This is a good time to bring up that he played his best line-up: Curry/Klay/Iggy/Draymond/Bogut a grand total of 77 minutes on the season.
No idea about lineup combinations
Assistant coaching implosion
Total dick to Jerry West and John Stockton
Isolations for Barnes, Klay, and Iguodala.
Egotistical dumbass
He definitely needed to go. This is going to end being like the Lionel Hollins firing where the media confuses team success for coaching quality and complains for about impatient teams or some shit for a while.
Honestly? I don't think any of that is the reason. The team achieved as much as it could have realistically hoped to in the West this year, particularly with Bogut out for the playoffs. And the players are willing to die for him. You don't axe a coach who's got a 50+ win season and the total respect of his players just because they "only" took one of the best teams in basketball who were supercharged with emotion after the Sterling thing to 7 games.
This article explains why I really think they canned him:
Jackson's strong Christian beliefs and practices are well-chronicled: The former All-Star point guard who found God later in life and has perhaps the most devout locker room in the league sees great value in sharing his spirituality with his players.
When Collins came out as the first openly gay player in the major North American professional sports, Jackson was asked how he saw the situation. He spoke highly of Collins and said he could play for the Warriors "if he had game" but also referenced his own "beliefs of what's right and wrong" and said he was "praying for (Collins) and his family." During what was a sensitive time, Jackson — whose team president, Rick Welts, was the first openly gay senior sports executive — was seen by some as insensitive.

All season you kept hearing "the front office hates him" and "he has no friends in the front office." I really don't think that's because of ego - 'big ego' describes just about every winning coach ever. I'd be willing to bet that San Francisico/Oakland is just not the market to have a head coach who has a problem with homosexuality. They wanted to ditch him before it became a thing, and I don't think you could fault Welts for saying "not on my turf."
I believe part of that too LFK.
The ego part comes from kicking West out of practice among other things. He was never even an assistant coach in the league I think. That's where the ego stuff comes from.

Now, GS is interested in Thibs.
Of course...Lacob was a minority owner of the Celtics when Thibs was Doc's assistant.

No, they didn't want him because Jackson was tired of being called out for being a crappy X's & O's coach. Thus he pretty much clashed with assistants strong in that department and alienated anyone that management felt could help him in that situation because he wanted to prove that his way was best. New ownership has always been playing on a "by committee" approach (they've been bringing in advisors and consultants from day 1- Myers started as a consultant and then bringing in logo) and Jackson's stubborn refusal to comply was ultimately what did him in, not his religion.

Wow didn't know that. He deserves to go then.

He went from TV broadcaster to coach. I can see how that would give him ego issues.

Get Camby back as 12th man. Damon Stoudamire is a coach with the Arizona Wildcats, let him coach with The Smitch, Alvin Williams and JYD as assistants to complete the set. Drake can remain head cheerleader/lint roller.
I love it.

the saddest part is that everybody can get paid + make the finals but it wont happen ;_;
Hornacek is now the longest tenured Pacific Division coach.
Oh and MCW had shoulder surgery for a torn labrum.

WTF, Spoelstra is the 2nd longest tenured coach in the NBA!?Even more amazing: Scotty Brooks is third.
Pretty sure Rick Carlisle was hired before him.WTF, Spoelstra is the 2nd longest tenured coach in the NBA!?Even more amazing: Scotty Brooks is third.

4th. Behind Carlisle.
Says a lot about OKC FO for letting such an idiot joyride with their roster for so long.

He's absolutely great at certain things (player development, motivation, plus KD loves him).
On the other hand, he's unbelievably stubborn when it comes to lineups and in-game flexibility.
Ideally we could bring on a great Xs and Os guy to be his head assistant next year. Wonder if Stan Van would consider it?
Hell, D'Antoni wouldn't be the worst assistant to bring on.

perfect idea actually
Stan needs an assistant gig before he jumps back in as a head coach--the league has changed a lot since he was here
And if Brooks continues botching things he can be next in line
Having a guy as smart and qualified as Van Gundy to essentially go over Brooks' head when things matter doesn't sound good at all. The fact that he'd be poised to take the head coaching job would be so blatant.
You'd definitely rub Brooks the wrong way and might make YNB and most importantly, Durant, feel some kind of way about it. No half measures, get rid of Brooks' dumbass so you don't allow the locker room to turn toxic.

Stan would have no problem jumping straight back into coaching. It's not like he's stopped following basketball since he stopped coaching.
I hope he doesn't take the job though cause that means he won't be on LeBatard's radio show anymore :-(

Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy has interest in the job, a source said. Van Gundy has not had interest in openings with Lakers and Wolves.

Why is SVG Golden States 2nd choice behind Kerr? Shit makes no sense shouldn't they be going for experience?
Why is SVG Golden States 2nd choice behind Kerr? Shit makes no sense shouldn't they be going for experience?Plus SVG is from the Bay area, and doesn't he also call their games? Not to mention he's a defensive coach who is used to coaching a team that bombs threes (Orlando), why would they want an unknown in Kerr?
Kerr makes more sense in NY in that he can be molded by a guy he knows/looks up to in Phil Jackson.
Stephen A. weighs in with good points, then gets racial as usual.
SVG assistant coach to Brooks? WTF?lmao Gondo
Stan is at least several leagues ahead of him.
If you ask Gondo Curry should be the backup PG to Westbrook too...
Karl's name popping up as well... wonder who will really throw a job at him.
Lakers of course was in the mix because Karl and Mitch go way back...
I hate that fit...
But Karl to GSW might be fun

The Kings are launching an analytics crowdsourcing program to help them make their draft pick.I love this idea and everything, but can the analytics program judge just how bad a pick Ben McLemore was for them?
This might just be for show, but the Kings have been on the cutting edge of their fan interaction. Their fan base had a lot to do with keeping them in Sacramento and they're hoping to make progress on their new arena. Although, a vote on the new arena will not happen on May 13, but team officials remain confident it will be built for the 2016 season.
He is coming home
lol
.......Amazing
Side note, where do you guys think Pau Gasol ends up? There are rumors one of the teams he is interested in is the Spurs. Gasol coming in as a 6th man on that team would be nuts

Most likely not going to happen unless he is will to come off the bench and take the minimum. Although with Marc a free agent next summer maybe they will make some moves to get Pau to keep Marc happy.
@SpearsNBAYahoo: Lionel Hollins is expected to interview for Warriors head coach opening during the NBA pre-draft camp in Chicago next week, a source said.
Yeah good luck with that.

Oh the Grizzlies is over the cap? Guess my dream of seeing Super Gasol Brothers in the NBA is crushed. No way Pau will take minimum since this will be his last paycheck as a player.
Don't think Pau will have a problem as a 6th man for a championship caliber team though.
Melo can't wear Toni Kukoc's number. That's the waiter's number!
You know you want this Chi town.
(and JR smith off the bench…)
Edit: yes, I'm aware Ben Gordon wore that number as well when he played in Chicago.

memphis deserves a title run.
Minnesota rejected #1 overall, Waiters, and Tristan Thompson for Kevin Love last summer. Lol how shitty that draft was last year.
