Longshot here, but would anyone have the stand that came with a X900e 55"? I'm going to be moving soon and I left the stand at my old place and my ex and I didn't exactly end on the best terms so I can't even try to ask.
I looked on ebay and everything is scratched to shit or doesn't even include screws.
edit - nevermind, found one for $80. kind of expensive but whatever, not trying to mount the TV especially since it's not going to be my primary TV for long either

By Daz Go To PostI should look into this - the only financing I saw was Curry's and it was absurd.Got mine from box.co.uk - they also offer a 5-year warranty and delivered promptly. Highly recommended.

Otherwise you could have found a new one trough an official Sony dealer. But mind you, TV stands are crazy expensive despite the fact that it comes with your TV in the first place. I had to order one for a Samsung a while ago and it was around 300 euros I remember. Just don't ever leave the stand if you decide to wallmount it, because if you ever wanna change it back you don't wanna spend so much money on a stand.

I can easily imagine the C9 stand costing $300. That thing is something else. My last Sony TV had a stand that was made out of two pieces and weighed nothing so I wouldn't pay more than $30 for that thing but the C9 stand is definitely overengineered.
Given the CX is a disappointment I'm not sure what to go for. I don't want to get a C9 since it's getting old and poor people have it.
I'm just gonna wait to upgrade. Probably keep my x900e for another year then when it's time to upgrade make that the bedroom TV

By Daz Go To PostFeels like everyone has a C9 but me…I still rock the KS8000 which isn't even OLED. You'll be ok. :)

Samsung D8000 here, true pleb.

That will work in most cases I assume.
300 for a stand jfc.
Although depending on what it is, I guess that makes sense? It used to be that wall mounting was the thing, but as of late (past few years), seems things have reverted back to default stand method. Its like the stand is now a part of the TVs aestehtic/presentation.

It's not much, but it's mine.
Happy with the improved cable management, though I still need to 3D print a brown cover / channel for the subwoofer wires on the far right there. Plus a couple of black covers for the devices (internet provider's IPTV box, Nvidia Shield that's currently missing) in the right compartment of the TV stand. The cheapo Ikea plants are placeholders. Please understand.
Wharfedale Diamond 10.CS center speaker on top, Denon AVR-X1600H receiver below it, network switch - Philips Hue hub - modem on the bottom shelf.
Fuck me that is beautiful zabo, wow. Have you played/watched anything thats made you really appreciate the quality of the picture/sound set up?
By Smokey Go To Post300 for a stand jfc.I never liked mounting even when it was the “thing” but my ex has a daughter and I wasn’t trying to have my TV low enough for the kid to knock it over

Might give GT Sport a try, but I don't feel like driving atm.
Watched - Blade Runner 2049 floored me, as did most of the HDR / Dolby Vision demos I saw. Looking forward to Interstellar, OLED was made for space shots.
By Dipro Go To Posti recommend the into the spiderverse.OMG that must look insane in OLED.
it looks great.
I highly recommend 2001, just finished watching it on the OLED and it looks amazing for a 52 year old film

It looks amazing AND is probably the best Spider-Man movie
Edit: really nice job on cable raceway Zabo. I hate cables
Edit: interstellar is excellent. Mad max is also phenomenal
The Witness from Love Death & Robots on Netflix should be a nice showcase. It’s Into Spiderverse cranked to 11(same art director). Very NSFW though.
I'm taking notes, many of these are on my list already, however I kinda want most of them on UHD blu-ray, so I'll probably wait for PS5.
By Zabojnik Go To PostMight give GT Sport a try, but I don't feel like driving atm.
you don't have to drive. just leave it on the main menu and it'll start playing replay clips.
That looks fun Zabo! Sitting in the dark with a good movie must be a joy from now on. And clean cable management indeed. That's always my hardest argument to make. Cable management is perfectly manageable if you put some effort into it and you'll get so much better sound as opposed to soundbars and wireless stuff.
By JesalR Go To PostGot serious setup jealousy
Proper went all Dr Umar on my TV like this motherf*cker aint black enough smh
My one advice for cable management is to never ever use sticky clips or what have you, if you can avoid it. Especially if you're tidying up a large amount of cables, like behind a TV / HT rack, where you have multiple cables running through clips at sharp angles. They will fall off over time. Inevitably. Heavier stuff like outlet splitters is the first thing that yields to gravity. If possible at all, use screws or velcro / zipties.
I've learned my lesson the hard way. Hours of work undone because of shitty glue. The back of my TV stand was a mess.

