lol OLED's one big drawback is that it handles panning poorly especially at lower framerates. So if that annoys you, don't go OLED until they can resolve that.

By sy Go To PostIts really just souls two. Slow movement plus really dark contrasty image = shitty panning motion.

Are you able to take like a picture of it with your phone?

Officially out of HDMI ports because the Sonos Arc eats an input. PS5, Xbox, Switch, Shield and Arc do not into 4 go.
Going to need an HDMI switch to feed the Shield and Switch in to, anybody have any experience with any?
There are annoyingly no HDMI2.1 switchers on the market

Maybe worth searching around. I got one which just did not want to work at first (don't think it liked my Sony TV at the time) but now works fine on my CX.
It was this, but it's not necessarily a recommendation by any means: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XN5C7XR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

return the tv. it sounds trash.
save up for a proper oled. vizio makes good ones too.
By sy Go To PostSounds like tvs are trash
do you really still want to game on a trash tv when in a few years these games will look ridiculously good?
please return it. you’re really not missing out on anything right now if you do. trust.
save up and buy a better tv in a year.
it’s a win-win situation.
thank you.
elite speak will not work on me thank you
Made this video last night but it's directly from the ps5 so but, it's 1080p plus compressed to shit so everything looks bad but this was my night

Plasmas have good picture breh and they are never under 40” or something. The tech was too expensive for our world, rip.

LG CX 55 is getting bought this month.
My 2080Ti will be limited to 1440p @120hz and 4K @ 60hz, yeah?

So I went to best buy and can confirm that "motion resolution" is just shit on 60hz LCD panels and my eyes for some reason are particularly sensitive.
I'm guessing I never noticed it on my 32" 1080p display because I didn't wear glasses and am almost blind without them.
Makes me feel better.

Default settings in demons souls display options plus changing gamma on my Tv to 1.8

By Laboured Go To PostMotion resolution is less than spectacular on anything other than CRTs.Why did we accept this inferior tech

The best motion resolution for LCD's is still TN panels but then you are giving up viewing angles beyond straight on and also color accuracy and color depth.
Still garbage, though.
e: oh! how can i forget that input latency wasn't much of a thing at all with crt's, either. and neither was native resolution. and they also supported high refresh rates. and looked better at lower resolutions due to a "softer" image based on how they project light

You also had to knock the wall out to wall mount a CRT. Swings and roundabouts

Yup, great tech but with fairly major practicality and manufacturing draw backs.
By Nonja Go To PostNice that we can move TV's now without needing 4 people and a forklift tho

By sy Go To Postso what is the best TV option for the absolute best motion clarity/resolution?Probably the CX that several people in this thread have.
e: you can check this page for what things look like in motion: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/motion/motion-blur-and-response-time
click the "image" button under "motion blur picture" to see what things look like in motion

That still looks bad, no?
By sy Go To PostfukYeah. Still, motion resolution is improved with higher refresh and frame rates: https://www.testufo.com
That still looks bad, no?
Which is another reason you should want to run things in performance mode. This article may have more information on things like that: https://blurbusters.com/4k-120hz-with-bonus-240hz-and-480hz-modes/
Also, tech like LCD and OLED use a technology called sample and hold. This causes the perceptible resolution of images in motion to be lower than the native resolution you're supposed to be seeing. CRT and Plasma use impulse which is significantly better.
The key difference between sample-and-hold and impulse display is the duration that a single video frame remains onscreen. That span is significantly shorter on impulse-driven displays than sample-and-hold ones, where the image remains static for the full screen refresh cycle. In the meantime, your eyes track motion in the image at a speed faster than the screen’s refresh rate, which is what contributes to motion blur on LCD—and OLED—displays.
Many LCD TVs—and OLED models like Samsung’s KN55S9C—use various techniques including motion interpolation and black frame insertion to reduce the effects of motion blur. With motion interpolation, intermediary video frames are created and inserted between existing ones to reduce the amount of time a single frame remains onscreen on sets with a 120 Hz refresh rate. And as the name "black frame insertion" suggests, black frames are generated and inserted between the existing ones in the video source to achieve plasma/CRT-like display quality.
Both techniques are not without their downsides, however. Motion interpolation often generates a Soap Opera Effect that makes motion in film-based content look unnatural. And black frame insertion can significantly reduce a TV’s brightness, though that’s not as much of a problem with OLED displays, which are capable of high light output.
By Kibner Go To PostVery true.
e: I had a 32" widescreen crt that must have weighed like 200 pounds
Same. An old Bush model. It was handed down to me and my brothers as kids when my parents got a larger rear projection TV that was absolute shite in comparison.
If I remember correctly, the Bush CRT needed to be repaired a couple times but it lasted a good ten years or so. Think it took 3 to carry it upstairs to the bedroom too.

No my cat has. Little fucker.
The slow-mo guys did a video on TVs, helps to visualise why the different technologies have different results with motion smoothness
By Laboured Go To PostNo my cat has. Little fucker. It's really too bad that it can be disabled fully. It can be hidden temporarily, but comes back when you start moving it again or turn the TV off an on. WebOS has it's frustrating quirks.
need some of you to play demon's souls but from what I see on other sites, people are also having issues with this game's lighting.

If you don’t want the cursor I’d recommend a universal remote.
I was almost about to go back to my Harmony if it wasn’t for the PITA to setup and I actually like the cursor.
