why must you cling to this lol
does it physically pain you
I've known this story for years. And I've known that the Nets threat and Tellum statement AFTER the Charlotte deal was done and Vlade decided to back out led people to blow up the story and turn it into an urban legend of Kobe blackballing every team and sonning the entire league to get to LA.
I just thought you guys knew better, and when I showed the quotes from the Charlotte/Nets front office that would put shit to rest. The timeline has been really well known for anyone who's cared to search, and as it's a huge turning point in Lakers History I researched it years ago.
But I guess a couple Art Tellum quotes are enough to make irrefutable facts irrelevant.
vlade doesn't have anything to do with it
and yeah, when tellum describes exactly how he did things... yeah
but the funniest thing is that it doesn't even matter. no one holds kobe's draft position up ever and no one has ever taken shots at kobe for the situation either
he's acting like deangelo hall right now

For the record, An agent claiming they manipulated the entire league to get their player where they wanted is pretty damn appealing to new players. Art Tellum's only marketing job is to sign Kobe Tier players, because once he has them the FO's have no choice but to work with him. What better way than to spread the myth you can hand deliver them to the franchise of their choice and run circles around every FO to do it?
What Kobe said isn't a stretch. Charlotte could have had him, so could 11 other teams. They thought getting Vlade was a better proposition. Of course someone like Kobe's going to hold that against them, shit MJ still talks about the time he didn't make the Varsity team.

that article i linked was from 2007
and the fact that kobe still refused to workout for the hornets almost entirely shuts down the idea that the hornets threw him in the bushes
kobe is getting senile

Re read the article, no where does it say Kobe refused to work out for the Hornets. It has this one Art Tellum quote, which happened AFTER THE TRADE WAS ALREADY DONE and Vlade decided to back off, Kobe was pissed that Charlotte essentially called him and said "you know the deal right? Good, because we don't need you anyway"
The Charlotte FO said they were never interested in Bryant anyway and had no idea that the Lakers would pick him until 5 minutes before the draft when they were notified.
I linked to stories of 5 workouts in big cities with everyone raving about his workouts. It would make sense that Kobe thought "I've got this in the bag, I don't need to work out for hte 13th, 14th, 15th team"
In fact he KNEW he had it in the bag with New Jersey, and that's why his parents were having dinner with Calipari the night before the Draft. It wasn't until he got word from the Lakers he had a real possibility to go there on Draft Day that anything happened.
This shit is basic, there's not the foul play you guys are expecting, but like some Obama Benghazi shit...it's turned into this story of lies and fake intrigue.
Kobe like every morning infront of the mirror:
"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me."
"I am a worthy human being."
"Trace it, face it, and erase it."
"I don't know what I'm doing. They're gonna drop my contract. I'm gonna die homeless and penniless and twenty pounds overweight and no one will ever love me."

its not in the article. duh
kobe factually refused to workout for the hornets. so why would the hornets be interested in a high school kid that wouldn't work out for them when there's an offer on the table for a legit big
but cape on
no ones even calling it foul play  webber did it, franchise did it, in a few years it may come out that jabari did it too. if you can play that card, no one is going to hold it against you. its not that big of a deal
which is why its so odd that kobe is in his feelings right now

You mean to tell me that teams state that players had great, amazing workouts around draft time?
wow.
Do you understand that the draft period is full of lies and bullshit.
The fact that Kobe worked out w/ teams doesn't change that he wanted to get to LA and maybe those reports of amazing workouts was an attempt to make them trade up to get him for sure. Tellum is a god at doing things like this to get his clients to the best possible place.
Did some teams pass on him? Yeah. HS were super risky at the time and the 96 draft is one of the best drafts ever.
But the fact is, that Kobe wanted to get to LA and his current "fuck Charlotte for not wanting me" shit is complete bullshit. Bringing up The Clippers, The Nets and shit is pointless w/ the fact that he REFUSED TO WORK OUT W/ THE HORNETS.
wow.

