what you waiting for reilo
By reilo Go To PostI just bought a new camera and I need to buy a new MBP.are you selling your old one?
By s y 2.0 Go To Postare you selling your old one?Screen is fucked so no. Plus it's 5 years old now and it's lagging behind the times.
I finally saw all 2018 models on showroom floor while picking up Black Panther at Best Buy.
The C8 stand looks awful. I don't know what they were thinking , although if you were mounting it, obviously it wouldn't be an issue. But still.
Watched some stuff on Sony 85" 900f screen. Humongous screen. I'm not sure it has the appropriate number of zones either for such a large panel, but something has to give at that size and price.
Sony A8F OLED aesthetically looked the best to me in person. Minimalist look. A not terrible stand. It's all screen and you don't even know it's a Sony outside of the tiny name marking in the lower left hand side of the screen.
And then the Q9FN...it looked really good. Nice and bright. But....Samsung. and no Dooby Vision. But when a black scene came on it was...black..got me curious about it I can't lie
Heard that Sony Atmos bar again too...and I need it

Line level matching is important to prevent clipping while still enabling you to maximize volume with your gear.
Most consumer gear (aka, unbalanced) is at -10 dB. Pro-level gear (balanced) is normally at +4 dB. It can vary, but those are the normal line levels.
The controls to make the necessary adjustments are typically called trim and/or gain. Gain is usually for larger changes and trim for smaller.

I have a Dynex 32 inch "HDTV" I got back in 2008 Black Friday after I got my PS3 that year. Still have it but I know I need a 4K Smart TV for when I get a PS4 Pro. My gotos are going to be Sony/Samsung, I just don't know the size I want....Considering it's just me in a studio (eventually will get a 1 bedroom), 32 inches was the standard for a one room TV in the past. Should I start off by upping that to 37'? 42?
Note: I'm just trying to figure out size before I get to the nitty gritty of what it is used for GAMING GAMING GAMING STREAMING LEGGO

I think 45" is like the minimum offered for quality 4k. Also, what's your budget? If you want to stay in the Dynex range but want much better quality, TCL is the brand you want to look at.

If you want to stay in the Dynex range but want much better quality, TCL is the brand you want to look at.It used to be you would pay $9-10 per inch for HDTVs, not so much now I guess. I'm looking to stay below $500 since the PS4 Pro will run me 400 bucks. Probably will have to buy a new TV Stand also in a few months. The plan for me is to target a TV by June, and buy it around September (FOOTBALL) or October-November (Black Friday) or whenever there's a deal. I'll list my must have features for the TV in a bit.
EDIT: I love how hardly anyone makes 4K HDTVs below 50 inches. Like throw me a bone, gimme 49 inches LOL.
You might want to check out this review: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/s-series-4k-2017-s405

Do not get a trash 4k TV, and there's a lot out there, especially in the budget area.
I think the best starting point are TCL offerings. I think the 55" is $650 or so. If size is a problem, I think Sony makes a 49" TV.
Can't remember where I read it, but they have data that shows 65" TVs out sell TVs in the 30" range, which is why they are trending up in size.

^ Last year's 4k budget TCL is $380 for the 55", which is what I linked. There are TVs from other manufacturers that are brighter or have better viewing angles, but worse input lag and cost $100-300 more.
But, yeah, the next step up is also a TCL and is $650: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079N9HDNQ
Yeah TCL I need to read up on because the Sony/Samsung offerings are way outside my current range. I like true blacks and TVs that have good quality in darker environments, so I was looking at the Sony X900E 49 inch model... and it's $800 bucks. I see I need to greatly raise my budget if I want a nice 4K HDTV.
EDIT: The dark/brightness quality on the S405 is going to be a sticking point for me. The TCL P607 or the TCL R617 (about $650) which will probably go down in cost by September. Smokey is right; I went cheap on my last HDTV, no reason to go cheap now. Gotta up my budget like Kibner posted and pay that cash.

