By DY_nasty Go To PostIve never seen these many big ballers in a clip before. We laust.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Al Horford were the final selections by LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the 2018 NBA All-Star draft.
"I'm not a flashy player," Aldridge said. "That's OK.
"We're all All-Stars, so, at the end of the day, we should be thankful to be here. Picked first, picked last, it doesn't matter. We're all competitive, too. It won't be the easiest thing to be picked last, but at the end of the day, you're just happy to be here."
Team LeBron held the first and final picks in the draft.
Said Curry: "I think the draft itself would be amazing on TV just to hear the back-and-forth between the captains and see how the teams fill out. But we have to protect our guys' [dignity]. That's the biggest thing."
LaMarcus "just happy to be here" Aldridge.

Honestly, you can't in any good conscience expect someone to keep up with everything happening in this thread when people are talking about the celebrity and rookie games all day. The human mind has its limits.
Also on that point:
I'll put up with republican congress coaching the Raptors for 5 years if it will give them some perspective.

Huh, just found out DSJ can't palm a basketball. Wonder how many pros can't? He needs to get on my level

(Also, Toronto has a higher murder rate than Utah)
By diehard Go To PostDoes Casey really not know about our Constitution?Where are you getting these statistics from?
(Also, Toronto has a higher murder rate than Utah)
From what I could find, Toronto has 2 firearm deaths per 100,000 people and Utah has >10 per 100,000.
Take that gun shit elsewhere. This one of the few fuckin places I don't have to see that dumb unnuanced fucked up talk.
By reilo Go To PostWhere are you getting these statistics from?I was comparing homicide rate, i don't know if there are any reliable gun-related deaths stats for Toronto. I found an article on Ontario but nothing on Toronto.

By DY_nasty Go To Postfor the love of god don't let that shit seep into this threadI agree
I fear Mitchell isn't going to be great tonight, I think he is definately of a more in-game dunker than a dunk contest guy. Oladipo wasn't good a couple years ago i don't know why he is back.
By diehard Go To PostDoes Casey really not know about our Constitution?Listen to that podcast, it's really good. He pretty much says second amendment be damned. From my perspective it's like, the constitution is the foundation of your country. If the foundation of your house is causing a dozen people to die at once every couple of days, frequently children, you're going to fix the damn floor.
(Also, Toronto has a higher murder rate than Utah)
As for murder rate, I'm not sure what your source is on that - there were 39 gun homicides in 2017 in Toronto, 38 in Utah; Toronto is generally considered the safest city in North America. Salt Lake City's is really low, but the Greater Toronto Area has nearly double the population of all of Utah in a more condensed area.
That being said, we're just across the border from Detroit and other problem areas. Absolutely, social problems here need to be constantly looked at, but it would be naive to think trends in the US won't impact us here. I really don't want every person with a grudge and a loose grasp on reality to have access to an assault weapon.
Don't get me wrong, I get that people in rural areas need to be able to defend themselves. And that there are First Nations groups whose culture and livelihood depend on hunting. And that there are heirlooms which have significant personal value and aren't kept to be used. I also think any process of forcibly attempting to round up guns would be an exercise in insanity.
But the idea that everyone needs access to serious weapons forever because someone wrote a sentence down on a piece of paper in the 1790s no matter what the societal cost is irrational. This isn't the politics thread so I won't try to take the conversation further here, but those are my general thoughts on the matter.
