Dieng can shoot it a little bit and doesn't have horrific hands, though.3 years ago he couldn't do shit.
Because he was older, I think. Turned 24 during his rookie season. He also couldn't stay on the court the first few months. But once he figured out how to play defense without fouling, yeah, he was great. Something like 11 and 11 and a couple blocks the last seven, eight weeks there.Dieng can shoot it a little bit and doesn't have horrific hands, though.
people slept so hard on Dieng
i dont understand it at all
Ryen Russillo has an interesting article about the top draft prospects on Grantland.
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/ryen-russillos-nba-draft-confidential-real-scouts-on-wiggins-randle-embiid-and-parker/Wiggins has offensive holes in his game — no dribble, no pass, streaky shooter. His sex appeal is only his athleticism. He will be lost in an NBA half-court offense. He is great in transition, but he has no ball skills. All right hand, no idea what to do without the ball. He struggles with confidence. He actually reminds me more of Gerald Green than any of these studs he’s compared to.He needs to add a whole bunch of other stuff to be the scorer people think he can be. He needs to forget shooting 3s. His shot isn’t great, but it isn’t broken.
And the Wolves would take Wiggins if they had the first pick.
as iwmtb said, the entirety of wiggins' offense in the halfcourt is running into people and praying for a foul to be called
as iwmtb said, the entirety of wiggins' offense in the halfcourt is running into people and praying for a foul to be called
That works for a lot of players though.

You either learn to hit 3s like Paul Pierce and finish at a high enough percentage at the rim to warrant a whistle or pray that you're built like Gerald Wallaceas iwmtb said, the entirety of wiggins' offense in the halfcourt is running into people and praying for a foul to be calledOh so he's perfect for today's NBA.
signs ain't positive
RT @WojYahooNBA: Watching Joel Embiid in workout for league executives in Santa Monica. Impossible to imagine passing on him at No. 1.

only one problem
hard to get to the rim when you cant dribble

good

Kyrie will be the first player to deny the max in favor of a QO in our modern era

Yeah, cause there are so many PF's / C's with great handles in todays league.
oops. thought that was about embiid.
Anyone thinking the cavs should take another wing when they have no front court but kyrie / waiters is an idiot with Embiid sitting there as a possibility.
Wiggins will play PF or C?as iwmtb said, the entirety of wiggins' offense in the halfcourt is running into people and praying for a foul to be calledOh so he's perfect for today's NBA.

Jabari Parker will be a legit all-star in this league.
Wiggins will make for an amazing role player.
Cavs gonna take Doug McDermott with the 1st pick.

I hope we can move up in the draft..
Favors and Burks need to stay though. Burks' potential is just too high right now just to move up a few spots in a draft IMO.

Also, I've been reading into Dario and its hard not to be hyped for him

But when has the word "should" ever figured into the Cavs' decision making process?
Wiggins running into someone and praying for a foul isn't going to work in the NBA because NBA players will be quick enough to keep up with him and won't be out of position so Wiggins won't get the foul calls. LeBron and Harden and Durant can do a bunch of different things that keep defenders on their toes and make it hard to adjust to their quickness. Wiggins drives in a straight line and can't make jumpers or layups or jump off the dribble.
He is really good defensively though.

Not getting the hype with him... an unathletic tweener with a bunch of question marks across every aspect of his game with exception to maybe passing?
I guess the SF/PF alternatives after Jabari and Wiggins aren't anymore appealing though.
do people not understand how big of a deal 19 and 9 as a freshmen at Duke is or something
why is there even a debate
He is fat and apparently got fatter after his season ended. You also have to worry about his lateral quickness and his lack of defense. Plus he is an awful fit with the Cavs
Yeah expected Saric to make a leap this year and just didn't really materialize.
I still like him and think he's potentially a very good player at the 7-10 spot. But it is concerning that he's not dominating the Adriatic League (still leading scorer, but), which is one of the weaker leagues in Europe.

