Look it up on tvtropes if you need to.
55/65 just isn't at all good enough for our living room experience. Anyone else who came to the conclusion found a good size to go with for an upgrade?

77” is just right. Coming from a 65” it’s a very noticeable difference, especially with movies.
Your eyes do adjust tho

For something with actual numbers, you can use this as a general guide for your minimum size: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

You know 77" is not right my dude.

lol
65" c1 is 35% off. Sweating. But I will survive with the 55" until I move next year. At least that is what I keep telling myself.
My folks need a new TV for the back of the house. Tried recommending something budget, since it's not the main TV in their house, but my dad keeps suggesting ones that are dangerously close to Oled in price. Maybe I can sell him my C9 👀
Might be time to upgrade

I aspire to have fuck you I'm rich money like Smokey. Just bought a Porsche and now wants to upgrade his TV
Now, the real reason I came into the thread. Anyone having this issue with their CX where it just auto turns off? Instead of displaying the art backgrounds when no input is active, my TV will just shut off if my Apple TV or PS5 isn't turned on and on the correct input.

My Samsung keeps turning itself on. Thought I had a ghost or an intruder. Turns out that it turns on automatically at 7:30pm.

Oh well, it’s not that big of a deal. At least it doesn’t turn off while I’m watching/playing something.

This hurts Rob
LG needed to step the fuk up with Samsung coming into the OLED space, and I think Sony is supposed to be doing their own thing too
The chances of Samsung coming into the OLED space and crushing it on the first attempt are ... not very good.
Samsung make a lot of very good OLEDs at phone and tablet sizes, whether or not they can scale up is a much bigger question
By Patriotism Go To PostTV size queens, incredible.😂
Sadly Samsung still isn’t getting on board with Dolby Vision in 2022. Maybe next year.what the fuck
Samsung says it’s planning extensive support for NFTs beginning with its 2022 TV lineup.what the fucking fuck fuck
I think I’m definitely going to get the 42” C2 for use as my PC monitor, been saying that for a while now.
I’m also interested in the 77 G2. I like the brighter panel and while my 77 CX is fine, I really like the way the G series is flush against the wall when mounted.
That 97” OLED is dumb. It needs to be 8k at that size imo.

my dad really wants a soundbar despite my hate for them i will buy him one for his birthday. what's the one to buy? budget would be 500 to 1000 Bidens.
he only watches tv if that makes a difference.

If he only watches TV, then something on the cheaper end makes sense. Sonos Beam is easy to use, LG and Samsung make some decent ones too.

Sonos Beam looks a decent thanks.
He had a bose 5.1 that doesn't work anymore and has been mentioning buying a soundbar for ages.

Denon Home 550
By Linius Go To PostDenon Home 550thank you. looks great.
By JesalR Go To PostI’d definitely take Linus’ advice over mine herei'll go to his store and test them out then order online.
It’s a matter of taste really. Both are good at being a small soundbar that controls easy trough an app. The Denon is a bit bass heavier though and hits a bit better with movies and such imo. App wise Sonos takes the price. The HEOS app is good, especially if you know where it came from. But Sonos really shines at that aspect. More intuitive, cleaner look and easier to learn.
Neither is a bad choice really with this usecase in mind.

So it'd be completely stupid to buy a 2021 OLED before the new models ship, right?
My current old ass TV just broke.

This year more than any, I’d say if you can hold out it would be worth it. The C2 series should be getting a better panel that’ll go brighter than the current crop of LG OLEDs, G1 excepting.

I mean honestly not really. If you need one right now you get a great tv but if you can easily wait then sure.
Prices on the 2021 model are pretty low at the moment to get rid of stock (at least here they are)
This years OLEDs look fantastic. QD OLED being available too is pretty great, although it’ll be expensive. Wondering what that 42” LG OLED is gonna come in at .
Also that was the quickest "this video is sponsored by x" in the world lmao
Linus ran through that like those radio commercials with the fast speaker that reads out the T&Cs at the end.

Thanks for the sound advice. I'm gonna sit till I hear the prices of these new OLEDS + QD OLEDS.

QD OLEDS sounds like they’re a few years off consumer pricing. Some guesses that the panels may be $8K alone, so that may be worth a miss.
By reilo Go To PostThey don't even support DolbyVisionThe Sony does though, and that’s from the same panels right? Assuming Samsung don’t give a shit to add it to their gaming monitors, not sure many monitors have DV at all
