For shits and giggles: list your top 3 and bottom 3 prospects that could legitimately be drafted with your team's highest pick and why you want/don't want them.
Sacramento Kings: 8th pick
Top 3
Bottom 3
Sacramento Kings: 8th pick
Top 3
- Tyler Ennis => Would represent the first legitimate, unselfish pure point we've had probably since the Kings came to Sac. His floor general abilities and maturity would be an incredible breath of fresh air. Good size and amazing length for a PG. I can't believe how much people are underselling this guy because of his lack of elite athleticism, defense and limited offensive game at the moment. He's absolutely gonna be the steal of the draft if he slides past the 10th pick.
- Julius Randle => Still on the hunt for a big that can complement DMC. Disciplined defender man-to-man/off-ball and vicious rebounder on both ends. I believe he'll grow out of his careless turnovers and refine his skills on offense after not getting the ball every possession. If Randle is gone I guess I wouldn't mind if we take Vonleh but his ineptitude in team defense isn't going to do a bottom 10 defensive team any favors.
- Gary Harris => Fantastic all around player. I think he's the top SG in the draft. A complete defensive package, very capable shooter and solid ball handler. I'm not too worried about his average athleticism and struggles to create since a smart player like him that has the fundamentals down will absolutely find a way to adapt to the game at the next level.
Bottom 3
- Marcus Smart => Listed everywhere as a PG, but can't help seeing a combo guard. The absolute last thing we need is another scoring "PG". Great slasher but can't space the floor with shooting and we're lacking in that enough as it is. Can pass but gets tunnel vision. Average ball handler for his position. Careless with the ball. 1.75 AST/TO ratio. Emotional headcase. Flopper. To me, his commitment, awareness and versatility on D are his only promising qualities.
- Doug McDermott => Tweener with no length. Handle not good enough for SF. Strength not good enough for PF. Overall man-to-man defense not good enough for either position. Superstar in college but I doubt most of his points that came in the paint will translate when he's already significantly bothered by length of wings and bigs in the NCAA. Though I'm sure his shooting will carry over and he'll help space the floor. Effort and basketball IQ on both ends is very promising as well.
- Aaron Gordon => Oh, look. It's Derrick Williams Part 2! Now with even less length, free throw shooting, rebounding ability and offensive capability. No jumper. No touch around the basket. Plays like a guard. His driving game will never translate. He probably won't ever be a contributing factor on offense. I feel that he's a top candidate for our FO because they stand by the belief that this team can never have enough youth and athleticism. To be fair, I love his character, motor and unselfishness. He's probably the best all-around defensive big in the draft too.
Top 3:
Smart-Elite stats, plays both ends, can get to the rim and to the line, super strong and coordinated, very good man defender, great help defender. Hopefully his shot and shot selection can be fixed.
Vonleh-Could eventually be a stretch 4 who can rebound and defend pick-and-roll with some faceup skills in a few years.
Saric-I like Nurkic and Anderson more, but neither guy will be an option at 5. He plays really hard and has great court awareness and passing ability. Should be a solid player on both ends who does a lot of different things.
Bottom 3:
Aaron Gordon-This dude's offensive game is so horrible. SFs who have no perimeter skills other than passing are guys who choke away spacing in the NBA.
Julius Randle-His offense was entirely built around his physical advantages, but he'll have few to none physical advantages in the NBA. Either a banger who is too small to bang or a faceup guy with no jumper or right hand at all.
Doug McDermott-Too small to play PF, too slow to defend SFs or get open against SFs, just horrible stats. His role is as a deep bench player in the NBA.

Sixers
(ANY OF THE TOP 4 YO)
In no order
Wiggins - He fits perfectly with our system of athletes who can't do somethings that good. I have faith that Brown will teach him how to shoot better. I do question his bitchassness but we are in a position where if he's on the board, that matters less. I would change my view if we were sitting at 1.
Parker- Dude can score and was litterally born and raised to be a basketball player (best wiki in the game yo). We kinda need a guy who can score..like badly. His defense is ass but in theory Noel and MCW (if he learns how to not get owned by screens) can cover for that. Plus the city probably won't eat him alive like it would Wiggins. His fatness worries me tho
Embiid- I don't care if he doesn't fit great with Noel. I generally never see what makes many young bigs special but Embiid constantly impressed me every game I saw (normally because Wiggins was crying in the car somewhere) even with Kanasas' shit ass guards. Again I am wary of having another potential injured big for the 3rd year straight and I'd rather have one of the wings but if Embiid is on the board..take him and fucking run.
Exum - Dat accent. His fit with MCW is questionable but MCW isnt good enough for that to matter. The twin PG system worked for The Suns and MCW even if he gets better will need another ballhandler to help him out..Wroten is too YOLO to be that. Of the big 4, he's the one I least want but I wouldn't be crushed by it.
Others I'dbe okay with our second pick
Smart - He is a steal if he's somehow still on the board.Same thing goes as Exum
Randle - See smart..but it depends heavily on who we take at 3. Parker is a no, Wiggins or Exum is a yeah.
Gordon- Dude jus winz. I think he'd be a nice fit with Parker..
Those I don't want
Randle at 3 - I'd murder a dude if we took him at 3. Randle doesn't have history on his side. I do like how he kinda adjusted later in the year but we damn sure didn't tank to take him at 3. He is better off being a secondary get rather than our main prize. This goes for Smart, Vonleh, and Gordon as well.
Saric - Nothing against him, I just greedily want both of out top picks to play this year..will make the Tanking 2 : Electric Boogaloo much better.
James Young(depending on the day of the week)- I go back and forth on him. He has potential but he is also a shooter who didn't shoot well and a defender who would get bodied by Yi's Chair. So what does he have going for him. At best he may be Nick Young without the swag and nobody has time for that
Rodney Hood (at 10) - Ehhh never was impressed by him actually
But honestly, I could be talked into anyone at this point. As long as we come away from this draft with one of the top 4, I am cool with whatever else we do. Just don't fuck it up and get cute Hinkie.

