Longest I've gone without drinking soda is 30 days for a 30 day challenge. Jumped right back on point. And I can't do Diet drinks either.
Coke/Pepsi/Dr. Pepper/Sprite/Cactus Cooler or whatever orange flavored shit I'm in the mood for.
There's a million different sodas on the market though and I can't do any more than those.
I don't even drink liquor. Never been buzzed or drunk in my life. No weed, nothing. Soda is my one addiction I can't seem to quit.

Every drink other than water tastes terrible to me so quitting soda was super easy for me personally, but everyone has their own things.

It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes. A vegetarian diet is defined as one that does not include meat (including fowl) or seafood, or products containing those foods. This article reviews the current data related to key nutrients for vegetarians including protein, n-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc, iodine, calcium, and vitamins D and B-12. A vegetarian diet can meet current recommendations for all of these nutrients. In some cases, supplements or fortified foods can provide useful amounts of important nutrients. An evidence- based review showed that vegetarian diets can be nutritionally adequate in pregnancy and result in positive maternal and infant health outcomes. The results of an evidence-based review showed that a vegetarian diet is associated with a lower risk of death from ischemic heart disease. Vegetarians also appear to have lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension and type 2 diabetes than nonvegetarians. Furthermore, vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index and lower overall cancer rates. Features of a vegetarian diet that may reduce risk of chronic disease include lower intakes of saturated fat and cholesterol and higher intakes of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, soy products, fiber, and phytochemicals. The variability of dietary practices among vegetarians makes individual assessment of dietary adequacy essential. In addition to assessing dietary adequacy, food and nutrition professionals can also play key roles in educating vegetarians about sources of specific nutrients, food purchase and preparation, and dietary modifications to meet their needs

It can be fine but there's no convincing evidence that it's significantly better than a healthy balanced diet. Soda alone destroys whatever benefits one can get from not eating meat.
Besides, what sane person would willingly give up meat altogether?
Nothing wrong with being a vegetarian. Been one for 17 years and I'm fine.
I don't get why people get so offended or something when someone says they are a vegetarian. I only point it out whenever people ask me why I don't order a steak or a burger or something when going out. I never tell people to become a vegetarian, but people are always telling me they're gonna make me eat a steak or something. Gets really annoying.

I don't want to turn this into a slam on diets. But vegetarianism is a poor diet choice for 99.99% of the world. The sheer amount of planning, the absurd amount of food you need, and the comprehensive supplement pills you need mean most people are way too lazy for it to be effective. Not only which, it would be poor for the planet.
Most diets CAN work. Just as that above states. But it's the same as saying communism CAN work. It CAN. Doesn't mean it does.
Just as i believe, Paleo (i don't know how weird Paleo definitions got, i read some about it early and there weren't a ton of stupid restrictions then. My understanding is it's basically "unprocessed" food. Veggies / fruit/ proteins [and even grains, that are unprocessed but i'm unsure of that]) CAN work. But most people put weird interpretations to suit their needs.
Just like i know Keto works. It's horrible for you long term. but it will help you lose weight.
By the way, the ONLY soda I will drink now is the mexican sodas. so mexican fanta/coke/sprite. high quality shit lol
Communism can't work effectively anywhere because of information constraints, specialization issues, and basic free riding tendencies will inevitably lead to extremely poor welfare outcomes.
But moving past that, sure, vegetarianism is really impractical for most of the world, definitely. But, if you can afford it, it can work as well as most diets. Anyone following it for "superior health" is probably delusional, but someone who is emotionally affected by animal slaughter and captivity or just doesn't care about the taste of meat becoming a vegetarian doesn't really strike me as weird at all. And I'm not calling people who eat meat bastards or anything, I eat a lot of meat myself, just that some could be and are affected by the treatment of animals.
It can be fundamentally different than Paleo since Paleo is just meant as a diet whereas vegetarianism can be based around personal ideas of taste and morality.

