Regarding the first penalty incident, Clattenburg wrote in the Times: "It shouldn’t have been a penalty because it was offside, but Kane didn’t dive. Loris Karius just caught him — there wasn’t much contact but there was some — and the Liverpool goalkeeper’s reaction says it all.
"He immediately put his head to the turf. He knew he’d made a terrible error. If there had been no contact he’d have leapt up immediately and accused Kane of cheating."
Regarding Moss' call to award the second penalty, Clattenburg wrote: "This a tough decision. I believe that there is a suspicion of offside in the build up to the penalty. The ball is touched by Fernando Llorente and into Érik Lamela, who is fractionally offside in my opinion.
"As we have seen with VAR now, offside is a matter of fact and no benefit is given to the attacking team. Therefore, the penalty should not have been allowed.
By Curling-batong Go To PostIt's pretty shocking how no ref can agree on whether the first is offside or not. PGMOL and a few others say it wasn't, but Battenburg and another ref say it was. Personally not sure it was, but this is messy enough that it'll rear its head when VAR is implemented, and everyone will go off on one.

Well Lovren deliberately played the ball, yes. But he kicked the ball under pressure from Kane, who is offside. If an offside player is affecting the actions of the defense, it’s offside.
Second one I still don’t think it’s a pen. It’s exactly like the Calvin foul where he just stepped into Lovren’s path and fell over. You’re punishing players for simply existing, there’s no foul there. It’s clever play from the forward and Harry Kane did the same thing for the first penalty when he dragged his feet behind him to make sure there’s contact with Karius.
They’re both dives and football is going in the wrong direction if we’re rewarding teams with goals and points for kicking the ball away and praying for contact. I mean on one side of the pitch, Salah does a Messi-esque shuffle in the box to take 5 defenders out the game and score a goal that deserves three points. On the other end, it’s one buffoon talking to another buffoon and concluding “I couldn’t see if it touched Lovren or not. Im giving a pen.” Football pls
ESPN's top ten performers.
Do ESPN even watch games? Sami was off at half time while Big Hig scored all his goals in the second half lol
6. Gonzalo Higuain | Juventus
Why he's here: While Khedira was running the show in midfield, Higuain was eating the fruits of his labor, netting a cool hat trick.

I agree with this 100%.
First one was not a dive. If you are the keeper you eoither win the ball or give a penalty. You can't not want the ball. I will always stand by you don't even need contact for a penalty. When a defender leaves the attacker no option but to try and avoid contact, then that is a foul.
Second one wasn't a dive. it is hard to say who was at fault for the initial contact, but there was contact.

Throw EPL teams out of the Carabao Cup.
Spread fixtures out properly.
Make a big deal of the FA Cup weekend. I demand a Saturday 3pm kickoff for all the 3rd round fixtures.
plus have the semi-finals of the FA Cup at different venues, makes the final at Wembley less special the way it is nowadays.

By n8 dogg Go To PostThink that’s a draw tbh. Arse have been decent vs Spurs even in the last few yearsI can very easily see any result.
Draw would be good for us though. Assuming we dispatch Newcastle we'd be very safe in the top 4 which is of course a massive achievement.
I have two tickets for the game if anybody here is interested.
By inky Go To PostIf they kick the EPL teams out of the Caribou Cup it ceases to be called that, it would probably become the Tesco Store Value Line Cup or the Jaffa Cakes Cup. Please understand.
Then how would these enterprising sponsors conspire to fuck over the smallest teams with their draw? Little known fact, we actually went out to Bristol City as a form of protest m8. Give the small clubs a chance and all that.
By Freewheelin Go To PostAll of thisThat as well. There are plenty of top notch stadiums around the country that can easily host the semi finals.

By Oddinho Go To PostWell Lovren deliberately played the ball, yes. But he kicked the ball under pressure from Kane, who is offside. If an offside player is affecting the actions of the defense, it’s offside. That's what you want the rules to be, but those aren't the rules, quite simply. Kane does none of the things that are considered offside by the rule book. It might by stupid, and we can all see Lovren trying to clear that ball is because of Kane, but that absolutely does not matter. Kane is not offside until he makes a play on the ball or the player, neither of which he does
Second one I still don’t think it’s a pen. The second one isn't a pen because Lamela is actually offside, but this isn't a case of punishing Van Dijk for existing. He swings through at the ball, a ball he isn't in possession of, and kicks a player who makes his way between himself and the ball. Intent doesn't matter, the fact he doesn't see him doesn't matter, it's a foul. If anything, it's one of the things all the refs seem to agree on. Making a wild swing like that in a crowded penalty box is a silly thing to do.

The quality of Salah's goal doesn't deserve 3 points more than a scrambled tap-in. The referee and linesman asking for a review from TV is actually insane though. A penalty was rightly given, but there was something suspicious about them asking for that info from Martin Atkinson.

lol, I didn't know there was a second Ajax one lol. Make that three, as Napoli blame the failed transfer of a Sassuolo transfer on the fact that Juve and Sass's sporting directors went to college together or something lol.
