Me a couple of days ago to a friend: "OLED burn-in is no issue anymore for modern OLEDs."

Incredible
Although, I do wonder how smartphones handle this? I figure they'd be more prone to burn-in as they primarily serve static content UIs. We've had OLED for a couple of years now and burn-in doesn't seem to be an issue on my iPhone XS, for example.

By reilo Go To PostIncrediblemy status bar has burned in on a few oled phones ngl but it's not that noticable if you don't look for it. they have since made them not constantly the same color i think.

By DerZuhälter Go To PostYes they did. I'm not really the biggest audiophile but I'll try my best with impressions:
My wife: doesn't hear the difference between the E9 internal speakers and those Argon ones. She hates loud noises and makes me regret this purchase and sometimes, life in its entirety. Considering this I couldn't take them in for a "what's the loudest they can get" tour yet. I do live in an apartment with neighbors above & beneath me so I'll probably keep them running on rather moderate loudness level.
Presentation: love the look and the finish. With covers on they look unobtrusive and blend in quite well. The copper coloured rings give the entire look a bit of panache needed. The black matte finish is a dust and print magnet though.
Remote control is simple and tidy, only point of critique is the power led that is quite bright even when having the cover on. But that's about it.
Connectivity: connected via optical in my TV. As explained with HDMI 2.1 just released and having TV set top box, consoles and PC delivering audio I didn't want to get a receiver and add to the messy cable and HDMI 2.1 situation, but instead wanted a simple plug and play solution. One that's also cheap to be honest.
Have the TV set to use Internal Speakers + Optical.
It works like a charm so far though in PC mode I noticed the boxes go into short "standby" when there is no audio signal i.e. skipping ahead on YouTube. The boxes regain sound slightly delayed compared to the internal speakers without being out of sync though.
Bluetooth: great for playing some tunes from the phone without switching on the TV. What surprised me. AptX works with my phone better than with the TV. Noticed a slight delay between picture and sound on the TV ,but not with my phone (YouTube). Didn't go into detailed testing though. One problem I did have (with the LG TV not the Argon speakers) was that I couldn't activate Bluetooth speakers at the same time as game mode. Just not possible - works with the optical connection though.
Sound: well what am I supposed to say. It's definitely better than the TV sound which is, in all honesty a lot better than other TVs I've heard but still quite tinny. The Forte A5 have certainly a bass filled richness to them that easily fills my 20m² living room and gives the sound a feeling that it's coming from all sides instead of just the front.
Tried some classical as well as contemporary music and listened a bit into Hamilton on Disney+.
What's weird is , I'm not sure though if it's enough bass for explosions and Lil Wayne's A Milli but have a feeling that it's too much bass in stuff that is actually quite light on bass. Will need to test a bit more.
All in all I'm quite satisfied so far.
Good to hear man! They look great positioned next to the television.
For all things TV related just use the optical connection by the way. Make sure the TV speakers are turned off and audio settings are set to PCM. Then you should be fine watching any content on your tv receiving the audio trough the speakers. We’ve burned trough a crazy amount of those speakers during the promotion period. A buddy of mine who doesn’t care too much about audio got a pair as well, it was a steal at that price.
Played Gears of War 3 which fills the whole screen and now playing Gears of War 4 which has black horizontal bars. Can these bars cause burn-in on OLED’s?
Bonus Question: Why do some games cover the whole screen like Halo 1 and 2 MCC while Halo 3 and ODST have horizontal black bars?

I believe so

you can't burn in what's off (the pixels in the black bar area).
you could cause uneven wear on the pixels over a very long period of time i suppose.
By bud Go To Postanother 77 inch lad.you can see them after the audit is done.
i want to see all of your tax returns.

Disgusting.
I have a tiny 65". Really don't mind it. Honestly, if I squint hard enough, I can get a general idea of what's going on.

Hanging it is the real challenge. Pretty nerve wrecking.

By JesalR Go To PostIt's so fragile and thin that I wouldn't recommend laying it on the sideIt comes with styrofoam blocks to place underneath for that effect. Frankly I prefer that than to grab on the top side of the panel where it’s just... thin panel.
I think the whole installation experience could have been a bit better designed. It is absolutely unnerving and must get much worse as the size/weight increases. Fuck me if I ever need to move mine.

We swapped out our media unit a few months back, get that tv off was horrible. I wish you could remove the power cable

beautiful innit
does anybody else have theirs mounted, or just me?

By Zabojnik Go To PostDid you tip them?Lol no. I wore my mask and they were too.
I didn't think about this until connecting everything. My Denon 3808CI from 2007 doesn't support arc or earc support, which means I have to use the TV speakers for 4k content apps on the TV. And if I want to get 4k out of any available devices I'm going directly from the console to the HDMi ports on the TV itself.
Luckily I had a sound bar that I bought in 2014 that I can use in the meantime until I figure out what I'm going to do for a new 4k receiver.
Money is gonna keep leaving my picked this month is it?
i just recently took the plastic off my dads b9. Must have been on there for well over a year on the back, was impressed it hadnt melted.
By Daz Go To PostYo, you put that beast on a glass table.A 65" Plasma has been on it for over a decade. I think it'll be alright.
Living dangerously, are we?
By RATHasReturned Go To PostLol no. I wore my mask and they were too.Can you not go Optical from TV to Receiver?

Edit:
Optical doesn't pass the higher end audio formats, so that isn't a long term solution.
You seem like a prime candidate for shArc, RATH. At 150$ it's not exactly cheap, but it works and it's way cheaper than buying a new HDMI 2.1 receiver, of which there aren't many (any?) I'd currently recommend.

People are buying it in droves, so you might have to wait a bit to get one.

That sounds like it would work. The Zone 2 version seems to be shipping sooner. The only difference is port 2 is eArc if you have support for it? Wouldn't I just use port 1 to the TV and port 3 to my receiver?

Yes.
shArc takes eARC audio from the TV and outputs regular HDMI audio; Zone-2 does the same while also passing through eARC audio. The scenarios in which the latter could come in handy seem rather rare, but for 40$ more and for peace of mind, it might be worth it.
My Denon AVR-X1600H supports eARC, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn it's a delay-ridden implementation of it with no firmware fix in sight upon connecting the PS5 / PC, so I might end up getting one of these gizmos as well.

By RATHasReturned Go To PostThanks. I'll order the Zone 2 and see how it turns out.You might want to do some research before you bite, because apparently there are some issues with the CX.
From purple Slaent:
I got mine yesterday and have spent the past two days in absolute hell. If the CX sees two CEC it will go to a black screen and it will not go away…ever. I had to factory reset mine 4 times in trying to get this to work. I ended up emailing Thenaudio and they confirmed that the CX has this issue with a "CEC Loop".
By diehard Go To PostAm i the only one who kinda wants to upgrade their TV but just too lazy to do the whole wall mounting thing again?just pay people to do it for you

I was just checking regional pricing for varying TVs.
Everyone is getting ripped off except Amerifats and Brexitland.

By RATHasReturned Go To PostIt can be turned off. I also never liked that that particular feature because of auto-switching/detection if I turned on devices.Well, good luck, I've been reading up on it and a lot of people seem to have various issues, but it's hard to say whether it's the shArc, TV or receiver not playing nice. HDMI 2.1 has been a shitshow as a whole. Hopefully my Denon won't crap the bed, otherwise I'll probably just stick to basic stereo from the PS5 for the time being and begrudgingly upgrade the receiver when this stuff has been sorted out.
