By JesalR Go To PostI've been joking with my girl and saying I'm picking up a 77inch OLED when we move in together.
She may marry me just to divorce me if I do
Just get all your home theater stuff sorted before the eventual move in happens mate. My one hard demand is that my floorstanding speakers will have their place in the livingroom. And the TV will be at least 55 inch, but I'd like to go to 65 inch when I get a new one. Gotta say by the way, I own an Samsung D8000 from 2011. And that thing is still solid as a rock.
It's always a sad sight when I get couples into the store where clearly the GF/wife is dictating what's going to happen. You just see them looking at all the nice stuff and they leave the shop with either a soundbar or the tiniest speakers we could find. And you just know these same women probably buy a new pair of shoes and a bag every other month.
The one LED I would get if I wasn't on OLED. Super bright.
Also with the World Series and NBA season starting tomorrow, got me thinking. I want to do something like this when I get my house in a couple years
Would probably do two mid to high end 55'' 4k TVs. Ran it by my wife. Never thought of this for some reason. She said that was actually a excellent idea. That was easy
Haven't posted here in a while, but randomly came across this 82" 8k Samsung "review". I've never seen a TV that size in somebody's home, and idk if it's the angles, but this mf looks huggggggee lol
Maaaan whenever the scene switches to pitch black and I gotta wonder if my TV is still on π
The LG C9 is a beast.

Yup. Top end LEDs have much higher nits for a brighter image, but the contrast ratio on OLED is basically infinite due to being able to completely turn off a pixel when it's not in use. My new spot is more conducive to play to OLEDs strengths, I've got much better light control now, and I love it. You need to try some games on it.
By Kawhic Go To Postc9 is nice, wish it was available in not ant sized for a reasonable price.
maybe 2020
i just posted a 82'' 8k TV breh. At that size, 8k actually makes sense. Other than that you're looking at 85''-88'' and that's it, unless you want to pay $60,000 for the 98'' Samsung TV or $30,000 for the 88'' 8K Z9.
nobody wants scaling though. will stick with 4k until 16k
82" sounds good though, 65" feelin kinda small

By Fenderputty Go To PostAnt sized is 65β now whew times are crazyif you are used to projectors you can't really go back to tiny tvs. these days i prefer the simplicity and quality of tvs, only draw back is size.

$9,000? geez.
the 77'' C9 is $4,999 here, and that's at Best Buy. Can most definitely be found for cheaper at authorized dealers online. It's the same price as the 82'' 8k Samsung.
By Smokey Go To Post$9,000? geez.best i can find is $7k but those are all unavailable right now.

That's tough. You can even get the 77'' Sony A9G Master OLED for 6k.
If that's what they're charging for LG OLEDs, what are they charging for Sony's over there?
Yurop has an overall more affordable cost of living, however, stuff like TVs and cars they truly treat like luxury goods to be bought for those that can really afford it.
What I am saying is that dipro is kawhirich.

electronics is actually not too bad these days. even games came down from $105+ at the start of the 360/ps3 gen to $80 and sometimes $70.

one of us drives a jag and the other a prius.
By Kawhic Go To Postone of us drives a jag and the other a prius. That's my point though π
Buying a Jag in America? Totally doable. My E92 M3 Coupe with less 12k miles on it cost me $35k.
My LG C9 65" was on sale for $2100. Buying cars and TVs in Europe is a supreme luxury. That 20% VAT...
By reilo Go To PostThat 20% VATβ¦we have a 7.7% vat tho
Range topping Prius after conversion to the Euro plus 20% VAT is $40K USD LOL
By Kawhic Go To Postwe have a 7.7% vat thoThought it was more than that in some countries, my bad.
By reilo Go To Post32.5% tax??? Bruhβ¦
Just casually π
By reilo Go To Post32.5% tax??? Bruhβ¦Import duty so essentially a consumption tax. It is what it is. Living on an small island nation has its drawbacks. EVs are 10% so my next car will probably be one.

CES is here, where's the 2020 thread?!
Also, funny that the thread title was talking about rollable OLED this time last year but it's only kinda here now.

nice. meanwhile in our communist community.
You will be charged vehicle registration tax if you import a vehicle. If you buy a new car in Denmark, the car dealer usually handles vehicle registration tax and number plates. 85% of the taxable value up to DKK 185,100 in 2017 and 150% of the rest.
this is why i drive a fiat panda
There hasn't been much revealed yet for ces , except for LG stuff. I'll make a thread tomorrow, should start getting more info.

No, it's not common.
But I like the idea.
The Quantum X is the only LED I would consider, and that was last years version. This year's model adds VRR. 3.1, 3000 nits brightness? That's tough .

i used to have this but these days i just put the other thing on my notebook.
I think I'm gonna be in the market for a new TV in the next couple of months. Biggest I can fit in the front room before the TV starts to overhang the shiplap fire place and look bad is 65". Thinking of a 65" C9.

Also considering getting the Phillips Hue HDMI box for Entertainment Light Synching. Seen it real time and it's kinda cool. Not sure if it would get old though.

Even if itβs not a brand-new model, if you have an LG smart TV, youβll soon have access to Appleβs original TV content. LG announced in a release that its OLED and NanoCell televisions will now support the Apple TV app β and not just the new 2020 models but its 2019 and 2018 versions as well.Good stuff
