I think the battle system looks better, absolute hated the pokemonsque from the first game. I had no time to grind them up, only used a couple of them during the whole game.
The first one was also a bit too long to me, good to know this one is a bit shorter.
This one is a sure buy on a good sale.

The map battles is the big one, that turned me off from seeing from the very first moment. But also the pokemonesque part was something I enjoyed a lot. Could have kept it and just not required that much grinding. I really like turn based games, and tend to drop off especially action RPG's when the combat becomes annoying, which I almost always find it after a bit.
Also those cat ears on the main character are disgusting. Legit almost makes me want to not play it
