Swaggy P probably won't be here next season. LA doens't have enough players to run 2 on 2 drills. We'll probably be in the bottom 3 next season.
True, but still. All-stars or borderline leastern all-stars at every position.Curry/Afflalo/Iggy/Love/Bogut would be an insane lineup when healthy.Bogut is never healthy
Chad Ford:
Fuck off, fuck, fuck, fuck.
Gordon sucks so bad. His max upside is something like Draymond Green and I think that's being really optimistic.
Why not Marcus Smart to the Jazz?
Chad Ford (1:22 PM)
I actually think he'd be a good fit. A big guard who can play both positions and provide toughness, leadership and can play right out of the gate. I just get the feeling for the last year that the Jazz have never been as high on him as other teams were. I think the wildcard for them is actually Aaron Gordon

kobe wont allow that to happen
he'll bitch so loud in the media that mitch will be forced to make a useless win now move that mortgages the future

Luckily Kobe isn't the GM, he ain't even getting a say in who the next coach is. Plus his untradeable contract. He has no leverage, all he can do is make Jim uncomfortable for 2 seasons.
That of course depends on if Jim actually is or isn't an idiot.
That of course depends on if Jim actually is or isn't an idiot. There was once a time when Knicks fans wondered the same thing.
That of course depends on if Jim actually is or isn't an idiot. There was once a time when Knicks fans wondered the same thing.
There's a time every fan base wonders that about every GM and owner.
Well Buss already proved himself to be a pussy or an idiot by extending Kobe so that question has already been answered.
What was the goal? "Bribe" Kobe into accepting a tank job his last two seasons by paying him more than any other player? I'm not sure what the extension was for. It literally wastes two years of valuable tanking efforts or potential free agent acquisitions given that nobody wants to play with Kobe at this stage of his career.
It just seems clear that they are going for Dwightmare strategy #2, which is to bring in another star alongside Kobe while whispering in his ear that "the team is yours in two years".
The strategy is completely dependent on how much patience said superstars would have.
The Love thing is still in play so who knows, but its a dicey strategy right now.

The goal was to not have Kobe Stan Nation burn Staples Center to the ground in anger. They care more retiring his jersey and having him only play for one franchise than short term cap management. Besides, they're the Lakers. They're invincible, right?

Aa @JerryZgoda - who broke Joeger-Minny talks - reports, Memphis' ask for compensation won't be hurdle. Grizz will facilitate, sources say.
You can have pick 53 in this draft. Cool?
Kobe makes the Buss family a lot of money is what the decision boiled down to. We ain't competing with or without Kobe in the next 2+ seasons anyway so it's hard to get mad at the decision.

Fuck this you could have at least faked like you were demanding a first. Hell even just Joerger and 22 for whatever Minnesota has would have been something.
This is fucking awful.

Does the Grizzlies owner have a history of doing Dolanthings or is this a new development?
It's so weird considering that they were maybe one piece away from contending.

@ChrisVernonShow: If Grizzlies gettin new coach, told they will start by lookin towards George Karl, Jeff Van Gundy, Alvin Gentry.
At least Musselman isn't on the list.

Is there some kind of rule that you're not allowed to publish a list of prospective coaches without putting Van Gundy's name on it? Like, does his agent pay a percentage for that?
And really, on what planet is anybody with any kind of cachet going to take that job now?
I am sure it is his agent. Same thing happens with Gruden for every football opening at every level. Creates demand for clients.
And while things look bad on the surface this team (even if one more year if Marc leaves) still a fringe contender and one good draft pick in a good draft from being a legit contender.
Gasol.

Which Grizzlies players will be free agents next year?
Gasol.
Gasol.Oh boy.
edit: Z-Bo too.
Miller, Calathes, and Udrih expire this year as well.
This is such weird timing.
Hey all! I used to post on NBAGAF back in the 08-11 days. Missed you guys. This place looks awesome.

