We recently bought a Sony 85" A90J as a client monitor for work. It was on sale for $4500.
We need to reduce glare/reflection.
Any recommendations on anti glare screens?

By reilo Go To PostWon't that interfere with color grading?I don't know? Will it?
I'm assuming there are screens that dont cast color contamination nor affect brightness /dark levels.
By Kibner Go To PostBuild a booth around it to block lights.Opposite end of the client monitor is a one way mirror where the artists work in the other side of the wall.
The artists can see into the viewing room but client cannot see into the artists work room
Unfortunately the mirror inside the viewing room reflects light coming from the monitor.
By Kabro Go To PostI don't know? Will it?No, not really. Any time you add a layer of something especially anti-reflective coating it will dull the color and and blur the pixels. Obviously YMMV but if IQ and color accuracy are important to you, you'll be running up against this no matter what.

By Kabro Go To PostFuck. Welp. Guess we will have to control light another way.Yeah, that is why my suggestion was to build a booth. :(
I love my Sonos setup, but between the sub, Arc, and 2x One SLs, the price of the sub (749) gave me the most pause. It definitely adds to the experience, but that price 😭
Good to see them come out with a Mini to alleviate some of that .

Yeah, especially given that I'm in a flat with people above and below, I don't need a sub that goes super loud

It is now like $400 more expensive than it used to be. D:
The subwoofer definitely isn’t overpriced, it’s actually one of the rare value for money products Sonos sell.
But I think it’s good they add a smaller version for those who can’t house the big one if they stand on preserving a good relationship with one’s neighbors.

TCL's natural cinema(judder reduction) actually works pretty well. wouldn't turn it on for good stuff but for soap opera tier shit like the boys? not bad tbh
Will be picking up a 48" Philips 806 OLED on Monday. Would've preferred the 55" but the room just doesn't allow for anything bigger than 50". The LG 48" has 4x HDMI 2.1 to the Philips's 2 but it's about £300 more.
Officially an OLED boi. Blown away by the fact that I can't find a spare ethernet cable in this house.

55". answer very carefully brother.
Saw the Samsung S95B in person. It's definitely brighter than the woled tech in LG tvs. But it's Samsung. And no Dolby Vision.
I think I'm going to look heavy at upgrading to the Sony A95K successor next year. There's no 77'' option this year and I refuse to go back to 65''. It'll be the second year of RGB OLED tech, and Sony should be using Mediateks new chip, which will finally allow HDMI 2.1 on all 4 ports.
Will also probably be ~$6,000 if I had to guess. The A95K 65'' is already $4,000...

Received my Sub. It's very nice at rounding out the sound, but I'm able to pick up the direction a bit too much on scenes where the low frequencies are heavily represented.
Need to do a crawl to figure out the best position for it, but I need to find a source that will make that easy. Anything anyone recommends?

The 14.12 Sonos update fucked up the Sub when used with an Arc, 14.18 came out today and seems to have fixed it. I know a couple of the lads on here have both, so probably worth an update
Lads look at this absolute unit 😳
Didn’t even know they made a 97” G2.
$25,000. At that size and $$$ imma need my TV to be 8k.

I would love to replace my 77CX with a second gen QD-OLED or Sonys Master Series miniLED next year. Been wanting to go to a Sony but hopefully they implement Mediateks new chip which will allow for 4x HDMI 2.1 ports.

During the Tokyo Olympics I started to noticed the UHD logo appearing on the onscreen graphics for the three major Korean OTA broadcasters. It was through my set top IPTV box that has UHD channels. the menu icon never changed to UHD which meant it was receiving the signal.
I wasn’t sure if Korean just turned it on during the olympics and my set too box didn’t update to show that in its menu.
Read on a Korean Playstation forum that they don’t broadcast it through the set top box, but you can use a UHD antenna to get the channels.
Bought one last night and was delivered before I woke up haha. Hooked it up and found the channels instantly.
Was just broadcasting the news, which didn’t look UHD quality, but looking forward to testing it out for the world cup to night.

My eyes have been changed. UHD HDR live football is incredible.
Very impressed and will find it hard to go back to non HDR sports.
Incredible that this is done over the air.

Very nice.
They have three national broadcasters showing all the World Cup games in UHD, but only one is in HDR. The two UHD only channels look an upgrade on the regular 1080i channel, but the channel broadcasting in HDR is just next level. Insane upgrade in quality.
Tried the UHD through the iPlayer but it looked dull and a bit washed out. Colours didn't pop as much as the OTA.
Lads, I need some guidance on the TVs I currently have and where you would put them.
I have a Samsung TU7000 75’ in the living room and a LG CX55 upstairs. I was thinking of swapping them around and having the smaller but better CX55 downstairs and moving the TU7000 upstairs to the main bedroom.
After using it a bit, the size of the TU7000 is kinda winning me over as a living room TV though. It’s over half the length of the wall it’s on currently.
The downside is that it only does 4K/60hz and the HDR and viewing angles are pretty poor.

LCD during daytime is a deal breaker for me especially with how badly color calibrated modern TV shows are

LG has today announced new A3, B3, C3, G3 and Z3 OLED TVs. LG G3 will get Brightness Booster Max and reach significantly higher brightness. 2023 models also get HDMI 2.1 QMS.
LG explains that a new "light control architecture", which it confirmed is a hardware component in G3 OLED, combined with a new light boosting algorithm is what makes G3 with Brightness Booster Max "up to 70% brighter" full-screen versus regular OLED TVs such as B2/B3. However, it only applies to G3 in 55, 65 and 77 inches. The 83 and 97-inch panels should be 30-40% brighter.
An LG spokesperson said that peak brightness for G3 will be somewhere in the range of 1800 nits and "maybe slightly brighter on Vivid setting".
And for the first time HDMI 2.1 QMS (Quick Media Switching) which eliminates the "HDMI bonk" (black screen) when switching between refresh rates (24Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz etc.). Apple TV 4K (2022) is the first playback device to support QMS.
- "The new LG OLED TV models support a wide range of functions that are compatible with HDMI 2.1a. They are also the first televisions to be certified by the HDMI organization for the recently announced Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR). QMS-VRR eliminates the short-term black screen when switching between content from different sources connected via the HDMI 2.1a-compatible ports of the TV," said LG Germany.
