I think Juve and Liverpool is probably the best match up. They even each other out, Liverpool attacks like mad and Juve defend like crazy, it'll be a show match to see who is better at what they do best.
I haven't seen 1 game of Bayern, I heard James is doing pretty good, would be nice to avoid him for obvious reasons.

Juve don't defend like crazy. The second half of the CL final was a shit show, but we matched your attacking output in the first half. And don't say it was by design.
Allegri is not a defensive coach.

I would take that.
Then Roma knock out Juve and face Liverpool in the final.
Then I commit seppuku as Roma win the CL in the first yellow ar without Totti holding back the club.
By Lupercal Go To PostTheatre of Nightmares is a great name though.I like it, very intimidating.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostRuben Dias gets his first call up for the NT and deservedly so, the kid has been impressive at Benfica and is probably their best CB already.A shame that Rony Lopes didn't get a call. Has been insane for Monaco as of late.
World Cup list won't be much different from that unless there are serious injuries.
Pepe and Danilo should replace Rolando and Ruben Neves when they are fit again, 2 of the midfielders will be dropped with Moutinho, Adrien, João Mário, André Gomes and Manuel Fernandes being the likely choices.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI don't think I have ever heard Ray Hudson angry before. This is your best post.
Curse you Jose.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostAllegri would be perfect for United.
I think he only leaves Juve for Madrid or United.
Allegri would be my #1 choice post-Jose
Worth posting again, kid is only 17, I'm not hyped but I do hope he develops furthermore, wouldn't mind seeing him in Europe (somewhere like Porto or something).
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostJuve don't defend like crazy.Would be curious to know who you think defends better than Juve in the remaining CL teams. Which team is as compact and rigid?
The UCL draw I want:
FCB x RM
City x Bayern
Liverpool x Sevilla
Roma x Juventus
I'm fine with whatever draw tomorrow as long as we avoid City. They're not perfect, but they're scary. If we have to play them, I'd love it to be in a final.

By Frustrated_me Go To PostAll that talk earlier about top athletes and so on and not 1 mention of Ronaldo. The same Ronaldo going toe to toe and surprising everyone year over year at age 33 with 5 Ballon d'Ors and who the fuck knows how many records in how many fucking competitions in how many fucking tournaments winning god knows how many awards.People were mentioning the best in their sport and that doesn't include Ronaldo. He's a great player, but he is nowhere near Messi's level. No one is.
God damn some of you are losers lol.
By FlutterPuffs Go To PostThe closest I've seen to Messi this season is David Silva
but even then the gap between both is wider than the gap between Suen's buttcheeks.

I mean Juve don’t normally set out to defend. If we defend like crazy it is because we are being forced to.
Allegri doesn’t set his team out to play like Simeone.
Maybe I took your original meaning wrong. As I viewed it kinda like parking the bus.
By Laboured Go To PostThat England squad is just rotten from back to front.Good for Mawson and Tarkowski though. They deserve some recognition.
Yeah but they're not good players. They've just benefitted from being in last-ditch defensive systems under their managers.

I'm happy Harry Maguire is in. My money for the best English CB around.
Well it's not really a high bar though.
Well it's not really a high bar though.
Across the top four leagues in Europe, Real Madrid are the highest scorers since January
Glad to see us picking up shape and form again, we were so bad early/mid season, plagued by injuries too. Now we have a complete squad who I hope stays fit and healthy, hoping to hit peak form at the right time.
Great, Di Biagio is gonna lead us to defeat against a bunch of Engliah no names.
At least that will make it less likely for him to get the real job.
I hope we don’t follow Englands example of appointing the u21 boss as caretaker and then appoint him full time.
First and only time I will root for England.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostWhat about during the World Cup?
Why would I root for England?
I recognize this is a total shitpost but it made me laugh. If you missed it, Jose said something to the effect of Liverpool might have the Champions League but we're still in the FA Cup.
Would be a bit daft if Gomez wasn't in the squad given how well he played in England's last two matches, and the fact that he was kept out by a minor injury that he's now recovered from.
Even if he wasn't fit to start against Man Utd, there will have been 2 weeks between that and the England game.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostYou'd rather players be picked on reputation rather than how they are actually playing?
Well my argument was more that they are not playing that well. Defenders in particular seem to enjoy the reputational benefits of sitting in defensive shaped/minded teams without being individually exceptional.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI mean Juve don’t normally set out to defend. If we defend like crazy it is because we are being forced to.I agree, however Allegri's semi-proactive / reactive brand of football does invite it under specific circumstances. I don't see it as a bad thing at all. In fact, if you had two teams with exactly the same 11 players facing each other, I reckon the reactive team wins 7 out of 10 times.
Allegri doesn’t set his team out to play like Simeone.
Reactive football isn't about parking the bus and hoping for the best, it's about letting your opponent do their thing, having studied their tactics in great detail, and setting yourself up to exploit their flaws. This season's Juve - Napoli was a perfect example of it.
What some of our fans don't seem to understand is that when we face a superior team, we'll sometimes lose no matter the tactics and formation. If the opposition is considerably better at playing football, be it in general or at that moment in the season, they'll simply win as a consequence.

Good points.
Never heard of that reactive concept before, but it does sound like Allegri.
Off to bed now. Not gonna set my alarm for the match, but I will see if I awake.
But man, I have got to pity Mou.

Seeing that starting lineup and the bench for Tuesday's game was like if Lex Steel decided he would rather have sex wearing a 3 inch strap on.
My god what a terrible analogy.
Mou did well on Saturday and rightfully praised for it, but he screwed up on Tuesday and should blasted for it too.
Spanish security at grounds don't need an excuse to get the batons out. Seen unprovoked attacks by police in full riot gear first hand when I went to Atletico Madrid. I am surprised this is news.
By FlutterPuffs Go To PostBut man, I have got to pity Mou.You’re saying these things like Mourinho isn’t a massive cunt who snipes at everyone including the club that currently employs him. Guy is a prick and deserves no pity whatsoever. If he would just shut up and be humble for once he wouldn’t get so much flak.
