By Laboured Go To PostBought a couple of Sonos SL Ones with stands for some extra surround impact because I was drunk and also had some sundries in my Amazon basket and thought why not.
:o
Thoughts?
Do you have the sub too?
They add a lot of dept to your movie experience. Considering in a conventional speaker set-up you also have 2 rear channels they create the same effect. Within the Sonos app you can dial up the volume of them to your liking and let Sonos know how the speakers are positioned. As in, how much distance the couch is away from them. If you go down the Sonos path adding rears and a sub is the only right way to do it.
The bar and sub is good enough for me in my current setup. When I get my dedicated media room, the Sonos will probably be delegated to standard living room duties anyway.
By JesalR Go To PostMy plan is definitely to find a pair of One SLs on Black Friday
From what I've seen and heard, Sonos are generally struggling to meet demand for their products atm.
Depends on what you want. Amps and Arcs are in a sad situation currently. One's we've got plenty currently. Boy am I glad I already booked a weekend away on black friday weekend, probably gonna be a madhouse.
By Daz Go To PostDo you guys rate Amazon's cyber monday thing?I browse it. The things I want aren't often on sale during it, though. Use it mostly to pick-up some Christmas and birthday gifts.

I got lucky with the Arc at best buy, but the sub and one sls don't seem too hard to find.
Normally we ask for a down payment on any order we have to put in. But with the arc we were pretty relaxed about it since people were shopping all over the place trying to find it faster. So every order that got cancelled got sold pretty much the same day to someone else anyways. Sonos marketing always does the job.
Regarding cyber monday, never really noticed any crazy deals that weren't there on black friday. If anything I'm mostly just excited to see what Sony and Nintendo are offering in their digital marketplaces but that's about it.

Had my fingers crossed for a slash in price for MX3s
They are already being phased out mate. They’ve been 222 euros over here and I think most leftover stock is pretty much gone by now. It’s all about XM4 now.
MX3s are cool but I feel fucking stupid for not having checked that the MX4s were coming out prior to grabbing them. Ah well, they're still very nice.

Only done some initial tests but yeah this is gud and nice. Make sure your stands have power cable extenders in them e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B076SZQ4QW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Welp, I ran into a problem today that was mentioned on the other forum:
On a whim I decided to watch The Mandalorian, to get ready for S2. This is on my Apple 4k TV. Made it to about Episode 4. Enjoying it. Watching it in DV + Atmos. I leave the app and go to Youtube TV, and I run into the issue of sound going in and out every 2 seconds. Try Netflix. Same thing. Regular YT. Same thing. It doesn't matter if you switch devices, it still continues. The only way to get this to stop is to factory reset the TV. It's like the entire port gets fucked up for whatever reason. I've watched a bunch of stuff in Atmos from UHD and Netflix and never had this problem. Only Disney+, and it is repeatable.
What a PITA. Idk who's more to blame, Disney or LG, but it's ridiculous.

By JesalR Go To PostDoes it happen with D+ from the inbuilt app, because I've never had anything like that
I dont think so. Are you guys listening in Atmos though? It for sure happens on the ATV.
By Smokey Go To PostI dont think so. Are you guys listening in Atmos though? It for sure happens on the ATV.Yeah, I'm going out to a Sonos Arc too, and it has been fine. I'm on a C9 though, so could be a CX issue

But you're using the built in D+ app right?

So far very good and extremely simple to use and set up. Zero complaints and only positive impressions.
Not tried any games on them yet.
i would literally pay $100 a month for a service that offers full 4k bluray quality downloads.

Tried 300 and Thor Ragnarok so far.
300 has a very good soundscape to it.
One thing I will say is with these 4K movies I've d/led that I'm putting through Plex is I can run them just fine using the packaged 7.1/5.1 audio. However using the 7.1 TrueHD Atmos doesn't seem to work through Plex. I'm sure it will be fine through Netflex/Disney+ etc.

The sound comes through fine but the whole screen turns to a trippy rainbow. If I put it just on 7.1/5.1 everything runs fine. That said it tends to happen on my highest bitrate files so could be bandwidth related, but it's a weird way of showing a lack of bandwidth.
Very weird. Just checking Mad Max in 7.1 True HD and it's coming through perfectly. Assuming since you're one of those PC folk that your Plex server isn't resource constrained?
Yeah definitely not. It might just be bandwidth, it's just I've never seen it manifest in this way. More testing to be done.
Tell a lie, I've just checked again and I'm not getting Atmos from the inbuilt app, Just DD Plus 7.1.
Via the Shield, I get Atmos TrueHD fine though
Via the Shield, I get Atmos TrueHD fine though
After some further looking, it turns out that the TrueHD Atmos isn't supported from any internal apps over eARC. You'd need an external player
By Laboured Go To PostInteresting. Would something like Shield count? Or we talking UHD Blu Ray players?Shield seems like the go to. 2015 and 2017 support full Atmos, and 2019 supports full Atmos and Vision
Apparently the new Chromecast only does DD+ Atmos, and not TrueHD Atmos too, which is a bummer. I don't know of any other device than the Shield that has support fr it, not even the Apple TV does
how are the cx’s speakers?
i know, i know, but i can’t see myself getting a proper set anytime soon.
i ask because i was just reminded again of how awful the gt30’s speakers are.
