By RAThasReturned Go To PostYou people made me check the prices on BestBuy.com. Yeah, Sony is expensive compared to LG. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/tv-deals?cp=2&qp=brand_facet%3DBrand~LG%5Ebrand_facet%3DBrand~Sony&sp=-currentprice%20skuidsaas.
LG gives you more inches for your money.

I think transparent screens are gonna have some cool implications for the broader tech/gadget world, but I sure as shit don't want it in a TV.
my car has that things that makes it look like you have a transparent screen for some info so you don't need to take your eyes off the road. but it's very small and you have to look at it at the right angle.
no idea if they could put that tech in a windshield but that would be neat.

By Pedja Go To PostI'm just trying to figure out how he will use this to flex on us.flexing my prius.
it looks kinda like this.
Yeah, HUDs like that have been around a while. Some project onto the windscreen and others use a small bit of transparent plastic as the display.
Yeah HUD's are pretty common these days. My dad has a 2023 Qashqai that also has it. It's remarkable how much you have to sit at the right angle to even see it.

If she is and she see's the pointer bouncing all over the screen she's running up to the TV, looking at the cursor and plotting a way to chase...scratch the screen. With these transparent displays, what's to stop a human from accidentally banging in to one or a pet for trying to jump through the thing. Their video shows a cat jumping. Man, actual cats are gonna try and jump through that thing.

Fired up the UHD of Planet Earth III. What a series. Reference quality stuff. Awesome to watch and hear the destruction of our planet in such quality.
My C9 started having weird intermittent issues (black screens for extended times, audio crackles, forgetting settings). Called up the warranty provider who said they need to decide if they send someone out or just cut me a voucher for a replacement TV.
Any idea if the alternatives to an LG are worth it yet? I know Sony and Samsung have QD-OLEDs, but I remember hearing some issues

Sonys are supposed to be great for films
By Smokey Go To PostIdk manewhy
I surprisingly quite like the MiniLED display on my mac, the blooming and dimming zones look much better than expected.
That said, the motion on this monitor is trash for a 120hz display, if the Sony can do it well there's no reason it can't be a great TV
That said with the price Sony charges...

Not a big fan of mini LED tech in general, but Sony's seems way ahead of what we've been getting so far. Price is gonna be out there for sure tho.
lg’s os sucks.
every once in a while, my cx will become almost completely unresponsive and then i have to have to reset my network settings again for it to come back to live.
still haven’t updated yo the latest version because i’m reading on reddit that it actually dims the brightness.

My CX55 has been a trooper. From using it as a monitor to moving it over to being a bedroom TV.
Still looking to eventually replace my hand-me-down Samsung TU7000 75’. 77’ OLEDs just seem to keep dropping in price though, so I’m not rushing. Was looking at a B series LG 77’ for £2300 a few months back. Recently saw a Samsung S90C for £1900. Even an LG C3 right now is down to £2000.
Shame the 83’ models aren’t coming down to below 3K. I’d be all over something bigger for the living room. Just to fill the wall out and feel like a more significant upgrade.

LG C4 confirmed to be 40% brighter than the C3.
About that time for my CX to hang it up.

My TV from 2015 has developed a hot spot so i guess it's time to replace it.
All i use it for is crappy quality sports and some youtube (from an Apple TV 4k). Trying to decide if getting a 55' C3 for $1200 or so is worth it over getting like a Hisense U8K (mini-LED) for like $700.
While i don't really need the better picture quality of an OLED, it's such a pain going through the process of replacing a mounted TV that i figure i might as well get one. Still unsure, though.

An OLED is always worth it. Always.
I have a C8 from 2018 and that bastard is still going strong despite me hoping it will die so I can buy a newer one.
