Knicks schedule seriously looks easy as fuck. I just looked at it, and there are 50 easily winnable games there. I say they'll put together another season similar to the 2012-2013 one with over 50 games won. It just looks like Phil Zen Mastered the fuck out of whoever put this together…
Incredible. In studies even lab rats have learned to avoid pain by this point.

I can't wait for Brandi to bitch about the Mavs schedule.
The Clippers curse lives on! Let's see what happens when CP3 and Farmar are both injured.
At least we have more depth this year.
boring ass spurs get 19 games to ruin
them winning was the worst thing to ever happen to basketball
fuck the 3 point line, its ruined bball
and tbh pop would agree
What happened to the guy who posted all the animated .gifs of basketball games (or sports in general)? All of his links are broken from the 2014 finals, cuz I'd sho nuff post Ginobili dunking as a reply here.
Steph Curry has built his career at the 3pt line but I bet you wouldn't call him boring.

Steph Curry is one of the most exciting players in the league. Ray Allen, Kyle Korver are boring as hell unless they're hitting game winners. This isn't rocket science. The Spurs play beautiful basketball but unless you're a basketball diehard watching a bunch of guys score 15-18 points, no one dominate or take over, like 2 athletic plays all game...that can definitely be classified as boring.
BTW this isn't specific to the Spurs. Giorgio Petrosyan was considered by most to be the most techincially gifted Kickboxer ever. Absolute perfection, but the general audience found him boring. The Spain tikki-takka teams that dominated from 2008-2012 were considered technically brilliant - they shared the ball and their best players were their best passers...the overall consensus by non die-hards was that they were boring.
If you're a soccer fan, you probably enjoy watching the Spurs. But I can see why a basketball fan wouldn't really want to watch the Spurs for the same reasons Vag listed.
Everybody has different tastes.

just looked at the Knicks schedule. looks like we go 39-43, give or take a few games.
obviously things can change due to injuries/players resting and trades

You can't win 30 games in any conference with an interior that bad. The Knicks are going to get fileted nightly.

Hater. Phil Jackson is going to average 17/12 with gritty D at PF.

Having Derek Fisher is just like having a coach on the floor.

It's amazing how a first round loss gets people's heads swoll

You're probably right. That was just a best case scenario record.
I have no confidence in this upcoming season.
I'm just saying this after having watched the Bobcats strugglecourt combo of Diaw, Mullens, Biyombo, and whoever the hell we had playing the 3 that year. You can't win 30 games in any conference with an interior that bad. The Knicks are going to get fileted nightly.

That's arguably a better frontcourt than what the Knicks will be putting out this year. That's legit horrifying and I'm sure the fictitious ghost of Coach Carter is weeping in his grave at the thought.
So you legit think that a frontcourt of Diaw/Mullens/Biyombo is better than Melo/Amare/Dalembert/Bargnani?
I'm not saying the Knicks have a good front court or anything, but that Bobcats lineup can contend for the worst frontcourt in the last 30 years.
You're right. It's not like the Spurs had a front court rotation of Timmy/Splitter/Diaw/Bonner or anything.

4 players, 120 games played

Amare is a shell of a shell. Bargnani is basically Byron Mullins with some cred at this point. Dalembert is the same exact player he was his rookie year (dumb as fuck and a waste of potential...) Melo is great but I'm think DY is mainly talking about the Bigmen..and even if you add Melo...he isn't going to stop them from getting ate alive inside on defense.
Diaw, fat and a lazy version and all, played D. Biyombo can play d (Mullins is just....holy fucking shit).
so it isn't as big of a gap as one may think.
Amare needs to have a comeback year, Sammy has to finally not be...Sammy. So they could be mediocre but history isnt on their side

This is going to sound fukked up but I'm really glad someone else got to live the Byron Mullens experience. There really just aren't words to describe it anymore.
Dalembert is on his last legs and likely won't last the season. Amare and Barg are two of the strongest defensive net negatives alive. Melo is a non-factor.
Defensively - which is what I was referring to - its got a chance to be just as bad. Easily the worst in the league imo.

Someone posted an Al Jefferson defensive "highlights" awhile back.
Those would actually be highlights for Amar'e/Bargs.