Awesome to hear that Embiid's is 100% and better than ever, dude is amazing.
Saric has great court awareness and all the intangibles and can really start fast-breaks, but he's such a poor athlete. It'll be interesting to see how good he is defensively in the NBA. He plays really hard and has great awareness on defense, but he has short arms, isn't quick, and can't jump, so...
Saric did win MVP and lead his team to a really surprising championship, I think he came close to dominating his league. He wasn't nearly as productive as Nurkic statistically, but he was a super valuable player.

i dont understand it at allHonestly I think it was the "foreign player" thing. I was hoping Dieng fell to the Knicks last year, I loved his game at Louisville.
gooderrr... you know a knock on Kyrie is that he doesn't play well with bigs. I hope he gets rid of that stigma.

Its the same model as OKC had, just less talented.
Kyrie/Westbrook
Jabari/Durant
Waiters sixth man/Harden sixth man
Thompson/Ibaka
Does it chip? IDK, but its strong enough for the eastern conference and better yet its a sure thing. They definitely need defensive help, but you can work for that in free agency and through trades.
Whats the worst case scenario? You're competing in the ECF in a few years and Jabaris 24 and 7 looks inferior to Embiids 18, 11 and 4 + DPOtY ? Oh well.
Or the alternative--Embiid can't survive health wise in the league and they have another bust.
Its the Cavs though so Wiggins.

Won't be so bad to get Boris Diaw type production from the 7-10 spot. Given how that's turned out in the last 10 years. Especially for a team like Charlotte.
That's really my biggest interest in him. I'm not sure what it is about Charlotte, but we've loved some high post, PF-driven offense. McBob was one of the best distributors in the league last year and Diaw (as much as I didn't like how he downright turned away shots) was really under appreciated before that.Awesome to hear that Embiid's is 100% and better than ever, dude is amazing.

I mean... we're in a good spot between Nik and Harris, even Dough (though do not want), but Saric should be looked at too.
The reports of Embiid's health make me happy for him (and the league), but pissed at the Cavs. They hit the jackpot with Kyrie and picked borderline starters with their other top 4 picks, made stupid trades for Hawes and Deng rentals, and they luck out with the best big man prospect since Dwight (or Oden).
Simmons talking about the Lakers trading the 7th pick for Chandler Parsons. The Rockets flipping it and other stuff for Love.
Hey Moris
If the Lakers tanked all year for Chandler Parsons…
Yeah, like Simmons had any real source on the Lakers.
He's just a super fan getting paid to troll other fans.
He doesn't have to have Laker sources. He plays World of Warcraft with Morey on the low.
Yao Ming don't agree with Hakeem.
Yao pointed out that even though the Rockets pass over the Blazers, they would still lose to the Spurs in the 2nd rd. "Look at the roster and starting line-up…" Yao said, "…Harden, Howard, Parsons are 3 primary scorers. Beverley and Jeremy Lin is one way or the other. One is more of a defensive player and the other is more of a facilitator. Among the starters, you just can't find anybody who can get everybody involved. Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much."He's also trying to buy the Clippers.

Noel has gained a lot of muscle.
Not that he had much of a choice, but Brett Brown worked him super hard. Apparently even fixed his jumper.
I want to believe but Sixers

That's never a good sign. Why did the Suns pick Alex Len? :/i think their med staff red flagged Noel.
The Suns never did a medical examination of Noel.
Plus, Len's feet are completely fucked and done so I don't know how praise-worthy their staff is for their performance in last year's draft.

They got all of his medical records.
And the same with Len.
With their batting average versus other Med staff, i'm taking their word over everyone elses.
the "he looks completely healthy guys" comments are odd considering we all know the nature of stress injuries are cyclical--there's nothing on display here that is any indication of future health
my Embiid concerns go beyond health though--he's got a bad attitude and I'm not sure if he's going to be able to stay on the court most nights because of that and his inability to play guys honest without fouling

NBA Insider Ric Bucher speculates that Tom Thibodeau would only leave Chicago for New York.
While Thibodeau hasn't expressed a desire to leave the Bulls, Bucher called coaching the Knicks a "Dream Job." for Thibodeau. However, with free agency and the NBA draft looming, there are still plenty of decisions ahead.

It's an interesting take, but it conveniently neglects to mention that by his metric, Kevin Love shouldn't have gotten the max, which is the whole reason why the T-Wolves are in this shit storm to begin with.
The premise is good though. Cavs shouldn't just make Kyrie a no brainer 16m a year guy.
EDIT: Man it looks like Nurkic is going to drop into the teens. Ferry pls.