Apparently Lowry's only asking 10-12m a year?
In a world where Brandon Jennings makes 8 million dollars a year that's almost a steal.

TP's last deal was 4 years 50m.
So Lowry asking for 12 a year is not on Millsap's 2 year 19m level. But still.

OMG.
OMG.
That is one of the most rigged series ever. No way was Stern going to hand the title to Kobe during his legal issues. Pistons were allowed to hack and grab the Lakers all series with no calls
Oh that lakers pick next year is going to be sooo good. Thanks nashty
If its top 3, Suns get jack.
And if it's not, which is much more likely, Lakers get jack.
You'll have atleast 2 eastern franchises bottoming out and getting under 20 wins. I don't think the lakers are really ready to get on that level.
I feel bad for jazz fans. Let Horny go to interview Gentry? I would be pretty pissedNothing wrong with Alvin.
He'd probably be good for them.

edit: I wouldn't so confidently say LA won't be bottom 3...they're definitely just as bad as the bottom of the east. Bucks, Magic will get a boost from their draft addition. Philly is adding through the draft and Noel will debut.
Utah will be better just by getting more experience. Their pick may not translate to wins but their roster should be able to improve upon last year. Plus The West will have 9 or 10 teams above .500 that will easily snatch up wins against LA.
LA literally has 4 players as of right now. They'll be right there with Boston at the end of next season if they don't add anyone worthwhile.

Honestly, I was afraid he'd ask in the range $14 to max and get it. If he'll take $10 you run away laughing.
Yeah even for $12 he's a steal. The guy is extremely talented and one of the best PGs in the league.Apparently Lowry's only asking 10-12m a year?

lowry aint worth 12M
and there's a long line of PG's ahead of him.
I think they sort of have to make a run at 10M. But that they'll end up regretting it. But there's no one else really available to them, and they need time to let Derozan and Ross develop into the true core of the theam.

If Smart could single handily improve LA's 2013 win total by 13-20 wins I'd be super impressed considering how the roster looks at the moment.
Even if Smart could get LA a ton of wins, LA lost it's entire 2013 roster except for Sacre (who only play 17 mins a game). Kobe and Nash are essentially new additions for 2014 and could be out long stretches without shocking anyone. We'll be in the bottom 3 almost for sure.
boston, bucks, philli, pellicans, denver, chicago(depending) NY knicks, cavs, hawks, hornetts, magic, mavs.
There's a long list of teams that are potentially going to be competing very hard to be terrible.
But please, do go on about how horrible the lakers are.

It's weird that you guys are trying to say LA isn't prime to be one of the worst teams in the league.
Denver was only 10 games under .500. They have Lawson, Chandler and Faried and they'll be getting Gallo back next season, Javale and Hickson aren't Robert Sacre bad.
Nola has Holiday, Davis and Evans. As well as Anderson and whatever they can squeeze out of Gordon.
Chicago will have Rose back, Boozer (lol), Gibson, Dunleavy, Butler. Noah is getting work done on his knee, haven't heard when he'll be court ready.
Cavs already had 33 wins with Kyrie, Deng and Varejao. Kyrie, Wiggins/Embiid, Waiters, Jack, Varejao should be able to get around that same amount of wins.
Hawks had 38 wins and made the playoffs. They might slip a little but I doubt they will slip enough to be among the worst in the league.
Hornets were 4 games over .500. They'll only be better next year with MKG developing.
Philly will be adding Noel and the 3rd overall pick. They'll be bad but not as bad as they were in 2013.
Mavs will be bad, how bad will depend on Dirk and who they sign. Definitely could be bottom 3 bad.
Boston will be bad.
Bucks will be bad.
Knicks will be bad.
Magic will be bad.
Lakers will easily be bottom 5 with a good chance of bottom 3 if the FO doesn't add substantial pieces.

So much sweat calm down breh, embrace your new Milwaukee Bucks lifestyle. There's probably a good role player perfect for the neo-Lakers' 2015 #12 pick.
Oh wait that's the Suns' pick