You guys seriously undervalue good coaching. Talent is really spread around the league now. There's only a handful of super strong front courts in the league left. The rest is just coaching and putting them in positions to succeed and motivating them to play defense. The only time Pau Gasol played defense his whole career is when he played for Phil. Ditto for Lamar and Bynum.
They won't be good, but if they're coached well, they'll be mediocre. Melo has the tools to be an absolutely incredible defender if someone can get through to him to try. Dalembert can already play D. They just need to get through to Amare OR Bargs on a contract year to hustle. I think they'll be alright up front.
Derek Fisher is a good coach… Since when?
Fisher isn't the coach. He's Phil's puppet. Those guys are playing for Phil's approval just like the Miami big 3 were playing for Riley's.
Boogie just went down in Chicago.
While USA Basketball reconvened in Chicago today, DeMarcus Cousins went down during practice due to injury.
The Sacramento Kings center injured his right knee in the first of two mini-camp practices as Team USA prepares for World Cup action later this month. Following practice, USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo told reporters in Chicago that the Sacramento Kings big man will undergo an MRI and will not play in Team USA’s friendly exhibition against Brazil on Saturday evening.
Good coaching can only shift strengths and weaknesses of a roster around so much. It'd be entirely different if the Knicks had some insane backcourt pressure or hyper capable wings. They don't though. And even if Fisher is the GOAT rookie coach, there isn't anything to work with.So you legit think that a frontcourt of Diaw/Mullens/Biyombo is better than Melo/Amare/Dalembert/Bargnani?Defensively?

Its also why I keep repping Dunlap (coach of the 7 win season) because in all honesty the Bobcats shouldn't have a won a single game with that roster. Dude literally put together a defense built entirely off trapping and forcing turnovers across full court so that the half court defense would have as few opportunities to fail as possible while giving the team more fastbreak chances than they'd ever get playing conventionally. Dude brought 2k cheesing to life.
That same roster has a front court that's roughly in the same area as NY's this year. Only difference is that the Knicks will be able to outscore a few teams every once in a while.

With the exception of a few defensive geniuses like Thibs and Pop who build brilliant schemes, the rest of the coaches either can motivate their guys to play hard on D and make proper X's and O's adjustments or they can't. Phil always can. Dude never practices defense but his players play hard on D and he'll make genius adjustments which are easy to follow (instead of doubling off wing, lets double off the weak side corner. etc.)
Amare and Bargs are in contract years, they're playing in a system that makes players look better than they are, especially if they can hit jump shots. If they get Melo to buy in and push his teammates he can take care of a lot of the motivating for them.
They have Bargs/Tolliver/Amare/Dalembert and they can even play Melo at the 4. They just need two of those guys to hustle and they'll be mediocre with the offense that Melo and the triangle will bring them.
I'm just suggesting they won't be as bad as that legendarily bad Bobcats front court...it's not a very high bar I'm expecting them to clear.

Yes. Having Andrea Bargnani in your lineup is like building your arena on an old indian burial ground.
Tyson leaving is huge. Even when he wasn't playing, his give a fuck at least made people consider playing defense every once in a while.
I'm still confused. Did I miss Phil Jackson naming himself coach of the Knicks?
Omg, he just name dropped Tolliver

Only time Tolliver got any playing time was under Don Nelson's last season as a coach at Golden State and under Kurt Rambis when he was coaching Minnesota to 17 wins :lol:I'm still confused. He was good for us for about 20 games then he just fell apart completely. Granted - the biggest reason he was on the court was because of his out of nowhere shooting to start the year off. He was our best shooter from 3 by far at one point. People kinda looked the other way when he was struggling defensively because that was his calling card but once that shot stopped falling.... man
I think he was benched for nearly two months straight. He couldn't guard anyone at all. Too slow and uncoordinated to guard 3s. To weak to guard 4s. Provided no weakside help at all. Dumb fouls. Can't rebound.
The guy was worthless on the court.

Favors should join up.
we need defense anyway, right??
sorry
already hit the quota on black players apparently
If Team USA were a horror movie, Derrick Rose spread the curse to team USA with Cousins and George going down.
