It's wild they got Sting as Sting. I mean, the name isn't trademarked at all?
I mean "What's the Scorpion Man doing in AEW" would've been funny aswell but hey.

He owns it and took it with him for that disastrous wwe run with the loss to Hunter and the injury to Seth Rollins.
It was pretty cool that Tony Schiavone was on the call for the debut. Sting back on TNT after decades.

He went there and got jobbed out for a year. Thanks, Vince.
By domino Go To PostSting really still making waves out here in 2020?Wrestling will never be as good as it used to be so yes
The Sting thing is emblematic of why I gave up on AEW, by the way. They're so overly reliant on former WWE/WCW guys that it's comical and the way they treat their women's division is a joke. Aside from Omega, their top guys are almost exclusively WWE wash outs (I'd say Moxley is the only one that would still be relevant over there), and even if the writing is better, I have no interest in watching dudes like Cody Rhodes wrestle or watching a plodding Jericho match in 2020.
I think Jericho might do one more year of full time wrestling and then move to commentary and maybe an odd match here or there.
Atleast they're using him to showcase upcoming talent and he's even doing the job for them.
Cody is still a main eventer in his head and he's still over with most fans so, why not. He can have great matches with the right opponent.
And as for a lot of the being ex WWE is kind of a given the way they've been hoarding talent over the years.
Overall the product is better than WWE and yes, their women's division needs a lot of work.

Especially ones who are ready to step in and be stars. Their women’s division is weak but they’ve been doing a fantastic job with the rest of the product and the Impact partnership should help with the women’s roster issues.

Dude is gold on the mic and pretty good in the ring.

They pushed Kingston into main even status pretty damn quickly. They're using the guys who are readymade stars or were misused and putting them in programs to make stars out of new talent.
By Nelo Ice Go To PostSo Thanos Kenny Omega.AEW World Championship
AAA Mega Championship (he's defending it on Saturday night in Mexico)
Impact Championship (he can take it off Rich Swann)
We'll see if NWA wants in on any of this, but they've literally shut down right now.
Paul 'The Big Show' Wight has joined AEW. He'll be a commentary guy although wrestling doesn't seem to be out of the question.
By RATHasReturned Go To PostWhat if Rodman/Malone comes out aswell?
Tomorrow. If Shaq wrestles for more than a minute I be shocked.
It's a NBA reunion!
By domino Go To Postcant believe they got Shaq to do a table spot and he did it perfectlyEven his powerbomb looked clean as hell.
By Tony Hank's Pro Skater Go To Postwhat kinda flex is this lmaoYeah, I would put Suzuki & Danielson on tv but TK is out for blood it seems.
why free?
Ill talk about next full gear spoiler matches after Saturday if y’all interested. Chopped it up with Excalibur for about 3 hrs jus now lol.
Is this the ones "spoiled" by TK holding his notepad in front of the camera or ?
Damn, Excalibur is great, proper jealous.

I've not been paying attention to wrestling this week? Bryan Vs Suzuki is on in a few hours? On YouTube? I see Punk is wrestling Matt Sydal too. We are living in blessed times brothers.
AEW is so confusing I thought this would be the Rampage ep
why would they burn that match on a friday night youtube show

Slightly gushing post coming up:
Watched the rest of Rampage and loved Punk Vs Sydal. I've really been impressed by Punk since his return. He's gone out of his way to wrestle younger guys and midcarders, gave them plenty of time to get their offence in and make them look very competitive.
I wasn't expecting him to look this good so early into his comeback. Thought we'd see more ring rust. But he's looked quite good against opponents of different styles. The fast brawler in Allin, the strongman in Hobbs, the technical wrestler in Garcia and the high-flier in Sydal. It's a great way to ease your way back into things. Taking on guys who wrestle in different ways to challenge yourself to reach your old level.
Punks style is pretty old school. He takes his time and lets holds and storytelling play a bigger part in his matches. Seems to be meshing well with the guys who were brought up and trained in a quicker style. You can tell he used to run a wrestling school.

Yeah Punk's matches have been great, love him taking a lot of Bret's style and adding it to his own.
Junior Dos Santos didn't look to bad either, his punches need a little more work because they looked really silly at times.
Solid, solid Rampage yet again.

Suzuki/Bryan was different. Glad I stayed up the extra 30mins watching it.
As for Punk I figured if he bothered to ever come back he'd have to look a whole lot better than in WWE, otherwise why even bother putting on the extra wear and tear.

This is rather embarrassing for WWE. They put their biggest stars for the show that was going head to head with AEW and couldn't beat them in the TV ratings.

Tony Khan was raised on the old wrestling message boards. He's shitposting his way to victory tonight.
Malakai is probably my favorite guy to follow in wrestling right now. And I don't even think he's THAT great of a wrestler, but I really want to do know where his storyline is going, he's got an amazing look & intro and he's really committed to the character. Haven't felt that way since Mil Muertes in Season 2 of LU
I'm hoping him & PAC eventually get the world title.

The G1 Final between Ibushi and Okada was stopped after 20 minutes due to a legitimate injury to Ibushis arm after he landed awkwardly from a Phoenix Splash. That's a disaster for New Japan. The G1 Final is their biggest match of the year after the main event of Wrestle Kingdom.
On a personal level it's awful for Ibushi too. He was poorly booked during his Heavyweight/Intercontinental champion reign. Injured his neck, got Covid and was out for months. His momentum has stalled entirely.

Shibatas return is fantastic. Although as a fan I'll be terrified watching him wrestle. Iirc there were legitimate concerns that he could die following that Okada match. Hopefully he'll be ok.
And having his return bout be against Zack Sabre Jr under the grapple based UWF rules was a masterstroke. ZJF is the best grappler in the world and can walk you through that in his sleep.

Cleff, any chance of the big dogs (Okada and Ibushi are the only Japanese ones I know tbh) in NJPW ever doing a Suzuki-like tour?

I think they will eventually. Japans Covid regulations have been very strict so afaik NJPW has been reluctant to send across their biggest stars. They want to keep them working for their company without having to isolate upon returning from abroad.
But since AEW has a working relationship with NJPW, it's only a matter of time until they cross over. I'm sure that's part of the reason why Bryan Danielson signed for them too. He wants to wrestle Okada, Tanahashi, Ibushi etc.
Btw you should try and watch as many Tanahashi matches as you can. He's the GOAT in my eyes.
