Been in three or four groups in a row where I was the only melee with three ranged against Kirin. Every time, I'm the only one that doesn't die. =/
Yo, I'm loving this hunting horn from Teostra. Can give the group immunity to all ailments (stun, poison, paralysis, sleep, and blast (?)), increase buildup of those same status' from teammates, and give divine protection (chance to reduce damage taken by 50%).
The weapon itself is ok. Blue sharpness, 798 attack and 390 blast. But those buffs...

Finished crafting all the different hunting horns. Time to finish off the hunter's notes and then get the armor I care about. Gonna take so much zenny. D:
I made a bunch of bone shit for me and my palico. Don't even care if that was smart or not. We look dope af.

Maxed out Palico level (30) and all five of his gadgets (10). Just have his like five different reps to max out and finish off some arena and sinister cloth armor for him to be complete.

except kill kirin. kirin will fuck you up.
So, main story caps you at HR 15. Two tempered Bazelgeuse cap you at 29.
By DY_nasty Go To Postif you're patient, there's nothing it can't doSpeaking of Kirin, your HR is capped at 49 until you beat his tempered version. Tempered, btw, is a super-charged High Rank version of the monsters. D:

Tempered Kirin down. Fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
I don't know what the next HR cap is, but it is above 76.

i think i might be a glaive main from now on though. the damage output got a ways to go, but constant SAFE dps + support is kinda legit

I've.... apparently beaten all the optional quests in the game now. I guess nothing left to do but finish getting all the different gear and cooking ingredients and endemic life captures and palico reputations and raise my HR.
e: oh, there are some arena challenges i guess i could do, too

By Kibner Go To PostIt seems like it would be super fun just hopping and bopping all around everywhere.its really more of the fact that very few monsters can hit above them. you can spin up health or status effect pockets quick and just throw damage up outside of your weapon's attacks too. then you've got the bug cutting or stunning as well. just too many ways to do damage and group heal.
watch kirin fuck me up tho
Actually, it looks like there is one more optional quest once you reach HR 100.
The optional quest I did was one where you have to kill a Legiana, Odaragon, Diablos, and Rathalos in the arena within 25 minutes. That quest is the only place to get a certain drop for a new set of armor, so you will need to beat it ten times if you want both versions of the armor.

Would like to see my damage stats with the bow as compared to longsword
Not sure whether the consistent damage is making up for the lack of damage per hit

Didn't realise you can upgrade old HR armour to be roughly on par with the rarity 8 stuff. Costs a tonne, but still.
Built an attack boost and a health boost set. Will probably do an earplug set at some point, and upgrade the Legiana stuff for the ice damage and quest reward bonus.

Yup! I think the main thing you lose out with some of the weaker HR armor over the more rare ones is gem slots.
e: I use one for my horn guy because I need Horn Maestro skill and it only comes on blue HR gear and I don't want to waste a charm slot on it. Not sure if there is a gem for it but I sure hope so!

One thing that I haven't really had to do in this game (aside from the achievement) is BBQ'ing meat. Which is surprising to me.

By DY_nasty Go To Postyo kibEven the normal tiny ticks? I'll have to find what horns I have prevent those ticks, then. I know I have it. lmao
you can negate all of val's poison stuff with the ailment resist thingy on the horn
all of it
I've mostly been spamming Teostra's weapon.

i thought teostra's could but i have no clue how hammers work
i might pick up the bowgun next actually.... love the glaive but its so gear dependent man. like more than anything else - at the same time parts fly right the fuck off lol. i'm still really pleased with how well each of the weapons are balanced.
I don't remember Teostra's "All Ailments Negated" working on Vaal. I think that only works against poison, paralysis, sleep, effluvial buildup, and stun.
Read a reddit guide and it doesn't mention negating the small tick damage but instead preventing you from losing half max health due to the effluvial buildup immunity.
As for how hunting horns work, each one has various songs that are made up of 3-4 notes played in sequence. Each note corresponds to one of the three attack buttons (circle, triangle, and circle+triangle). Once you play the sequence, you then activate it with a performance which makes your guy do a wide range swing then stand still and toot for a few seconds. There's more, but that's all that people who don't play it need to know.
Oh, the Xeno horn wrecks Kushala because it has a song that negates the wind doing anything to anyone. lmao
e: let me know how the bow gun works. is that the minigun one? because i'm kind of interested in that. loved my heavy in tf2. i am finally feeling comfortable enough with my hunting horn to carry with damage for many fights. still need to work on using the performance attack to actually do more damage and stun + exhaust enemies.

i think it was referring to the halfyourhealthlolz debuff - which is the real problem in that fight
going heavy most likely, but all these mods wtf

It's cool. Just got to high rank. The Zorah battles are dumb af tho and I still don't have a gem I want/need to upgrade my long sword.
