By HonestVapes Go To PostOnly realised there was a protective film on the back of my CX today. Is there one on the screen too? I can’t see or feel it, but the one on the back has got me paranoid now.there was one yeah.
By Blue Go To PostI peeled the one on the back carefully. Read that you should peel it off due to heat issues that can develop on the TV if left on. Don’t know if that’s true but my paranoia drove me to do it anyway.Just removed mine it was annoying me since there wasn't a tab like the one on the front lol.
By reilo Go To PostPro-tip: Disney+ HDR isn't good – fake, some might even call it. Try finding some proper UHD + HDR if you can.Guess I need watch more shows or movies only thing I've seen on my CX is WandaVision.
Also in general good god the CX has been a massive jump in quality for like every game I've played on it. Doesn't matter if it's SDR on switch or HDR on my PS5. Everything just pops and nothing looks flat and sterile anymore like they did all the LCDs I'm used to playing on.
Not really CX related, but i don't get having such an oddly shaped theater in your house with such a small screen.

Play a HDR game m8
Finding the auto switch on the Sonos Arc can be a bit aggressive at times, if I've got music on, switches to TV sound any time I come out of pause on a game
So far so dope.
Testing it out with BR2049.
anyone got a good calibration guide?
Oh, and these speakers on the cx aren't half bad. Still getting a sounbdbar, but the wait will be far more bearable.

Just put it on "movie" mode and make sure the color temp is "warm". It should then be calibrated really well for a pitch black room.
By Daz Go To PostDo I have to that for games as well? Each picture mode, for each input, needs to be set separately. That includes the inbuilt apps too
Game mode is, like most of the default modes, shifted too blue.
I think HDTVTest has some baseline configs for game mode with either a PS or Xbox that's probably worth following
By Daz Go To PostDo I have to that for games as well?I assume you can see all the color values and brightness and contrast levels and other things that "Movie" mode uses once you activate it. Write those settings down and modify your "Game" mode settings to match. You could probably turn off some of the post-processing settings, if there are any, for "Game" mode, too.
I should probably stream something but I'm having too much fun enjoying video games on my CX. Beat the last Spidey remastered dlc and jumped into Miles Morales. God damn everything just looks sooo good. Performance RT mode is nuts.
For. Me coming from a 26" lcd for years going to a 65" 4k OLED has been transformative. Everything looks better. My dad who's a bit of a ludite was mad impressed.

I told him I bought it at Costco and he still think it’s an insane price. Clearly I have to show him the OLED difference.
Fellow C9 owners, where have you landed in regards to the black level setting in combination with PS5's corresponding setting?
As I see it, I have three options.
1) Low on the C9 / limited on the PS5; you don't get the full RGB output range in games, but blu-ray playback works as intended
2) High on the C9 / full (or auto) on the PS5; you get the full RGB output in games, not ideal for blu-ray playback
3) Auto on the C9 / auto on the PS5 (via PC mode); output range gets adjusted automatically, however you lose real cinema (5:5 pulldown)
I guess I'll go with high / full and change it to limited / low on the rare occasional when I'm watching a blu-ray.

I remember lamenting quite a bit about the size and distance for my new place - going back and forth about choosing between 55 and 65.
To the posters who urged me to get a 65 - I thank you.
I underestimated the size of my new living room - but it is quite literally perfect.

This video is a review of some random ear buds, but I like the part of the video this embed starts at for being a super quick and somewhat clear (to me) explainer of what frequency response means/does:

55 cx lad here.
i urge everyone to watch these videos on their oled, if they haven't already. it looks phenomenal.

By bud Go To Posthave none of you lads tried gemini man on uhd yet? 4k/60fps.
https://ultrahd.highdefdigest.com/78540/geminiman4kultrahdbluray.html
the only other film in hfr is billy lynn's long halftime walk (also by ang lee).
none of the hobbit movies are in hfr because uhd doesn't support 48fps, apparently.
(the ang lee movies are available at 60fps)

what settings do you lads use?
i used vincent's settings except i went with cinema over film maker; the latter seemed too dark to me.

Cinema preset is fine as a starting point.
By bud Go To Postwhat settings do you lads use?It might be darker because it is expecting to be used in a room with basically zero other light sources than the screen itself.

Wew, barely made it I see
By bud Go To Post42 to 55 is a BIG jump.Bud, I went from 6 years of 26" lcd to 65" 4k OLED.
please understand.
I am shook, Bud, shook.

This must be a phenomenal experience 😂
Also I haven’t tried Gemini man because it looked bad, but if the viewing expertise cool at 4K 60, I’ll give it a look.
Do the higher FPS create a more “movie set” like viewing experience?
By Freewheelin Go To PostWas your 26" even 1080p?It was.
But not discernable from such a small screen.
So the jump to 4k at triple the screen real estate was a quantum leap.
Had movie night with my sisters on Sunday, we watched Tron Legacy. With the denon sound set up. It was a freaking blast.
By Daz Go To PostIt was.Make that more than quadruple screen estate. Four 26” screens in a 2x2 array would make a 52”. Too lazy to do the actual math but it’s probably like around 6 times.

By sy Go To PostImagine spending over a thousand dollars on marketing tricks like 'OLED' when you get the perfect tv for $400
By Daz Go To PostAre Sony still cheapening out on HDMI 2.1?
Yes. 2 HDMI 2.1 ports on your $4,000 65'' TV, one which is an eARC port.
No VRR either (at launch).
