I think a lot of it is reluctance to give up picks right now. A lot of teams have dudes they overpaid in the last two years that are eating up a ton of cap space and they need those first round picks because they need cheap players to balance out insane contracts like giving Andrew Wiggins $150M.
God dammit Willie Reed was a potential cog in my Stanley Johnson/Michael Beasley Detriot/Knicks trade.

So basically today will be: tons of players available and everyone is going to try and low ball each other and see what happens.
By rodeoclown Go To PostCleveland about to solve their problems by getting Clarkson.Nah LBJ is getting sent to L.A.
By joefu Go To PostFor what though lol
By reilo Go To Postlmao Magic, what are you doing? Even if that includes a CLE first...
omg
I was gonna say trash + a late first would have been an unbelievable deal for Nance and Clarkson
Including IT? Looks like a Kemba deal is basically confirmed. They wouldn't do this without going for Kemba.

Not a bad deal for the lakers. Clearly dumping salary to get in on Lebron now that he is going to leave.
By Kibner Go To Postlmao Magic, what are you doing? Even if that includes a CLE first…Clearing minutes for Josh Hart, clearing cap space for this summer, getting a first round pick for players that aren't in your future plans.
I like it for the Lakers.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI was gonna say trash + a late first would have been an unbelievable deal for Nance and ClarksonI don't think that matters. The Cavs got the better players in this deal. It seems like it is just salary relief + "star" power for the Lakers with a late first rounder to help the tank.

By domino Go To Postwe're doing this because they're expiring right? They have to be. It isn't a bad trade but I probably would have preferred to hang on to Nance.
right???
Nance is a fuking stud though. Tough to lose him but its hard to say what IT's value is at this point.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostNance is a fuking stud though. Tough to lose him but its hard to say what IT's value is at this point. His value is an expiring contract to make this trade work. The Lakers are not in the IT game for the long haul. He's gone in two months.
IT2 went from balling his way into a most likely a max contract after earning $6mil/yr, to getting hurt and playing through the injury only to make it worse, losing his sister in a tragic accident the day before a playoff series and still playing the game, being traded to the Cavs, coming back from injury and Lebron hating him, only to be traded by the Cavs a day after his birthday to the Lakers.
I don't know why the Lakers were so desperate to make a move though. There's like...one free agent realistically in play right now, and it's Paul George, and barely.
LeBron to the Lakers has about zero chance