The Hornets weren't interested in him. The only reason the Hornets are relevant is because they're the team that West got to trade their pick, not because they wanted him but were forced to trade him away.
Wiggins didn't work out for Minnesota, does that mean Minny can't recognize game? Is that really the argument here? C'mon son.
If you guys would have read the first article I posted you would know that Charlotte never wanted Kobe. They were looking for a center all along. They didn't get blackballed, they mistakenly traded Kobe because they undervalued the shit out of him. That's Kobe's beef.
and kobe has never cheated on vanessa either
Seriously. Birth Certificate Level lunacy at this point. My only take away is none of you guys read the article I posted or even the quotes, cuz that tells the entire story.
- Kobe works out for every team that brings him in
- NIGHT BEFORE DRAFT his parents meet with Calipari to sell him on drafting Kobe
- AT THE SAME TIME West secures the deal with the Hornets to flip Vlade for an unnamed pick
- DAY OF THE DRAFT West tells Kobe's people he has a deal in place to bring Kobe to LA if Calipari passes
- DAY OF THE DRAFT Kobe and his representatives try a bluff threat to get Calipari to pass, which he ultimately does anyway for a variety of reasons.
Somehow that timeline of events of about 24 hours turned into "Kobe's told everyone he wouldn't play for them. He was ALWAYS only going to play for LA. He forced Charlotte to trade him, they had no choice. He strong armed the entire league to get his way"
The sad part is, you guys just bought that nonsense without actually researching it, it's not like it's not openly out there.
so pretty much you proved ph33s post because all he said was kobe is revising history, which is clearly the case whether you're telling the truth or everyone else in this thread is.
why is this debate even going on?
...Of course they weren't interested in him.
HE REFUSED TO WORK OUT FOR THEM. (and no Wiggins is not the same considering the Wolves had the 13th fucking pick and Wiggins was a lock to go top 3...wtf are you even bringing him up for). They took him at that point to get Divac who was a legit big at the time...and probably better than any option after their pick.
The point you seem to be ignoring is that Kobe is on some "Charlotte didnt want me" shit when that is just not fucking true. They didnt want him because he didn't want them. That factoid makes Kobe's statement look stupid. He refused to workout for them. It is his own damn fault.

And Kobe felt he was a lock to go to the Nets. If AI fell to the Hornets would they have picked him without a workout?
Kobe's entire point is "I'm the best player of that draft, teams I worked out for and didn't work out for should have known that, especially the team with the 13th pick".
Imagine AI getting traded by the 13th pick, Lebron, Jordan, Hakeem, and going "oh yea I get it, they had no way of knowing how good I was, I didn't work out for them"
You guys wondering why Kobe is catching feelings, the answer is obvious.
You shoulda known I'm the best player in the draft even without a workout. It's not my responsibility to give 20 teams a workout, it's your responsibility to properly scout and see how damn good I am.
That answer makes sense for every player who's ever been of Kobe's caliber. "How could he expect them to know if he didn't work out" is a farce

We know where Kobe is catching feelings from (his insecurities and sociopathic behavior).
The question is, where are you catching yours from?

is vag even a real laker fan?
he's defending kobe's sanctity in the same level as konex.

You already know the answer to this....
Wouldn't you rather talk about Mason Plumlee?
Here's Mason Plumlee as the only player in the delegation trying to get the 2016 Democratic National Convention held at Barclays.

smh at Curry saying he's a better offensive player than Lebron and then using passing as his justification.
Lebron's a better floor general than Curry will ever be, what's he on.

I agree with based Kobe. Trading Wiggins will be a huge mistake.
Shit I think we'll regret Bennet too. When they both "are what we thought they were", the combination is worth more than Kevin Love.

first person to get this right gets to rename vag's slaent handle. 8-)
What the shit?
Gordon Hayward
And, I picked the perfect time to go to Cancun for a week! lol
I think one thing we can all agree on is how bad NBA scouting was in the 90s. Kobe would've never went outside the top 3 pick these days, player threats or not.
Well, unless the Cavs had all the top 3 picks.

Take Kevin Love and be happy
When you're winning 60 games and dominating the Eastern Conference you will not be saying these things lol
I wanted to see the Wade-Odom-Butler core develop too. Except that we got Shaq. And I would do that deal a million times out of a million

Here's proof positive.
Plus, he couldn’t make a jump shot when he first came into the league.
"Kobe was just posting up and taking that turnaround jump shot that he still makes all the time to this day, hitting that fadeaway from 16-17 feet," Ridder said. "He must've hit 10 or 12 of them in a row at one point. It was breathtaking to watch a kid do that. He had no regard for this being Michael Cooper."
I think that's Farmar. Dumbo ears. Same eyes.
Please tell me I'm right?
Or is that Reilo, and you're fucking with us

I was just throwing anyone out there, honestly, cause I have no fucking clue. Saw the ears, and I figured "He's not posting this if it looks exactly like someone" so I thought about all people who look completely different as a kid and threw it out thereI think that's Farmar. and yeah parsons was my first guess

he had so much hype in the draft that i still can't believe he went that far down.

Don't tell me it's Plumlee
My last three guesses are Hinrich, David Lee, or Mike Dunleavy. If it's neither of three fuck it I'm out.
Besides if I was going to rename Vag, I'd just choose K. Bryant but I will defer to anyone more creative

Where a certain Canadian was drafted even later than Kobe.
I think the league overcompensated by drafting a Canadian first this year.
