You made the correct choice, the LG is a much better all-rounder for the price you pay.
The Sony excels in Film, but not unless that's all you intend to do with it.

Linius i saw the Samsung Q950T on sale for $499 and copped it for my dad. Went against your advice but the price seemed good.
It's up but house is being decorated and a mess so pics soon. Fuck me, my 55 seems like a toddler compared to this beast. Sound is way better than I've heard on a standard TV.

Never heard those, we only sold TVs from Samsung. But considering they bought Harman to improve their audio stuff it should be a decent product. Hope he enjoys it!

Are you gonna get some external audio solution?

mmhmm
77” is the perfect size for entertainment.
@linius gunna go beolab 28s and a sub. Just realised TV been mounted a centimeter off now I can't unnotice it
I have a setup in the office/man cave. Wife doesn't want another bulky setup in the living room so I've been thinking bout the echo studio. Amazon says they are Dolby Atmos ready but I've never heard them myself before.
Anyone recommend any small sleek av type box or just something where I can keep my sky, PS and switch. Not really looking for a cabin or anything big just some kind of small storage space that I can a few wires to.
By Laboured Go To PostPls do not encourage Zabo's worst impulses.Way too late. QD-OLED monitor first tho.
By Daz Go To Postis there a big difference between OLED and QD OLED?
and what happened to QLED?
QD-OLED looking to be the truth. Some users have it on era and AVS. Brightness and color are much improved over the LG OLEDs
Definitely upgrade worthy to me. They don't have a 77'' this year tho...

Got the LGC1. My only complaint is that I suffered some light motion sickness...I'm hearing this is due to the way OLED handles motion. I didn't even put it into gaming mode or look into black frame insertion and I was already kind of getting used to it, so don't think this will be an issue, but wtf, did not expect.
The 120hz gaming is terrific of course. Picture looks great. No input lag issues without even putting it on game mode. Brightness by default was a bit lower than LED, but nothing an adjustment couldn't fix. HDR looks great. It's a great set.
I wouldn't say that it looks better than my KS8000 though (or vice versa). LED tech has gotten to the point where blacks look terrific. With a 9.9 from RTings on black uniformity and a 9.3 rating on contrast (https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000), there aren't going to be many conditions where the difference is all that obvious imo. And on the other hand, the brightness is great.
Hopefully adjustmnets to the C1 eliminate any need for "training" against its motion. It's strange because the motion itself doesn't look strange at all visually to me. Like I heard 30fps content can look weird compared to LED. It didn't look weird, looked fine, but something about it was not pleasing to my inner ear.

Yeah, it takes a while to get used to.
Have you tried enabling 'cinematic movement' or whatever the least invasive motion smoothing option is called on the C1?
It should get rid of the most offensive juddering without introducing artifacts / soap opera effect.

wtf is up with the KS8000 gang, feel like half the football thread (including me) had it as well. Was a big upgrade going from c9 from that.
By WoodenLung Go To Postwtf is up with the KS8000 gang, feel like half the football thread (including me) had it as well. Was a big upgrade going from c9 from that.At the time, it was an affordable 4k tv with great picture and very good input lag for gaming (albeit only in 4:2:0 chroma sub-sampling mode, iirc; turning on HDMI UHD Color adds an extra frame of input lag @ 60hz).
It was never very good at HDR, even for it's time, because of how few local dimming zones it had. Everything else about it was fantastic, though.
I've sold a fair amount of KS8000's, was truly a great tv at the time. But let's not pretend as if it's matching the current OLEDs.
Former D8000 owner myself by the way. It took me a while to make the step to the future.

RIP WOLED, you had a good run.
You see it
Crazy outchea
By Linius Go To Post3400 euros for a 65 inch though, wewI saw it here for about 1950 euro the other day.
A 77 inch C1 can be found at 2800 euros over here
Electronics are one of the few things that are cheaper here than in the EU.
By Smokey Go To PostI don’t think the 70”+ QD OLEDs are supposed to hit for a few years . Can’t go back to 65”.70 is bare minimum.
The goat setting the record straight once more.
Classic Samsung EOTF bullshit, guess we'll have to wait for the Sony A95K to get a better picture (quite literally) of QD-OLED in the TV space.
Installed a soundbar mount and a streaming accessory mount (which will hold the 1-Connect box for the KS8000) to the TV in the office/game room. We have the TV on a wall mount already, so it was kind of annoying to have to take it off, put the new mounts between it and the wall mount and reattach it. Still, got it done and it seems to be steady and working.