Could someone please explain to me why any GM would draft Aaron Gordon in the top 10.
Am I missing something about his game?
Holy crap. Hiring announcers as coaches must be a new NBA trend.

exum: elite handles, elite first step, ridiculous measurements (6'10" wingspan and 8'7" standing reach, can cross-match on SFs), great at getting to the rim and finishing. I figure him to be a 6'6" Tony Parker. His shitty free throw percentages and left-hand are worrying and he dies on screens but I love exum and prefer him over any of the top 4.
parker: already showcased great offensive potential at only 18, can score from anywhere, goes left and right and can finish with both hands, underrated rebounder and shotblocker in college. bad on d and is fat tho, also he renders tobias harris completely redundant.
embiid: back issue is worrying but he's but so much potential otherwise, has a natural feel for the game on offense. needs to quit fouling however. him and vucevic probably wont fit together but eh, we can move vuc.
bottom 3
wiggins: marvin williams/harrison barnes 2.0
randle: probably wont be more than a rebounder in the nba
smart: not really in my bottom 3 but chad ford is floating that the magic like him a lot so i pray he doesn't get picked 4th
for the 12th pick, it depends on who is picked 4th. if parker is the selection then elfrid payton and tyler ennis look good. if exum, probably stauskus.

I think JVG would be an upgrade as a coach but I am not really sure about him being a GM. Although maybe he can get some family deal to get Prince back to Detroit so he can retire a Piston and actually get something worthwhile from big bro.
iwmtb, do you know much about payton? chad ford is already starting up the hype train for him.
Really big PG with great handles, quickness, and hesitation moves. If his guy is playing him closely, he can get to the basket and to the line at will. The problem is that his jumper is really terrible and he needs to work on both the smoothness of his release and his footwork. People play off him really far and he doesn't attack the basket as much as would be optimal because people give him so much space. If his jumper gets good and people have to play him closely, he should be able to get around almost any guard in the league though. He's a good passer and seems pretty patient and can find the open man in his passing.
I wrote about him a few days ago if you want a super long winded version. I have him 11th overall.

I want Rodney Hood or Gary Harris at 13, I think. Still want nothing to do with James Young. No thanks to Stauskas, either.
new jabari workout, them powerful strides
yeah those shooting stats are rondo bad, but i like his other attributes

yo
why is there even an argument
i told yall he's a much better athlete than he appears to be and he actually has the handle and skillset to get above the rim unlike Barnes and Wiggins who can only do it in transition and once in a blue moon in iso sets
zach just dont care brehs
yall better not go the safe route with Harris
LaVine gon eat in a few years
your call though

i warned yall about exum
just remember those words
The thing I don't get about the Exum hype is that barely anybody has seen him play in person, right? So we're judging him based off youtube videos?
the magic have been scouting exum for almost 2 years now, hennigan's assistant gm went to the u19 tourney to watch him play.
Exum has also been working out in LA, pretty sure that scouts were at a few of his private workouts. If he wasn't able to show he was worth a top 5 pick, I think word would have spread by now.

Has he dropped some weight since the tournament? Damn, he looks like he's in the best shape he's been.

Prefer him to Dunleavy but feel about the same about him as I do Scott.

yea
he looks nba ready weight wise and he hasn't seen a day in a pro weight room yet
people are legit arguing Embiid over Davis on realgm
like, what?
Davis is a fucking 27 PER player in his second year of basketball while barely giving a fuck most nights

Parker looks like shit….don't be fool by the magic of editingYou can't go wrong with the top 4. Wiggins might actually be the riskiest choice. You're sitting pretty.
yeah
;_;
Beasley just liked his jump shot too much. He'd rather float around on the perimeter than go to the basket.

do you think Cuban should just throw whatevers left of the cap at Ariza and Gortat and call it a day
probably their best, maybe only move

“There’s only one place that Thibodeau would really push to go elsewhere, and that’s to go back to the New York Knicks,” Bucher said. “That, I’m told by one source, is actually his dream job, to go back and get the Knicks back on the map. But short of that, he realizes that no matter where he goes, the grass isn’t always greener.”The good news.
The good news for Chicago is that it would appear unlikely that New York would come calling anytime soon. Not only does president of basketball operations Phil Jackson want to get someone to coach the Knicks with whom he has an established previous relationship, but New York has almost nothing to offer in terms of compensation should the Bulls agree to let Thibodeau out of his contract.
Sounds like more Bucher bullshit to me. Seriously most of today's sports journalists are no better than those working for TMZ.
@daldridgetnt: Whoa: Dave Joerger, per source, has declined the Timberwolves' offer and will remain coach in Memphis.I'm confused.

Seems like Pera played hard ball for compensation and Wolves called his bluff but he wasn't bluffing.
