By Mariosalic Go To PostI'm opening a college fund for my kids then remember that college is free and buy the 88"😂😂✊🏻
🙏
I'm getting really tempted.
55" / 65" B7
Must stay strooonk!
Having said that: I'm really impressed by the sturdiness of my old ass Samsung LE46B650 TV. Closing in on his 9th year now, I have no glaring issues with clouding, banding or any other problems. Works like on its first day. Never would have imagined. A good investment for 1000 yuros back in 2009.

Got me one of them OLEDS. Nice upgrade from my old GT30 plasma which was still awesome but had a major board failure and wasn't worth repairing.

How is TCL still reaping souls on the budget TV department with all their issues? Did Vizio not want to bother retaking that market?

My friend got this year and last year's TCL models. They're good for that price.
I think Vizio was/is trying to shift up market a bit.

Haven't checked this thread in a while, is the LG B7 still the best bet in that ~$1500 price range? Are we gonna see some discounts on BF?
It surprises me there are still so many 2017 oled models floating around from LG. At my shop we sell out last years model as soon as the new lineup arrives.
The C8 55 inch was on a pretty sweet price here by the way last week, at 1999 euros.

My place can barely handle a 55'. And that's not counting the new stand I'd need as my old stand maxes at 32'.
By Smokey Go To PostHow far are yalls searing distancesI think a hair over six feet for me.
Oh damn. The new spot I'm moving to in a few weeks is 18 ft from the wall to where the TV will be mounted. Can obviously move furniture around/closer tho.

Uh it’s like, 4 feet
By Smokey Go To PostHow far are yalls seating distancesI think maybe 6-7 feet max? Small apartment here I'd have to remeasure it.
4 feet?! Sheesh.
Pretty sure I'm at least 6 ft, probably closer to 8? Which means I should upgrade to a 65" :P

If you want to show of your 4K TV BBC are broadcasting the new David Attenborough nature documentary Dynasties on iplayer in 4k HDR for free till December 11th. Only available in the UK but I am sure people in other countries can work their way around that using VPN etc.
Ooh, this is nifty: https://emotiva.com/collections/personal-audio/products/btr-1
It is a receiver that lets any of your bluetooth devices send audio to your sound system. Supports RCA, coax, and optical outputs. Bluetooth 4.0 and AptX 3.0 compliant and uses the Apt-X audio CODEC.

By Lunatic Go To PostDon't those sell on Amazon for like $25?Not sure. It may depend on the outputs and codecs supported, as well as the range devices can reach it from. Emotiva is generally a brand that has low prices for the quality and options on the gear they offer.
More interesting to me is this transmitter I just found: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Certified/dp/B07BQYYDNJ?th=1
It reaches up to 150 feet, can support two headphones at once, supports hd and low latency codecs, and you can even pair a couple of them to use as a receiver/transmitter pair to extend the range even further (not completely sure how this works).
I remember I bought one for my aunt that she uses with her Sony 1000XM2's last Christmas and she seems happy. Think it costed $30.

Welcome to that 80"+ life 🤣
Motion smoothing is fucking disgusting, some of my family/friends have it on their TVs and don’t notice and I don’t understand how.

It's 15k here. When I think about it doesn't seem awful. (relatively speaking). The 77" OLEDs were around 10k last year. I think it's priced will considering it's size and it's 8k.

By Omega Go To Postare soundbars worth it?If you don't have the money or space for a nice stereo or surround system, absolutely. Way better than TV speakers, assuming you get a decent one.

Samsung and LG have such a monopoly on the market that they charge crazy prices here. Insane that it is 7 grand more expensive in their home country.
Thwy really are the only two options, I don’t think any of the Japanese brands sell TVs here.
America is just cheap when it comes to TV’s. Earlier on this page someone mentioned an LG C8 65inch for 1900. That’s at least 3500 in Europe. With a good deal you might find it at 3000 but that’s about the best it would get.
Oh and a big NO to soundbars from me. Once you’ve heard the difference with actual speakers I also can’t really imagine going for a Soundbar.

I feel like only people who really don't care about sound would compromise because of space or looks. Because even in the lower price ranges speakers will outperform soundbars that cost you the same.
At work I really 'saved' a lot of people from buying a Sonos Beam by demo'ing a pair of active speakers in combination with a streaming device. Costs a bit less than the Beam and sounds so much better. Especially for people who are just looking to upgrade their TV sound and aren't interested in all the multi room possibilities it's a perfect alternative. In my personal experience people usually go for a soundbar because they just don't know any better and it's something you come across everywhere these days. It's the all in one home cinema package (way too popular in the 90's and ealy zeroes) from this day and age.
And yes, if a person really thinks speakers are ugly or placement is going to be a disaster I will end up selling a soundbar. But then I at least demo them the alternatives for Sonos. Because the latter is the only brand people really seem to know (their marketing is everywhere). But brands like Heos and Bluesound surpassed them in sound by miles these days. Or if someone is not interested in app control and multi room functions there are also soundbar alternatives from actual speaker brands that sound much better.
As long as I can tell myself I've showed people the alternatives to truly great sound I can sleep fine at night. And it feels good being able to do it without getting people to spend more money.
