Hey guys I'm going to put together all the components of my computer (new CPU/GPU/PSU/RAM) this Saturday, will anyone be around on SLAENT or Discord to chat if I decide to OC immediately?
Sweet. I'm going to setup in the morning and have everything ready for the OC by afternoon so I can decompress. I'll make sure to be fully ready by Saturday night.
By rerixo Go To Postthanks man, I appreciate this. the ghost s1 looks pretty great actually, I hadn't heard about it. I've been watching build videos on youtube to get a feel for what I'd like most, I'm starting to get more confident that I can actually build one of these if I get the parts right at least. I'll probably call on you help me out there xd where I'm at right now is deciding between the dan a4 and ghost s1, both are really nice but it seems the ghost s1 is more restrictive with aio? I don't want a top hat because it looks ridiculous, and it looks difficult to fit a small radiator under the psu like you do with the dan a4.
also I came across this video, and I'm starting to understand how people get sucked deep into these builds lmao
Yeah the Ghost S1 only supports radiators with a top hat. The upside is it supports upto a 240mm AIO, but the downside is the price and looks.
My personal pick right now would be between a Geeek A50/A60 or a DAN A4-SFX V4 when they release over the Ghost S1.
Alternatively, go with the NCase M1 for optimal cooling. It’s a similar layout to the Streacom DA2 case but it’s smaller and fits thicker GPUs.
Ghost S1 featuring more top hats than is neccesary.
Side by side NCase M1 and Streacom DA2.

the attention to detail on the cooling is crazy
might be like my boy laboured and go the prebuilt route next 🤔
By diehard Go To Postall those fans just re-circulating hot air. The tempered glass version of that case is dumb.
what case is it?
By Smokey Go To Postwhat case is it?I think it's a proprietary case of theirs, but the normal one
actually has intake for the radiator fans
By diehard Go To Postsome people still need hard drives
Only one of those cases is incompatible with 3.5inch drives. There's levels to it, breh.
So after the fresh install I've got all my apps back on my rig, except NZXT CAM software, which is monitoring software and also controls my Kraken x62. The version on their website won't instlal because I have a newer version of C++ Redistributable than it wants. Before I uninstalled and "downgraded" to the version it's asking for, I looked around the NZXT Reddit. I had no idea there was such division about that software, and apparently it's needed online connection, the data it collects etc. I've never thought about it because it started up with my rig. Clearly NZXT is hearing about it from customers too, but so far have decided not to change the way the software collects info, or it's always online requirement.
So. I may take another look at the Corsair H100i Platinum AIO series. That would bring my cooling into the Corsair ecosystem (where I am currently using 4 products), and get me away from having to use another piece of separate software (NZXT CAM). I still think the Kraken x62 is the best looking AIO on the market though.

So I just swapped out all the components of my rig (
CPU - I5-3570k
GPU - Asus Dual 1070
Power Supply - EVGA 750 G2
RAM - Corsair Pro LP 16 GB
I check my BIOS and my MB temp is 36c but my CPU temp shows 99c. WTF? Fans are working and I dunno why I'm getting that reading, I didn't OC the system. I did notice my CLR CMOS light is up... did already and no change.

By Zabojnik Go To PostSounds like a case of incorrectly installed heatsink, not making proper contact. Recheck.
^^
That. Did you change the cooler? If it's new, did you take the clear sticker off the bottom of it and re-apply (if necessary) the thermal paste?
Are the fans all spinning too?

By HottestVapes Go To Post^^Yep, heat sink was not down all the way but now I have a 2nd problem. I've been using a Innovation Cooling Graphite Thermal Pad in place of thermal paste and because the heat sink wasn't secured it slipped off the CPU and it's somewhere in my machine. LOVELY.

Also I need a new cooler before I think of OCing. Stock Intel crap in there now.
By SUPER YARAK Go To Postwew frankLEAVE ME ALONE... at least I found the dang thing.
Currently ordering a Cryiorg H7 because I forgot the other H7 cooler I bought was actually for my sister's build. No OCing tonight unfortunately.

lol
Temps are still 10-15 warmer than before (60c), but the issue is mostly resolved. New cooler will arrive in a week or so.

Ok... long story but apparently a couple of the bottom rivets on the Intel stock cooler aren't clamping well to the mobo, which created a space so the Thermal pad kept falling out. However I noticed it only happened when the computer was right side up. My cooler isn't set to arrive for another week, so in order to avoid hassle I'm keeping the machine on its side until I can switch the cooler out.

Visions of graphite pad frying the back of your GPU.

RGB is so 2018 m8
the video is available in 8k60 too. my CPU gets up to 20% usage when watching it lol. But no stutter or slowdown.
Monitor: Dell UP3017Q - 4K OLED Monitor
GPUs: 2x RTX TITAN SLI @ 2100Mhz / 16002Mhz
MoBo: Asus Rampage V Extreme (X99)
CPU: i7 6950X @ 4.30GHz
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3200Mhz (64GB)
PSU: Corsair AX1500i
CASE: Cooler Master Cosmos II
OS: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
Games/Programs: Samsung 840 EVO (RAID-0) / Samsung 850 EVO
holy FUCK
Perfect SLI scaling. This is as high end as it gets on the graphics front. $5000 for the GPUs alone. That OLED monitor was only on sale for a very small time and was $5000.
im schleep
So my laptop died and I am going to have to buy a new one. Currently looking at a HP Omen 15 Intel Core i7+ 8750H 2,2 GHz / 16 GB DDR4-2666 / 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD + 1TB 7200RPM SATA for 1100€.
Will only be doing some ocasional gaming, I need it more for audio/video editing and DJ software but that doesn't require much horsepower.
Doesn't seem like a bad deal for me, it's 15% off right now until Sunday. Haven't seen many cheaper options for something similar.
