What actually changed with Team USA with the Redeem team? They play Pitino-ball with 4 out & 1 in hero ball offense.
Not great in the half court. Really falls apart if the threes don't drop.

http://youtu.be/bh5eIETc0isInteresting take from bballbreakdown on how the power forward fits into team defenses. Coach nick is not very forthcoming about his methods here but he cobbled together some amalgamation of advanced $tat$. The interesting part to me was how they concluded that a defensive point guard isn't really necessary for solid team defense output. Seems like gstate, Portland, spurs, etc are following this blueprint. Flimsy pf/pg defense, solid wing defenders, rim protector, ice the pick n roll, allow quick guards to score from the midrange, etc.disclaimer: rushed/lazy thoughts below
Thoughts?
without watching the video….. yeah. You're PG doesn;t have to be a really good or elite defender just not a terrible defender(kyrie/lillard/felton). point guards usually operate pretty further out on the perimeter than the wings so it's pretty hard not to allow decent penetration, it's the 2nd and 3rd line of defenses, wing and rim protection that matter. Only works with a good defensive philosophy and rotation anyway.
Yeah, the PG thing is a known factor.
Surprising about the PF thing, but not when you see who the other big on the team is. Rolo / Amare took the suns far. But that seems to be the common trend when the PF is a defensive liability, sooner or later he's going to be exploited big time, and your run ends there.
Yea, this is more evidence that lamarcus aldridge is underrated by the majority of nba fans. His man to man post defense is mediocre but he's alright in the pick and roll and his value to the offensive system is second to none among pfs. Players like him and dirk can be more than the sum of their parts in the right system. This is also probably why golden state would have been so so interesting to watch with kevin love and a more competent X's and O's coach.
Rolo is also a stud but you probably knew that.
I don't know how you go from that to LMA being under rated on D. Cause he isn't.
I'd say LMA and Rolo as a pairing are going to have the same troubles that amare / rolo did. Both LMA and Rolo are more mature now, but eh.
Diaw is an under rated defender (by the media, not this board). And that has helped SA tons.
Klay is pissed that the Warriors thought about dealing him for Love (even though they didn't).
Is this guy is a delusion egomaniac or just a crazy person?
Then again, it's a Bucher report about Klay so it may be more tales from the voices in his ass.
Klay is mad another tea wanted him? The Warriors seemed to basically say trading Klay wasn't an option from the start...
this is why i don't like that ugly chumpWhy do you think he's ugly? I think it'd be a problem if his coaches or the gm thought it was ugly, you know, people being PAAAAAYED to judge his ugliness.
your opinion obv doesn't matter.
Love's pretty face isn't worth the max, i'd rather max klayface
or something
Bucher is always full of shit.
Congrats Forever on Plumlee making the team and somehow managing to get a negative rating and +/- on Team USA practice rounds.

This really sucks. That's the second super team the Wolves made happen in under a decade.
Contract the Wolves already.
over under 20 wins for the wolves?
Over. They were somewhere between a 40 and 48 win team last year. Replacing Love with Young probably costs them 15 wins, but that still leaves them some range from 25 to 33 wins.
you gotta compensate for tank dreams and lowered expectations :ugeek:over under 20 wins for the wolves?

Over. They were 40-42 last season. While KLove for Thad is a downgrade I don't think they drop that hard. I think 29/30 wins if Pek and Rubio don't go down.
you gotta compensate for tank dreams and lowered expectations :ugeek:No, they won't be tanking, they've already got Wiggins and LaVine.
Even discounting whatever Wiggins does, Rubio, Pekovic, Young, those guys are good players and so they'll end up around 30 wins.
Congrats Forever on Plumlee making the team and somehow managing to get a negative rating and +/- on Team USA practice rounds.According to that sample size Korver was the 2nd best defender on the team and Faried is the best player by far. Keep hating.
everyone gonna put up 100+ points against the cavsI think they'll be an above average defensive team tbh
and even if they're not, they'll be one of the best rebounding teams in the league by far. that might actually be their biggest strength

Spurs v. Cavs in the Finals. Yay/Nay?Naw.
It's not that written in stone. It'll just be interesting to see how the team fits.
Started writing up the first OT of the 2014/2015 NBA season....lots of shit happened already. Gonna end up pretty wordy.
Lakers fans on my FB feed getting mad about the accumulation of talent in Cleveland, citing the NBA blocking the CP3 trade. Yo, the Lakers were going to get CP3 for a McRib sandwich. At least the Timberwolves get something in return here. Besides, the Lakers got Gasol for like, a hacky sack.
IDK why anyone would hate on Cleveland. To date, the franchise's greatest achievement is getting swept by the Spurs in the finals. At least the Heat had a championship this century before LeBron arrived.

i still hate lakers fans more than any other fanbase (in the NBA. #fukkdook)
their suffering has rejuvenated me.

It's about LeBron. I like the rust belt storyline, but I'm sorry, any team LeBron is on is going to be Goliath, not David.

It's ok. We're still living off of 16 championships, two of the top 5 players of all time, arguably the greatest player of the last generation, and game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. When Jim Buss inevitably gets into a drunken stooper and offers to give Jeanie full control for an ounce of coke, we'll be on our way back.

They should take it up with all the other owners, since they were the ones who owned the Hornets and got pissed they were about to build yet another dynasty in LA at their own expense and blocked it. If they all had a stake in the Wolves then the Laker fans might have an argument.

Those people who bring up the CP3 thing whenever a major trade goes down just show that they really didn't understand why it happened the way it did. Which kind of makes it sadder since in their eyes the NBA just blocked a trade for no reason
With Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine flying through the air and Ricky Rubio throwing them lob passes, the Timberwolves have a chance to be the most entertaining team in the league.

I don't think LaVine will play all that much. Budinger (I'm pretty sure he still exists) or Martin will be starting at shooting guard.

I wrote up summaries for each team's offseasons so far. Gonna pm them so folks can give them a quick fact check.
