By JesalR Go To PostQD OLEDS sounds like they’re a few years off consumer pricing. Some guesses that the panels may be $8K alone, so that may be worth a miss.
The Sony does though, and that’s from the same panels right? Assuming Samsung don’t give a shit to add it to their gaming monitors, not sure many monitors have DV at all
Sony is doing their own QD-OLED thing iirc
Everyone’s reporting that they’re using Samsung’s panels. I don’t know that Sony make any of their own panels, they definitely get their WOLEDs from LG
By Laboured Go To PostJust remember that Zabo has gone completely off the rails on QD OLED tech and is not to be trusted.LCD's reign of grey terror must come to an end. Samsung, LG, Sony, I don't care, as long as I never have to buy another backlit LCD display.
Having said that, Samsung are bullshit masters, so I wouldn't be surprised if QD-OLED's first iteration ends up being one best skipped, and not just for the undoubtedly exorbitant prices. In Vincent Teoh we trust.
Still, hard not to get excited when everything points to what I've always considered my dream monitor. OLED, HDR, VRR, 175hz, ultrawide. 38" with a higher resolution would've been even better, but you've got to have a future upgrade to look forward to.
I still feel pretty set with CX 55 tbh. I did not want to go smaller or bigger for my general use TV/Monitor, and the features it has are ideal for me.
I may ditch the Samsung 75 inch I have in the living room in couple years tho.

I might be interested in a 65 inch oled this year. But definitely not earlier than Black Friday and till these new TVs have been tested somewhat. And I have to able to sell the 55 CX for a good price.
It depends a bit on budget mostly. If I get a nice bonus at the end of the year I know where it’s going to.
By JesalR Go To PostThis year more than any, I’d say if you can hold out it would be worth it. The C2 series should be getting a better panel that’ll go brighter than the current crop of LG OLEDs, G1 excepting.
So if I go G1 I'm not going to miss out on much?
Cause most oled stuff is pretty good about not getting noticable burn ins, and the people who buy oled phones probably change them out after a few years anyway. But yeah burn ins do happen, on laptops too.
It's interesting that phones don't suffer from it because I imagine these days the usage rate of a handheld OLED device would be higher than a TVs. Ditto for work laptops that come with OLED screens.
And phones + laptops tend to have way more static content. I’d say the difference is likely that most phones and laptops aren’t displaying HDR content at super high brightnesses, which is typically where burn in is coming from
I would always go with the Arc if you’re looking for a livingroom experience. Sure the Beam still sounds better than your tv speakers but in the end it’s just a really small soundbar not coming close to what the Arc can do. Whether you’re in it for atmos or not. But I’d also always suggest the subwoofer. Sonos soundbars sound really flat without it, the Arc too. It’s night and day with or without subwoofer.
Does anyone know if you need an amp if you're using Beolab18 speakers? It looks like they pick up signal from the TV with some kind of usb receiver device.
Lol
I know there are speakers probably better quality for the price but they are BEAUTIFUL man. I'm sleeping on it (considering Klipsch set up as an alternative) but I personally thought the sound was amazing, it was so clean. I don't need huge amounts of bass or volume I just want clarity of sound which I think they deliver.... and they're bbbbeeeaaauuutiful.
Just wanna make sure it's not a hassle to hook up (probably a G1)

They are definitely active speakers, there’s an amp built in. Other than that I’d advice to drop by one of their stores or an official dealer to describe your specific use case and what you expect. B&O is always different from other audio brands with their own connections and cables so I don’t know too much about them. They do look beautiful by the way.
Why don't modern smart tvs have stable Web browsers?
All that tech and shit Web surfing experience circa handheld gaming devices from 2004.

In my 6,5 years in retail I don't think I've ever had a customer asking me to point out the tv with the best web browser experience. It's really not a priority for brands since basically no one is looking for that in their new tv.
I would guess cause most really dont care for a browser on their tv. At least I don't. Only thing I could see it being slightly useful for is football streams on shady websites, but even then, it's very easy to just cast it or use some iptv of much better quality.
By JesalR Go To PostWas looking up the Harmony Elite remote, saw they’ve jumped to like $500 new. Fuck sake Logitechwait until you find out they discontinued that product line
By diehard Go To Postwait until you find out they discontinued that product lineThat’s why I was “Fucks Saking” Logitech. Absolute shit apps for Harmony, but they’re still the best remotes around. I already have the Elite, just wanted to see if it was worth buying a backup. Apparently not
By reilo Go To PostI hope my C9 will survive a cross-country move.
what'd you put it in? original box?
my moving company offered a service where they'd built a custom box for the TV. ended up going with that.
Yea original box and not too confident in my packing skills as much as I tried to be due diligent. Plus who knows how they handle shit once it leaves your apartment.
I think the moving company we went with offered packing the TV but it was quite expensive.
Your company paid for your move, right? I am paying all out of pocket so...

It was definitely expensive. something like $400 , but they literally built a custom box for the tv out of wood and other materials iirc. The tv was 3k+, so i didn't really have a problem paying that to ensure it arrived in one piece, and over such a long distance.
I went and got a box from home depot beforehand, and was not confident at all.
In your case just grab some insurance on it, and cross your fingers. The TV and the computer monitors had me on edge, but everything arrived with no issues.
That's one way to look at it.
If it wasn't nearly 80'', I probably wouldn't of done it, but it gave me some extra piece of mind.

I couldn’t even imagine trying to move cross country with that TV. I moved 5 miles and I was nervous as shit with my CX. I remember telling my brother I don’t give a shit about anything else just make sure nothing happens to the TV.

It was definitely the thing I was most worried about even after having the custom box built
Reilo has to go even further but he should be aight
Was really considering Sony but after I concluded (probably wrong) that while the screen maybe marginally better your really paying extra for that built in sound. Which might I add is incredible for a tv but I have something seperate in mind so thought why not save a few pennies on tv. Can't wait man, will post pics when all complete
