episode.
Ed Harris is great.
Not the biggest fan of the time jumping, it was a nice reveal in season one, but it might get tiring this season.

i really hoped the time jumping had died with last season. it served its purpose
i don't like how its carrying over two season two - you'll just be questioning everything from now on

I don’t mind a little bit for some confusion, but I don’t want it centred around the plot so heavily

I suspect Abernathy is valued because he's the first one to really question things. They stated that the data in the hosts heads is where the value is. He was placed in storage with the rest of the decommissioned hosts last season mid way through. IIRC at one point Charlotte hid extra data in his head too.
He was supposed to be smuggled out last season by that writer dude (who's now Meave's play thing) and Charlotte ( fine looking big wig who was also in on it). When all the shit went down at the very end, the writer dude went to the storage place and all the bodies were gone.
We don't know who took the bodies nor do we know for what purpose. It does seem like the insiders in the company smuggling data aren't the one's though. Charlotte in the present is trying to be extracted and whoever she's working with is like "nah you didn't deliver anything".
i don't like a lot of what theyre doing in s2. the timeline stuff was a great device in season 1, but its got no real footing going forward. this show is too broad of a scope to question everything going on. as is, its entirely possible that the dorothy we see in some clips is from when she returns from outside the park
then they water down death so completely that they're left with literally scalping indians for effect along with making humans strip for please and lynching them on crosses.
then everything about the delos secret lab lol
im starting to think this show is legit bad

By reilo Go To PostOkay I didn't catch that he was the package, so, ugh, wtf?
He was the package last season too. They failed to smuggle him out when all the decommissioned bodies where gone at the very very end of the last episode.

now i entirely suspect that brain swaps are gonna start happening lol

Agreed with the timeline stuff. I don't want it to dominate the plot.
Death was always watered down. Especially for the hosts.
Maeve made him strip out of revenge too. The hosts have been doing it their entire lives to the guests pleasure. Maeve isn't doing it for pleasure, she's doing it to make him feel what it's like to be a host. To be "observed"
I mean the end of season 1 we see Dolores go into full on kill mode. It wouldn't make sense if she were to immediately give people mercy. If she's going to evolve and become her own story, part of that is what she's currently going through.

Abernathy was decommissioned. At the time Ford was still alive and was monitoring things. You can't download what's in Abernathy's head from a satellite if he's shut down in storage. The brain box thing is irrelevant. When they want to smuggle the package out, he was gone.
but the way they're going about it is boring and weightless is kinda my thing
season 1 everything had an impact. now its just business as usual without the business as usual tones necessary. its really falling flat imo

You're one episode into season two. You have no idea what has weight right now and what doesn't. The dead tiger body probably has more weight than anything else we've seen so far, honestly.

I don't remember every detail, but is this accurate? Charlotte came on towards the middle of the season IIRC and she's the one who's wanted to smuggle him. Ford was still around and so was Bernard's women friend who also had an eye on things.

regarding the 'just ep1' thing, the timeline stuff combined with the season preview following the credits has me dropping my expectations pretty hard.
the difference in weight is already established. you go from having dolores and young black hat on some fucked up adventure for half the season to piles of corpses in every scene or stuff like a random farm hand getting stomped out. just running into a bunch of unsavory side characters was an event, now there's strolls through decomposing, maggot ridden human corpses that has zero impact on anyone watching. that's the kind of weight i'm referring to and there's no reversing that type of thing in storytelling. again, literally scalping indians didn't even register lol. thandie's character for example, exactly how fucked of a resolution surrounding her daughter would there have to be in order for things to have a real impact for the viewer and make sense within the context of the story?
and to reiterate, i'd be down for the ride if the timeline bullshit didn't chop the legs out from underneath every scene.
regarding the tigers and stuff...... samurai world being a thing was apparent since season 1 - and now stealing guest dna kinda bleeds into the ideas that delos was cooking up killer robots too.
I'm blind. I've avoided all the trailers. Abernathy's value may have been established but it wasn't until Charlotte came on that he was deemed a target. I just don't see how it would have been easy to smuggle him and it seems (probably ford) was onto them anyway since the bodies were missing.
Farm hand getting stomped out was again, something that has to be shown IMO. It imidiately followed the hosts turning on the guests. It make sense. This episode started out violent considering where we left off. Guests don't trust hosts and have no idea which ones are following a program or not.
I don't know man, I've never though death had much impact in this. The only impact was to show how the guests secretly just want to be killers but can't IMO. The eventual violent backlash was always the end game if sentience came into play
IMO Maeves daughter doesn't have to be a violent end for it to have impact. Her simply finding her daughter who then doesn't have a clue who she is would be impactful enough.
Samurai world is apparent. It's not apparent how a tiger corpse made it into the west.

Westworld needs to avoid becoming 24, where each season needs to be bigger and badder and more complex and plot-twisty than the last.
Dolores is a woman on a mission. I enjoyed Maeve pointing out the juxtaposition of the choice of freedom she’s offering.
The back story was great. Really wonder what happened to Logan after being sent into the sunset last season.
Ford making this game for William is kinda wild.

There's something off abut Dolores other than her being a essentially a dictator who doesn't enlighten any of the hosts and instead is using them for her own gains. I don't know if she is fully in control like Maeve is. Even Bernanrd is making some choices that show he is operating on his own accord. Either way she is my least favorite character so far this season, and I liked her last season.
Loved that episode.
Loved the William/Logan backstory continuing. I wonder if older Logan will ever show up.
I kinda fell like she is part of William's new game. Isn't the game now that William needs to secure the data in that place? Dolores wants to use it as a weapon. So it seems like those two will be squaring off again.

Well I thought there were two Bernards, but I was wrong. Serves me right to watch the first episode half asleep.
So what's everyone's thoughts of what the weapon supposed to be? A collection of blackmail data that Dolores plans to release to the whole wide world?

A coworker pointed out that a lot of the people in the outside world were Asian, she thought speaking Mandarin and she saw some signage that lead her to believe this is taking place in China. I have to re-watch.
One thing I've wondered is what happened to Logan after riding off into to the Sunset last season, and I'm thinking they may have clued us in this episode. We knew we were viewing the past in episode 2, but not necessarily when exactly. I suspect some stuff was pre season one and some stuff was post seasons 1. I think that retirement dinner scene was sort of the passing of the guard. Looks like Logan got lost in drugs and became disillusioned by the whole thing. He even comments on the sake of our species. Old man Delos steps aside and William takes over as he's married to the family. William still conflicted about Dolores.

my favorite so far is Arnold, Logan and young William.
having Dolores in the real world is sensational, we need more of that flashback.

isn't the ending of s2e1 (where Arnold is looking at a sea of dead bodies in the lake) two weeks into the future of where Dolores is trying to recruit an Army?

WIlliam recognized Dolores at that same party, so i assume it takes place after Logan riding off into the sunset.
He's lost the company to William and is drinking and injecting himself with that weird drug apparatus. He's not quite Elon Musk.

And in relation to the preview of next episode surely the master plan is to put dopplegangers into the real world, looked like in that secret lab they were making hosts.
