"Authorities were led to the suspect based on evidence gathered from a FedEx store where he shipped two parcel bombs."
Hard to imagine what this guy was thinking being so secretive and then so brazen. But glad they got him. Fingers crossed there aren't others out there.. I'm sure everyone will remain on edge for some time.

https://www.statesman.com/news/crime--law/authorities-bombing-suspect-was-pflugerville-resident-mark-conditt/CQUCcXNJ9nb2iFs8sSq0pK/new.html
Conditt received a degree from Austin Community College’s Northridge Campus and had worked at Crux Semiconductor in Austin as a “purchasing Agent/buyer/shipping and receiving,” according to a profile on a job recruiting website. He previously worked as a computer repair technician.
There are very few public social media posts under his name.
His mother, Danene Conditt, posted a picture in February 2013 to commemorate her son’s completing a high school-level education.
“I officially graduated Mark from High School on Friday. 1 down, 3 to go. He has 30 hrs of college credit too, but he’s thinking of taking some time to figure out what he wants to do….maybe a mission trip. Thanks to everyone for your support over the years.”

Going from Kobe / Pau to Clarkson / Sacre
By Fenderputty Go To PostGoing from Kobe / Pau to Clarkson / Sacre
that's tough
"Agents fanned out throughout the city of Austin going to big box retail stores as well as locally owned stores trying to determine whether or not there were suspicious purchases," Tony Plohetski, an investigative reporter for the Austin American-Statesman, told CNN's "New Day." They were "going through receipts and going through sales records from those stores."
That worked. Plohetski said the search of the receipts provided investigators with "critical evidence."
They now had a person of interest: now identified as Mark Anthony Conditt.
Federal search warrants were then used to get the man's IP address, which showed that he'd been making "suspicious" Google searches, Plohetski said.
But the big break came when Conditt went to a FedEx store in south Austin and shipped an explosive device – and the whole thing was captured on security video.
"Police say that they used that as the final piece to put all of this together, really in the past 24 hours," Plohetski said.
He wasn't as on point as it seemed. Should've used prepaid cards or something. He created a paper trail and once they got the IP address plus surveillance footage, it was a wrap.
By Smokey Go To PostHe wasn't as on point as it seemed. Should've used prepaid cards or something. He created a paper trail and once they got the IP address plus surveillance footage, it was a wrap.as official as they want that to look, that sales stuff is circumstantial - not critical. unless you're hitting the clearance rack at bombs'r'us and they found the mail in rebates used as materials for the tripwire, you can't run with that. im almost kinda floored they went with the mcveigh spin on their approach lol. its not like nails and filaments are the same as huge hauls for heavy shit that raises real flags. there'd have to be something EXTREMELY unique in these hardware visits that flies under existing radars as a red flag and somehow identified each of the bombs in a distinct way.
get my tinfoil hat.
they can front all they want. everything that mattered came from that trip to the shipping center. and the profile for that is so fucking different that i'm legit going to need to be convinced it was the same person/group responsible for everything.
A bit too tidy, no way this 23 yr old got up to making and planting bombs on his lonesome. Reminds me of McVeigh, we're just supposed to believe that he only had Nichols assistance. To this day I don't buy that either.

The "terrorism" debate is kind of fascinating.
I'm not sure why people are upset that people who blow themselves up and release ISIS pamphlets can immediately be labeled terrorists but we cant for this guy yet. Its like arguing against nuance and definitions. I understand why it feels wrong but at the same time you can take one step back and say yeah thats probably right.

No, it’s because we have no clear motive. Terrorism isn’t just a fucking word that can be attached to anyone. It’s a crime with a specific definition. If we use it as something to discribe a spree of violence than what’s to stop authorities from using terrorism as a way prosecute gang members?
Look back at the people we actually call terrorist. There are usually signs pointing at the motives and ideologies of the individuals in those cases right when it happens.
And if we get into it. Authorities rarely use the word “terrorist” unless it meets the three areas of the criteria.
Maj. Nidal Hassan was not called one when he shot up Fort Hood. Even if they felt he met the criteria the FBI specifically did not use the word because they wanted to prosecute him quickly. Terrorism is hard to prove.
In Fresno a 39 year old Muslim name Kori Ali Muhammad killed three people while screaming “Allah Akbar” he was charged with a hate crime and the police never called it terrorism because they did not feel he met the criteria.

But those are also single shooting sprees. Targeting people and residential areas with bombs and explosives is a whole other thing. A better comparison would be John Allen Muhammad and his continued targeting of people with his sniper. But even then that's still shooting at people because you're pissed off. Unabomber was solo and had an ideology all to himself. This guy more than likely had a personal ideology that drove him as well.

Targeting random people with the intent to cause fear because the world needs to burn would fall under domestic terrorism. The motive doesn't have to be ideological in nature if the intent is to cause fear. The general public aren't living in fear of gang vs gang violence. I think your argument would be better suited by comparing this to a serial killer where the intent may not be to cause fear but it does anyway. Either way, you know the WH would be calling this terrorism if the dude was brown with a beard before even knowing the intent.
This was exactly what terrorism is. Domestic terrorism to be completely correct.
I hope that the black people, hispanics, and others that were affected by this can breathe easier now.
Good riddance to the dead terrorist.

What's really important is that you have the ability to recognise bullshit from these propaganda machines that news networks have become. Every news network is trying to push an agenda more so the American ones. Just be educated and consistently skeptical. Also do your self a favour and stop constantly consuming media because it is entirely unhealthy for your mental state.

you see it all the time in human trafficking cases to this day and the more stuff ends up in declassified from the 80s and prior, you see that trends are still very much alive for this sort of thing
actually yeah, fuck that. please read up on some of the white extremist shit dating back a bit

Double standard is real
to be fair, I appreciate it when journalists dont label someone as a terrorist without knowing their motive. Just like others I'm pissed when this sometimes don't apply to muslims or PoC.

Systematically planting explosive packages is the very definition of U.S. domestic terrorism... How is this even a debate?
Yes, I know - it’s because he’s white (and the ”low” body count).