Yeah we have a few of those cheap sticky clips to run an ethernet cable around the livingroom and it's not ideal. But it's not a place I'm staying for years to come so it's fine for now. Once I'm without a roommate in my own place I'm gonna think about upgrading to surround. It's gonna be hella expensive though. I either want a powerhouse all in one receiver like the NAD T778. Or I'm gonna do a cheaper model from Denon for the center and rears (3600 or whatever they replace it with at the time) and run my fronts with a proper power amp from NAD (C268 or something similar). Future plans though, I'll keep rocking my stereo set-up for a good while.
I have some microlabs speakers that have served me well so far. They lack the heavy punch whatever the fuck Zabo is sporting I am sure, but I really dont need to bring the house down - especially since I'll be buying a flat.
Not really seeing the point of that set up given there doesn’t appear to be an SSD there. Cart before the horse m8.
For the record, all my AV equipment is entry level stuff and can be had for less than 1500€/$ altogether, OLED excluded.
Being into music and guitar amps I certainly value good sound, but I'm hardly an audiophile. When it comes to TV sound tho, you simply have to upgrade, it's a moral imperative. Well, unless you're like the couple that relieved me of my old Bravia. They wanted to hear how it sounded, so I put on a David Gilmour concert ... and they couldn't believe what they were hearing. "Wooow, the depth of the sound! It's like it's coming right at you, don't you think, honey?" And I was like ... y-yes, yes indeed, phenomenal sound coming out of those tiny TV speakers, yessir. Good thing I had already sold my receiver, otherwise they might've asked to hear how it sounded through that and I would've lost a customer.

i shamefully admit that i'm one of those who would be fine with the sound from the tv speakers lol. that being said i still upgraded it with a decent setup.

I use wired headphones most of the time on my TV, but I realised the other day the TV speakers outputs Atmos which is cool (not like real Dolby Atmos I assume)

My wife was the same until she got spoiled. Now she’s kinda snobby about it which I think is funny.

I feel like audio has a lot of diminishing returns because the nutters are willing to spend so much. People won’t notice much more money in your set up, ya know. This is especially true for space. A 5.1 set up still fills most rooms spaces. ATMOS or a 7.1 set up really requires a large viewing space to be fully beneficial.
I’m happy I got the company discount on my speakers. Spent 1k instead of 2k and got a 500 dollar receiver and spent about the same as you.
Almost done with my tile in the fireplace. Will update with pics soon
By Freewheelin Go To PostI use wired headphones most of the time on my TV, but I realised the other day the TV speakers outputs Atmos which is cool (not like real Dolby Atmos I assume)Yeah, "real" Atmos requires speakers in your ceiling. It's using similar tricks to other TV's that advertise "surround" sound. Just bouncing sound waves off of walls and ceilings, usually to very poor effect.
Yeah, audio does have very quick diminishing returns. The entry-level "audiophile" stuff, i.e. not-garbage, is the absolute most 99% of people need. Everything above that are marginal improvements that sometimes take a critical ear to discern. Once you get to that point, you are better off spending money on room treatment than better gear, imo.
Linius is the SLAENT authority on this, though, so listen to him over me. :p

I've always noticed there's a lot of misconception about HiFi gear. I've had so many people in the store that start the conversation by telling me they're not audiophiles. And then I just have to tell them that the audiophile title is a self proclaimed myth for people who spend too much money on audio to have a name for themselves. In the end if you dig music or movies and I put you in front of a few different speaker set-ups and amp variations everyone hears the big differences between them. Every brand has their own idea of how sound is supposed to be. And it all comes down to taste which brand you might like better. And inside the brands the difference between an entry level line and a more higher series is also very noticable. When we get to that stage it's merely just a matter of the difference in sound being worth it for you or not.
End game for me would probably be something like the Olympica line from Sonus Faber. I had the pleasure of listening to a set of Olympica 3 speakers with McIntosh gear powering them and it blew my mind. But that was a stereo set-up worth around 10K. Obviously you can go much more expensive if you'd like but I think the dimishing returns as mentioned earlier start around this level.
EDIT
Oh and another note on audiophiles. People who call themselves that I found are usually not even huge music nerds but more so gearheads. It's the thrill of buying new stuff in their audio chain that keeps them excited. And fair game to them for doing that of course.

By Daz Go To PostCeiling speakers?Atmos adds a vertical dimension to give you actual 3D sound and the best implementations of it use ceiling speakers. You can get Atmos speakers that are placed on the ground but they work by sending the sound at the ceiling and angled in such a way that it reflects back down on your head.
You cats are out of control.
I still only have a 2.1 setup because, like Linius, I don't want to spend the money it would take to do it to my standards. Would rather just stick with a great 2.1 sound.
