You didn't pick a single lower seed. How boring.
Because upsets basically never happen in the NBA.
2013: 2 lower seeds won in the first round
2012: 3 lower seeds won in the first round
2011: 2 lower seeds won in the first round
2010: 2 lower seeds won in the first round
2009: 2 lower seeds won in the first round
You need a better definition of "never".
If there's about 2 every playoffs I'd guess that Portland and Washington probably have the best shot at upsetting their opponent.
Fun fact: The Spurs have lost in the first round as a #1 and #3 seed since 2009.
Spurs are really hard to judge, they look unbeatable at times and like they don't belong at all some years despite having a very good team. Dallas taking out San Antonio seems fucking crazy, but who knows what happens when you have a bunch of guys playing limited minutes while the opposing starters are getting extended time on the floor.

Well okay - almost all of those were 5 seeds beating 4 seeds, which doesn't really qualify as an upset. The rest were all weird shit happening to San Antonio. Save one, that Philly series - that's a legit upset, but I can't see going 8 over 1 this year.
It wouldn't shock me to see the Hawks upset the Pacers, actually. My picks are the same as LFK's though. The most likely upsets I could see are Grizzlies over Thunder, Wizards over Bulls, Nets over Raptors, and Blazers over Rockets in order of most to least likely. The Grizzlies are really hot right now and are finally healthy, the Bulls and Raptors have some identity problems and tend to have bad scoring droughts, and the Rockets will need to have Harden and Parsons shoot well in the series to make up for all the 3s that their poor perimeter defense allows.Because upsets basically never happen in the NBA.

Former NBA player Smush Parker allegedly punches teen recruit in pickup basketball

Watching Stephen A. Smith turn against the Knicks is deeply satisfying.
As the Knicks' excruciating season finally comes to an end, it’s almost painful to admit that the Nets are everything the Knicks were supposed to be. And there’s no reason to believe that will change anytime soon. Even with Phil Jackson in the house.
It’s the Knicks who are not in the playoffs. It’s the Knicks who couldn’t reach 40 wins this season. It’s the Knicks who have losses to Milwaukee and Philadelphia on their résumé, who managed to surrender 51 points in a quarter to a Lakers squad without Kobe Bryant or Steve Nash and who were saddled with nine- and seven-game losing streaks.
…
The thing is, Kidd and the Nets could have suffered the same fate as the Knicks. After all, they started out 10-21. Yet despite vouching for Lawrence Frank and securing a six-year, $6 million deal for the high-profile assistant, Kidd didn’t hesitate to get rid of Frank when he decided his former New Jersey head coach was undermining him.
Essentially, Kidd said, “I’m the man in charge. I run this show.” He was backed up by King, who was backed up by Mikhail Prokhorov, who was willing to swallow the $6 million. All the Nets have done is register one of the best records in the league since Jan. 1.
The Knicks, clearly, can’t say the same.
Nobody knows this better than Carmelo Anthony, who conversed with chairman James Dolan after he released Grunwald to ask why Dolan would do such a thing. According to sources, Melo asked Dolan, “What kind of a message does it send to get rid of someone who just helped us win 54 games? What are we supposed to think or feel?"
Watching Stephen A. Smith turn against the Knicks is deeply satisfying."Living the Knicks dream": making the playoffs as a 6 seed in the East and having a minimal chance of advancing past the second round?
lol, we're both stuck with our injury prone players.Going forward I think that Lopez will be best suited as our 6th man, giving us scoring off the bench and occasionally joining the starters against teams like the Pacers. He would solve our problems against those huge defenders. He won't have to log as many minutes that way and Plumlee fits the Kidd system better.
On the other hand, if we had Rose playing alongside Deron, with Livingston off the bench, I think Kidd might cream himself.
Honest question, if the Ukraine situation escalates and Obama toughens the sanction against Russian elites and freezes the assets of Prokhorov, what happens to the Nets?

Stephen A Smith writing an article to help Melo get to Chicago. Thank you Stephen.
Honest question, if the Ukraine situation escalates and Obama toughens the sanction against Russian elites and freezes the assets of Prokhorov, what happens to the Nets?Prok moved ownership to a Russian company that sanctions wouldn't be able to touch. He started this process years ago but I bet he's glad he did.
He's in a delicate position right now. He's not happy with what's going on, he's never been a friend of Putin, but he can't really say shit about it for obvious reasons.
If Screamin A is shitting on the Knicks then they'll be ok. All Woodson supporters need to be banished.

Well then that's great. It's a delicate situation. I am not sure so sure about not being a friend of Putin though, since there are people who suspected him running against Putin was part of the ploy to help Putin.

It's bad for business. He also did campaign for gay rights so there's that.
Do their hundreds really smell like maple syrup? I really want that to be true.Heat in 4 and bobcats in 6?

Gawwwd damn I can't wait for the playoffs.I wish the game started later. I'm planning to do things Friday night, and I don't want to wake up to an alarm clock on Saturday.
so much exciting ball starting at lunch time
If anybody wants to read a ludicrous amount of statistical analysis between Raps & Nets, including breakdowns of shit I didn't even know you could break down (really? You can measure how guys defend screens?), here you go:
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1316250
A couple of surprises there. I thought the difference between the two benches was bigger than that.

I watched a Coach Nick vid where he basically said we're fucked. It looks like the narrative is that we're real underdogs in this matchup, which will make the upset all the sweeter.

EC:
Indiana Pacers vs Atlanta Hawks. I think the Pacers win in 5
Miami Heat vs Charlotte Bobcats Heat sweep, but 2 of the games are pretty close.
Toronto Raptors vs Brooklyn Nets Nets in 6. Just because of their veteran play.
Chicago Bulls vs Washington Wizards Bulls in 6. But to be honest, I haven't seen much of the Wizards this season. Same goes for the Cats actually.
WC:
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks Spurs sweep.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies Thunder in 7. Can't see the Griz pulling off the game 7 upset in OCK. Westbrook and Durant would get like a combined 40 free throws.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Golden State Warriors Clippers in 6, but I can see Curry winning 2 games on crazy shooting on his own.
Houston Rockets vs Portland Trail Blazers Upset special. Just a gut feeling.

problem is there aren't any numbers for fucks, which is something the Nets haven't had until exactly this moment

Giving all the fucks left in their viagra-needing bodies isn't going to stop Kyle Lowry from running a one-man train on those guys.

I'm watching the 30 by 30 Bad Boys. Interesting, although it doesn't make me like them. Fuck the bad boys except for Dennis Rodman. Yes, I'm a hypocrite.

Who cares about the playoffs. We already know that the Heat have it locked up and not because they're that good. On to 2015.

I wonder what the basketball gods watch more - youtube fan videos, or coaches pretending to spill drinks on the court to get extra timeouts, and throwing games to avoid playoff opponents they're terrified of?
And come on - tell me you didn't laugh at 'create-a-player.'
