85 inch is already incredibly large, can't imagine even considering something in the range of 99 inch and above. But exciting news for those of us living large I guess haha.

IDK if it's because my 77'' is mounted on the wall and it's a perception thing...but I feel I could easily go bigger.
super curious to see the prices on the 88'' micro-led
It all depends on the viewing distance in the end. In our store we have an 85 inch on a wall with a couch maybe 4 meters away. But it's in a pretty big space and that looks alright to me. Despite it being a massive TV. I can totally imagine that if you have a huge livingroom and are seated let's say 6/7 meters away from the TV that those 99 inch and above sizes would do a fine job. It's gonna cost a pretty dollar though.
My worry is that with larger TVs it becomes more cost prohibitive to own them:
Pay for mounting / struggles getting them on their base / easier to break
Moving the TV if you are switching places becomes tougher and potentially more expensive too

Unpacking a 55 inch oled already feels tense with these fragile panels. Not looking forward to moving at some point haha. At least I’m one of those people that puts the boxes in storage for safe transport. Same with my speakers.
According to the working conditions act we have to show up with two persons when it’s 55 inch or above. Gladly so.
It only took them a month, but my Denon receiver is finally fixed.
Gonna pick it up later in the week, I'm curious to find out what exactly died. Probably the transformer.

Yeah that shit happens sadly. A few years ago I had an unlucky customer that had his 4400 serviced three times in the span of 2 years.

Def gonna ask them how much repair would come to with no warranty to count on.
By RATHasReturned Go To PostUnboxing the 77" OLED was a 2-person job.
2 minimum and i was sweating the whole time. Why are they so thin?

I could go quite a bit bigger as well. 77" still feels small when you were used to a projector. At least for the media room. The huge black void on the wall is a bit too much for the living room with no way to hide it.
By jjasper Go To PostSony finally putting hdmi 2.1 in their oleds. Hopefully they don’t fuck it upOnly 2 x 2.1 ports. That's wild to me. They want to make you feel better by making both eARC..
For me, I'm still waiting for news on the 2021 line of Receivers and what kind of ports they have.

anyway i need a new TV since my c7 now has the damn disney junior logo burned in on red tints so i might get one of the sony ones it unless there is a meaningful update with the lg or someone actually makes a good LCD this year.
May be worth looking out for the 1 series from LG, just on the chance they have an event better BFI/Motion solution this year
By RATHasReturned Go To PostOnly 2 x 2.1 ports. That's wild to me. They want to make you feel better by making both eARC..Is there another non-2.1 port that is eARC? Because if not that makes it a pain in the ass for those that have both PS5 and XsX (and a sound system plugged to eARC).

Sony making sure PS5 players don’t venture into adding an Xbox just for fun...

Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. LG gives you 4 x 2.1 HDMI ports.

By Smokey Go To Postthey really need to start including 5 HDMI ports taking eARC into account.
Yup.

Y’all really need to start buying receivers and stop using TV inputs
😘
Soundbar owners are the console plebs of the home theater world. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, if that's what you believe.
By Zabojnik Go To PostSoundbar owners are the console plebs of the home theater world. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, if you believe that. Many soundbars have HDMI inputs as well innit.
The problem is that usually you want to use the latest standard on your TV, and your soundbar or receiver don't necessarily support it right away. In this case HDMI 2.1. That’s where eARC comes in clutch, that’s its whole value and point.