That rtings site has the best reviews of TVs that I've seen anywhere. I need to expand my sources a bit so I can read up on sets they don't review, but, yeah, they are the best.
Hrrmmm... an "affordable" sample rate converter: Behringer Ultramatch Pro SRC2496. It can be useful when you are trying to mix multiple different digital sources together because "affordable" digital mixers don't like sources with different sample rates.
"affordable" sample rate converter is $200 as opposed to $1,200+ and "affordable" digital mixer is $600 as opposed to like $1,500+

Sony does things better in areas you'd expect, but the C8 gets brighter. Also that size comparison. He's using a 77'' C8 vs a 55'' A8. The difference is massive when side by side like that o_o. That's my next upgrade size as soon as they come down further in price, which they are. The MSRP for the 77'' C8 is $5,000 less than the 2017 model.
By Mariosalic Go To Posti'm rocking the 75" now but i'm already eying 82"s lol.I was actually thinking this weekend that I may go up to a 65" with the next TV. My current stand says it only supports 55", so I will have to check to make sure the stands would fit.
we have a large family room so anything under 65" just doesn't cut it. i prefer to go as big as possible. can't wait for 100"+.
it's crazy how fast you get used to the big tvs. i remember my wife (then GF) wanting to murder me when i brought home a 55". now she would complain that the screen is way too small.
Due to space and layout requirements, people on the couch are about 7.5' from the TV. Although, the rtings calculator says 55" is sufficient for that distance. Something to think about, at least.

Only way you're gonna get the size you're looking for and retain quality/pricing.
Idk when you had yours but the modern ones are pretty good.
yeah i know but i wasn't talking about today. it's more like looking forward to that time when we get it.
projector are a hassle, ugly and harder to cover up. they are also loud and i can't stand the noise.

Short throw projectors can actually look pretty slick. Pricier tho.
Short throw projectors are indeed very tempting. Gonna be a while before 4K ones are available at decent prices tho.
Smokey my friend copped the LG OLED65W8
Imma sell everything and get that for my gaming room because holy smokes.

First time seeing OLED in person? The actual screens are the same through the OLED line, it's the aestehtics that get more premium as you go up, with the W(allpaper) one being dope af.
Nah i have a 2017 oled in the gaming room.
I was just blown away with the look of that thing. Looks like a painting. So beautiful.

Samsung looks to be getting back into the OLED business with QD-OLED (quantum dot)

Hyped. The more competition in the OLED space, the better.
So consumers aren't that dumb after all.

Korean ETNews now reports that Samsung is working with Canon and Kateeva to develop production equipment where OLED displays can be evaporated on Canon machines and QD filters can be applied by using Kateeva’s ink-jet printing method. They are reportedly aiming for 8th generation production equipment, which is similar to LG.Display’s current production line for OLED TVs, allowing them to mass-produce primarily 55 to 65-inch displays.
The report says that Samsung will use blue OLED with quantum dots in the red and green color filters. This method will allow Samsung to steer clear of LG.Display's patents and create OLED TVs with a higher light output and wider color gamut than current TVs on the market. Patents reveal that Apple is also exploring combining OLED with quantum dots.
Hyped. The more competition in the OLED space, the better.
There is a lot at stake for Samsung who has seen its share in the premium TV segment plummet from more than 50% to less than 10%, according to market data. In the last two quarters, sales of OLED TVs have surpassed those of “QLED” LCD TVs, and OLED is expected to enter the mid-range territory in the coming years.
So consumers aren't that dumb after all.
I'm curious how the AF8 is the best living room TV. It's dimmer than the LG OLEDs and obviously not a as bright as the Q9FN.
A good "gaming TV" is a paradox when they have cave-age technology for handling remotely variable framerates and absolutely shocking effect on input lag.

The QFN has Variable Refresh Rate technology available now, and the lowest input lag on the market.
