Nah, he's better than Danny Green. His measurables mean he won't ever hit the ceiling I thought he had, but he'll be a good 3rd option on a decent team, or a key bench player on a contender.
Apparently Derek Fisher didn't exactly get paid as much as we thought:
(A quick note on that contract: It is not quite as generous as has been widely reported. Although it could be worth $25 million over five years, the deal includes a number of team options, as well as potential bonuses, according to a league source. Fisher's first-year salary is closer to $4 million.)

Goddamn, people are talking this much shit about something that hasn't netted even any results. Christ, laugh about the issue when we are 20 games into the new season not right now when the ball hasn't even hit the floor. Otherwise, the whole lot of you are setting yourselves up to eat some massive crow and cock. Some of you need to take a few steps back from this until December.
wait whats wrong with Wiggins at 3?
I wouldn't mind him at 3.
but we are talking about moving up to 1 to make sure we get him.
Unless the Cavs would take a shitton of 2nd rounders, that probably means we are giving up a ton to do so.
Apparently Spurs are closing in on Ettore Messina as an assistant coach. What a steal.

cool, just the other day i wondered why European coaches get no real shot at taking over an NBA team, I don't see how a successful european coach would be more of a gamble as a player with no coaching experiences.
Perfect fit for the team too. Coached Manu, pop and the front office loves him, and would know how to work with international players

thats not really fair though its basically a new organization and it really looks like dumb dumb dolan had nothing to do with the Fisher situation. Fisher hasn't met him yet or even gone to his god damn nepotism barbecue either.

I thought it was a joke, no? Who the hell do they think they are? Marvel Universe?
Oh boy. The current trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would have to opt out and restructure their deals to make this work to give Miami a Big Four. Plus, the salary cap is expected to go up next season, which will help Miami in a big way. LeBron is also "likely to try to recoup potential salary sacrificed through fresh off-court business opportunities," according to the report. Melo has a June 23 deadline to let the Knicks know if he'll opt out of the final year of his deal. You can expect an update on him every day until then.
wont happen like cp3 to lakers.
The NBA can't really block FA signings unless they finally nail the heat for collusion
They should find a way to get Durant, LMA and Curry too. How cool would that be?
Or we could just watch the Olympics.

am I the only one who thinks its a bitch ass move by the Heat to be down 2-1 to the spurs with a stacked team and immediately they start plotting how to stack the odds in their favor even further.
Why go through the best? Just pick up the phone instead. Dat competitive nature.Worked for Danny Ainge!

If Bron/Wade/Bosh and Haslem opt out to restructure their deals Miami would have Cole and Birdman under contract with a cap at around 81 mil.
Leaving 77,401,322 to be spent on Bron, Wade, Bosh, Melo and Haslem, they'd also have to save some cash in order to have a bench.
If you have the chance you kinda have to sign Melo, but that seems like a lot of overlap in talent/position/skills Bosh isn't a C, Melo and Bron both work best at the 4. They'd have like 5 PFs.

Can't knock the hustle.
Bron is already .500 in the Finals with 3 of the 4 of those trips as the favorite on a stacked/colluded team. Adding another star won't further taint his legacy, or Bosh/Wade's for that matter, those who feel negatively towards them won't increase because of this.

Melo would likely be their 6th man.... thats the crazy part about going after him.
They could make smaller salary space and get a guy like Gortat who as a center would make them unstoppable. The spurs having a superior rotation of Bigs is hurting them way more than anything else these Finals. However, at this point its like they rather take Star talent from their competitors as much as add it to their own.

