Yeah planet earth 2 is amazingly beautiful to watch on a good tv.
I should really look into some speaker system for my c9 sooner or later, but I know so little about how to set it up to work with everything (ps5, tv itself, my pc), just seems like a mess every time I try to go looking. I would love to have surround sound again, but also not really in love with the idea of all those cables

You could copy me, Jesal and (I think) Smokey. Sonos Arc with two One SL surrounds. Very simple and easy to set up system with minimal wires.

I don't have one sls atm. Waiting to see if something comes up for black Friday.
Linius' day job is to help people setup home sound systems, so definitely take his advice if he gives any.

warranty extension always feel like scams to me anyway. would never pay for one, never needed one.

Just go to Klubben mate. As long as you don’t accidentally walk into El Giganten you should be good.
Entry level line receiver paired with some passive Argon speakers would go a long way.

Until that time that you do need one, ofc.
In this case for a ~$3,700 purchase, a warranty that covers everything, with Best Buy's being the only one that covers burn in, I was fine with it. Especially over a span of 5 years. Chances are nothing will happen, but if it does, I get that 3.5k back to put towards a new set, provided they don't have a CX in stock.
I will always buy a warranty from the place of purchase. I've done it on my PC parts with Microcenter and it's come through multiple times. Usually it's not that expensive, however in Best Buy's case, the warranty price scales with the price of the item.
Bestbuy warranties are the only ones I’ve ever bought.
I remember when me and my brother got a 360, we got the warranty with it because it was just like $50 at the time.
That Xbox failed and we went in and just got another system. Got the warranty again, that one failed and we went in to swap it out.
From that point on the Xbox never failed but any time a limited edition console came out we just went in saying the system failed and since 360s were notorious they were just like “okay go grab one”

maybe warranties work different in the us, but here it has been proven many times that extending it is almost always a terrible deal. i mean there is a reason they push them so hard on you.
normal warranty covers a faulty device usually.

How is it different over there?
Over here it works just like Espi said. They'll give you the same product or if it's not in stock, they'll credit the full amount of the item back to you.
Obviously they push them as the majority of the time your product will be fine. But when it's not, it fucking sucks and is a pain. If m TV has a problem I really don't want to be dealing with the standard customer service process and answering questions like "did you unplug the TV, and plug it back in".

My shop actually does 5 years of warranty by default if you become a member. We're the only ones that do this in our market.
in terms of what they cover for example.
like what is just normal wear and tear or what will be attributed as your fault and not the devices like water damage for example. as i said above they push them hard on you because they're almost always very profitable for the seller.
i've read a bunch of studies that say the same, is a device faulty it usually breaks within the normal "free" warranty period which is at least 2 years here. maybe you're good at gaming the system but on average it's not a good deal at all.

It's not a good deal when you don't have to use it.
If you have to use it, it's the best thing ever.
I probably won't need to use it. I made Best Buy that much richer. I'm ok with that for peace of mind.

yeah i mean obviously but over a 10 year period i could probably just buy a new device if one ever fails with the money saved from never buying them. you pay for convenience, which is fine but i'll take the odds that are in my favour by a lot.
Probably. In one room or another.
The moment anything seems off/wrong, I'm calling in the warranty though, and looking forward to a 3.5k credit

I reckon, and this only applies to you Smokey, it's weird to buy a 5-year warranty when most likely you'll buy a new TV within 2-3 years :P
I actually don't go through TVs like that. The Samsung LED before the B6 I had for awhile.
I really wanted to get off the B6 because of the dim HDR Game Mode. Also I wanted HDMI 2.1 and everything that came with it.
The good thing about having a 77" OLED is that the only size above it is the 88" 8K display, and it'll be awhile before that size+OLED gets near what I paid for the CX.

you're making me feel poor.
how many inches do you have, bud?

I have to put this over my 65
I got that 55 oled. and while i do love the tv, i wouldnt mind going up a size. big size for a big boi.

Got the 55 not even 2 months ago. The plan was to wait till black Friday , my old TV had other plans though and broke down. Forced my hand. Like my E9 though.
Alright going to visit 'Klubben' when I hopefully pick up my 3090 friday. Going to ask to speak to Randy there, so be ready with your skype connection.
That is nothing to brag about, merely eating corn does that to me these days.

By Linius Go To Post@DerZuhalter Did those Forte speakers arrive already? Curious to hear your opinion.
Yes they did. I'm not really the biggest audiophile but I'll try my best with impressions:
My wife: doesn't hear the difference between the E9 internal speakers and those Argon ones. She hates loud noises and makes me regret this purchase and sometimes, life in its entirety. Considering this I couldn't take them in for a "what's the loudest they can get" tour yet. I do live in an apartment with neighbors above & beneath me so I'll probably keep them running on rather moderate loudness level.
Presentation: love the look and the finish. With covers on they look unobtrusive and blend in quite well. The copper coloured rings give the entire look a bit of panache needed. The black matte finish is a dust and print magnet though.
Remote control is simple and tidy, only point of critique is the power led that is quite bright even when having the cover on. But that's about it.
Connectivity: connected via optical in my TV. As explained with HDMI 2.1 just released and having TV set top box, consoles and PC delivering audio I didn't want to get a receiver and add to the messy cable and HDMI 2.1 situation, but instead wanted a simple plug and play solution. One that's also cheap to be honest.
Have the TV set to use Internal Speakers + Optical.
It works like a charm so far though in PC mode I noticed the boxes go into short "standby" when there is no audio signal i.e. skipping ahead on YouTube. The boxes regain sound slightly delayed compared to the internal speakers without being out of sync though.
Bluetooth: great for playing some tunes from the phone without switching on the TV. What surprised me. AptX works with my phone better than with the TV. Noticed a slight delay between picture and sound on the TV ,but not with my phone (YouTube). Didn't go into detailed testing though. One problem I did have (with the LG TV not the Argon speakers) was that I couldn't activate Bluetooth speakers at the same time as game mode. Just not possible - works with the optical connection though.
Sound: well what am I supposed to say. It's definitely better than the TV sound which is, in all honesty a lot better than other TVs I've heard but still quite tinny. The Forte A5 have certainly a bass filled richness to them that easily fills my 20m² living room and gives the sound a feeling that it's coming from all sides instead of just the front.
Tried some classical as well as contemporary music and listened a bit into Hamilton on Disney+.
What's weird is , I'm not sure though if it's enough bass for explosions and Lil Wayne's A Milli but have a feeling that it's too much bass in stuff that is actually quite light on bass. Will need to test a bit more.
All in all I'm quite satisfied so far.

i have one too, they are free & unlimited with the internet i have and my parents hate calling mobile phones lol.
Yeah some phone companies still offer them for free in the UK and I still say no. That is simply not how I choose to live my life.
they're also always in the same place and in multiple rooms so you can grab one and don't have to go get the mobile if you left it downstairs. that's kinda nice.
i wouldn't get them now but they were already in the house.
oh yeah and grandma doesn't get it that when she calls my mobile that the great-grandkids are probably not around but when she calls the landline they are.

By reilo Go To PostIs that a landline phone?!
yeah. only two people call my wife on her old appartment's landline number she was able to take with her to our new appartment. i don't pick up that phone when it rings and she's not home. but don't tell her.
landline is free of charge and included in most isp contracts

Lol my wife tunes into sound quality differences a lot less than actual set up differences. She appreciates the surrounds. She thought ours kids were crying in their room when watching Haunting of Hill House the other day.

well then
tbh yall lucky that's the only issue---always thought 4k 120 vrr/hdmi 2.1 oled was way too much of a jump for a single year to go off without a hitch.
they nearly got there tho
