don't think you're gonna find a prebuilt 4k gaming system for that price range, m8.
but I was gonna mention xbox one x too lol.

xbox one x
I would buy a one x if my main reasons for upgrading werent tied to emulation.
Corsair need to be sent to the gallows for the default SFX PSU cables. Far too rigid to weave through a small case. Spent another £40 on paracord sleeved cables to make it cleaner inside.
If you can get a deal on a prebuilt with a 1060/580, then possibly yeah. The 4K won’t always be max settings or 60FPS though and it’ll depend on where you live (UK prices on graphics cards aren’t as highly inflated as they are in the US for instance).

"Cheap(700-900), 4k, prebulit"

By Zabojnik Go To PostReilo, please unpin (or whatever) the 2017 thread and pin this one instead. Thx.
This one is "promoted". I did so when I created it. Not sure what's up with the 2017 one.

You sure you've not pinned the 2017 one yourself?
The 2017 thread is not promoted.

Yeah, let OPs embed animated wallpapers as the background for threads.
e: and sound files, too
e2: basically, let OPs make a thread their personal geocities site

I need this whole thread to be a sparkling rainbow with the Final Countdown playing in the background.
By Laboured Go To PostHe has and he's too embarrassed to say. Reilo ad some RGB lights to his UI.Maybe I did, maybe it was just a bug. We'll never know for sure.
Finally finished it off. Downsized from a Core V21 to a Cougar QBX.
From my old build, I used:
Ryzen 5 1600
EVGA SC2 1080
Team Group 16Gb RAM
240GB SSD
1TB 2.5inch HDD
And new parts for the case:
Corsair SF600 PSU
Asus B350i motherboard
Noctua NH-D9L
Sleeved PSU cables
By Kibner Go To PostThat's a very clean looking build. Nice work!It was a nightmare to work with. None of the HDD slots were ideal, had to make one up for the 2.5inch drive and Velcro strap the SSD down.
Also had to drill a couple holes in that side cage to mount the fan.
Happy with it overall at least. Acceptable temps inside the case too.
By RobNBanks Go To PostIs it affordable to build a pc yetIf you’ve already got RAM and a GPU, yes.
There’s some amazing deals flying around on motherboards and CPUs lately (in the UK at least). Ryzen 1600 has gone as low as £136 through Amazon not that long ago, normally sits at around 150-160.
By Smokey Go To Postbest time ever to buy a prebuilt tbhWas thinking about it but everything is all gamerfied lookin like a transformer
By RobNBanks Go To PostWas thinking about it but everything is all gamerfied lookin like a transformerYou can always transfer the pre-built components into a case of your choosing. You give up on any warranty, though, and may have to reapply thermal paste and the like.
Actually, I may have a (very) well used Antec P-180b around somewhere if you just want to pay shipping.
By reilo Go To PostYou could buy a pre-built and just sell the graphics cards for profit 😂this has actually been a thing for a while
thinking I might just keep using my 970 but buy everything else new and hope that at some point GPUs are affordable to the non-1%.
Was looking at prebuilts but they’re disgusting.

RAM tho. The prices are still awful for that at the moment.
I've got a passable GPU, but would need a new mobo/CPU/much more memory and updated at that (8 GB of DDR3-1600 currently).
I can wait another 8-9 months though, this is a bit of a niche build plan right now.

What kinda niche? Do tell.
Did my taxes I’m getting $2000 back which is way more than I imagined since I only started working in Sept
Damn shame these prices are insane cuz I could have built a really good PC. Went to BestBuy to check out their 4K movies and saw they sell an HP Omen for $1150, 7700 + GTX 1070, was tempted to buy it on the spot but like I said earlier I’m leaning towards just building a whole new PC and reusing my 970 and RAM. What do you think is the best option?

Congrats. You can now buy a 1070.

I'd say either prebuilt or full build minus GPU, hold on to the 970 and wait for the next line up of Nvidia cards.

If you got the 970 when it was new you most likely have DDR3 which you won't be able to use in a new build. Buying a pre-built (Dell's are 10% off online right now) with a 1070 or 1070 Ti, selling it and putting your 970 in would be the most cost effective build.

Is there any way to check?
By HottestVapes Go To PostWhat kinda niche? Do tell.I want to build a machine that can handle gaming and streaming PC/PS4 (in the future) content, but more importantly will be for storage and digitization of at least 60 VHS tapes from the early 90s-early 2010 period for Internet/cloud storage. I will need a massive HDD (8 TB) for starters, still researching what else I need.

I will need a massive HDD (8 TB) for starters, still researching what else I need.If you want to get real fancy, you can get away with this being just a storage + streaming box and avoid a pricey graphics card altogether. Since you are wanting to be streaming your ps4 through this pc, it's going to need to be able to do that anyway.
The stream encoders that use the cpu have much better quality than the ones that use the gpu, but are more detrimental to overall system performance while encoding. So, many streamers often have a pc that basically only encodes using the cpu so that their main gaming rig doesn't take a performance hit while still producing a great looking stream.
Then you can get an actual gaming pc later when gaming video cards are back at a reasonable price level.
The best time to get a new GPU will probably be when Nvidia releases their new cards this yr tbh. You'll have to get in as soon as preorders open. Other than that I don't see the opportunity to get a MSRP GPU anytime soon (in America).

I’m pretty sure it’s ddr4 because I upgraded my ram last year. I’ll have to check when I get home

Two things I would like to clarify though:

1) I want to do gameplay recordings to YouTube mainly, not Livestreams. I'm no Markiplier here, I might do a Livestream once every few months or so but it wouldn't be a primary thing. Probably shouldn't have mentioned streaming, my bad.
2) Though my path to recording will be through PS4 in the future, I'd do PC content too. So I need that card eventually for my current or next build. My current 550Ti plays everything now but not sure if I tried Overwatch it would play 60 FPS on 1080 resolution, Medium settings.
Looking at which monitor to get and everything has red accents

Buying a laptop is a pain in the arse. Seems like there are a million variations on the same thing and all of them are compromised in some way or another. Buying one for the wife for work and home - budget £800 - £1,200
Basic needs:
Numberpad
SSD
Normal USB slots
Windows 10
Not too big/heavy
Preferably not HP or Toshiba as I have had bad experiences with them in the past.
Any recommendations?

I can vouch for Lenovo Thinkpad T- and X-Series for being quality. Not sure how the prices work out over there, though.
Ugly as sin, but they are durable as all hell and traditionally have excellent keyboards.

Going all in on Noctua slim fans for my ITX case. I hate how they look, but can’t argue with their performance or noise output.
Ordered two 120mm for now, gonna go for another two and a second 92mm for my NH-D9L. Not that it needs a second fan since it’s already running incredibly cool considering the small case and moderate overclock. Just want to complete the brown and beige look.

agree with kibner, lenovo's are solid. model depends on your region, we could suggest which one to pick if you narrow it down to a few.
Thanks for the advice nearly went for a lenovo but we looked around PC World and she liked the look and feel of the Dells so we got an inspiron 7373 and an external numberpad for work. Going to get the humble rockstar bundle and install GTA Vice city on it when I get home.

If not, you may have issues in a couple years. It seems that the business line of laptops from various companies are the only lines that are made with any nod towards reliability at all.