Seriously spending that 15-18 mil on Gortat/Jordan Hill for 12 mil ish and spend the rest on someone to replace Chalmers.
im more convince riles is using them dirty cuban money to give players under the table.Heat officials and the team's leading players have "already started to explore their options" for creating financial flexibility to attempt to sign Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN.com.The Heat are hilarious.
The cap is at $63 million man not $81 million. The way they can fit Melo (he would play PF next to Lebron at SF and Bosh at C) is by everyone taking a big ass pay cut. Then they would only have the Room Exception (~$2.5 million) and veteran minimums to throw around. They would be left with something like
Cole/Douglas
Wade/Room Exception
Lebron/Beasley
Melo/Haslem
Bosh/Birdman
Also, Lebron's team has only been favored in 2 out of the 5 Finals he's been in (v Dallas and v SAS in 2013). Also, the Heat would only have cap room if the Big 3 split up or take pay cuts. They're obviously not taking pay cuts to sign fucking Gortat or Vazquez.

"cant knock the hustle"
>proceeds to knock hustle
Let me clarify, can't hold it against the FO for trying to see what they can do. Players colluding and joining forces like this is pretty lame.

I'm assuming since the Heat want to be the 2012 olympic team they will ask Melo to be their off the bench scorer mostly. He could start at F alongside Lebron but the real slaughter would be having a guy like Melo coming in fresh after a teams best defenders are exhausted from trying to keep up with Lebron.
Also it would still leave the Heat at a disadvantage against teams with a good big's rotation.
Also, Lebron's team has only been favored in 2 out of the 5 Finals he's been in (v Dallas and v SAS in 2013).
HA you're right. OKC was favored to win against Miami
Would be interesting to see Melo in Miami to see if Spo is really that amazing at building chemistry or if LeBron, Wade, and Bosh just don't have any issues with conflict and role.
Not sure how it would work. Replacing the corpse of Shard with Melo will certainly help them, but I wouldn't want Melo taking shots away from LeBron or Bosh so it may not help too much if Melo tries to keep up a similar usage.
Vegas did favor the Thunder IIRC. OKC had just backswept a team that won 20 straight games and Harden and Westbrook looked unstoppable. Harden went from being impossibly good against the Spurs to extremely bad against the Heat though.

Not even Melo is dumb enough to shoot as much as he usually does with Lebron, Wade and Bosh. He would be able to be himself when Lebron and Wade are on the bench though. Spo has never seemed to like Bosh in that role.

No actually, we all knew Bargnani would suck. I remember my posts and going berserk about that trade.
Amare helped the team a lot more than he's hurt it, so that's a no. Same for Felton, no matter how much he sucks. Fisher hasn't even had one game as a coach, he has no background to laugh at.
All of you also laughed at Jason Kidd, hell, even I trolled, and ultimately he did a pretty decent job because he was surrounded by the right people.

I swear to God I was thinking about this scenario two days ago...what would Knick fans do if Melo left for the Heat? I'd imagine a massive suicide. Others would just become Heat fans. And the sadomasochistic ones would remain Knicks fans. Which left me wondering, what would I do?
I've said this before, but I've been a Melo fan since day one. Always liked the Nuggets, but never rooted for them against the Knicks, so I stayed loyal to my team ultimately. I bought an NBA Street game because Melo was on the cover, even.
But now I live in Florida. And if Melo comes here, it'll be so, so hard for me NOT to root for the Heat. But ultimately, I feel like I'll remain a Knick fan.
I jimagined them in Heat unis and then threw up in my mouth a little. It was all sour and nasty-tasting.
I don't know if a midget SG who can't dribble at all can start in the NBA… Harris is like if Danny Green had a standing reach that was seven inches worse. He's young enough to work with though. If Stephen Silas got Curry''s loose handle tighter and was able to teach Monta's illiterate ass angles, then I'm sure he can get Harris to at least Lowry's level of ugly and efficient ballhandling.

Kidd had 6 all-stars on his team tho...
D-Will, JJ, KG, PP, AK47, Lopez...
So he had tools to work with, and at the start of the season they were horrible.. Spilling his drink was the only coaching he did early on..
Then Lopez broke his foot and he had to make some new lineups and they worked..
I love Kidd as a player, but he reminds me an awful lot of Vinnie last year as a coach