The subject was raised to Curry on The Doug Gottlieb Show last week when asked if watching what James did would lead him to consider playing for his hometown Charlotte Hornets.
"I've always had thoughts about playing at home, what it would be like," said Curry, who is in the middle of a four-year, $44 million contract extension with the Warriors. "My dad played there for 10 years, and people around the Greater Charlotte area in North Carolina have done a lot for my family growing up, so you always think about it.
"Right now I feel like I've got three years left on my deal, so this isn't going to be an issue for me for a while. I love the Bay Area and where we are as a team trying to win a championship, and that's what it's all about. Of course everybody dreams about or thinks about what it's going to be like to play at home. Obviously if that opportunity comes along it's a different discussion."

That was a nice highlight mix of Burks, I'm interested to see how he does this.
And since Australia doesn't have an NBA team obviously, Bogut will "head home" to Utah in a few years, plan the fucking parade!

You're completely wrong. Vegetarianism is completely healthy and easily sustainable unless you're a top level athlete. The only deficiency I ever have is iron which lentils, bagels, and supplements cover.
As for health, dude just re-read the bolded above, you seem to have glossed over the significance of It.
It's totally fine that you eat meat, I never try to convert anyone. I'm just challenging the common myths and misconceptions that you and others subscribe to.
As IWMTB said it's also a moral issue for a lot of us, I know that's a part of the equation for my family based on theological/philosophical positions.
But I don't gloss over the fact that study after study after study and world health organizations conclude that vegetarians tend to have Lower risks if heart disease, cholesterol, and cancer than non vegetarians either.
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/webber-more-efficient-foods-less-waste/
As for the rest of your point about feeding the world. I'm assuming you haven't read this or other publications like it comparing energy consumption to meat vs grain production? It's significantly more efficient to produce grains and vegetables than to produce meat. Grains especially because they don't require high transport costs of money and energy due to refrigeration requirements.
It's Really easy to get 2,000 calories on a vegetarian diet - I go over most days and my go to breakfast has about 750

Yeah... the one thing you definitely can't say about vegetarianism is that it's more expensive than eating meat (vegan, maybe). Rice and beans are basically the cheapest meal out there and in many countries people can't really afford meat on a regular basis.

So I'm actually legitimately interested in the vegetarian/dieting talk----I don't know if it's worthy of another thread, but Zep made one and even though it's called weight lifting/loss, I think it'd be an appropriate discussion in there

His segments get a bit long and exhausting, but the topics of his rants (the US prison system, FIFA, payday loans) need to be taken down in the worst way.

Last thing I'll say is. Vegetarianism isn't usually a good weight loss plan. Meat eaters that go vegetarian often times find themselves stuffing their faces with carbs to feel full and then gain weight. Eating Paleo actually seems to be the most effective weight loss measure short term. Tons of athletes do it, my girlfriend even did it to lose 10 pounds quickly.
As a matter of long term health, vegetarianism beats practically every other diet out there. You have to be an idiot to be a vegetarian for 20-30+ years and not lower your chances of some of the major diseases out there.
On the flip side, I don't think someone can eat meat 2-3 times a day, eat as much as they want, when they want for 3 or 4 decades without serious health complications. And that's the original paleo diet framework before people started changing it to attempt to reduce it's risks and still keep it under the "paleo" name to maintain relevancy.
If you're trying to lose weight and lift though - paleo is a better option than vegetarianism for short term results
is everybody going to go home

That thread is full of fantasy wishes and hypothetical nonsense, not reality. As of now, payday loans are a viable last resort, unless you have something better in store to help people on the brink of homelessness or starvation.
Oh right, you don't. You'll just complain about the "injustice of the day to be outraged about" because you don't have to actually come up with the solution, you'll give some vague recommendation like "maybe the government should come up with XYZ magical solution overnight", and then argue that point until PTI starts and you'll forget all about said "injustice".

Have you worked in the lending industry? I have, not pay day loans, but lending, and I can tell you that predatory lenders do exist. Anyone charging more than 50% a year with stiff penalties to people who can barely afford it is engaging in predatory lending. Loans charging 300% are just insane.
The idea that "there's nothing better out there so stop complaining" only applies to a well intentioned industry doing it's best to make a profit and provide a good and valuable service. Payday lenders are vultures who pray on the poor and have incentives for keeping people in perpetual crushing debt. Any business where the model is to squeeze as much out of desperate people as possible deserves all the shit that comes their way.
