In actually important news:
RT @basketballtalk: Report: Metta World Peace changing name to Panda Friend http://t.co/AOGdYASKT4
I feel like he's one of those guys we won't fully appreciate until he's retired.
He can be dealt as soon as they officially have him as long as he isn't packaged with other player contracts.Did we dodge the Bennett Bomb?
praise jezbus
The Wolves can still trade him in mid-season, so…..
Bennett for Thad Young still lives. Maybe.
dammit.
Hey so do you guys remember when LeBron said he was looking forward to working with the young guys
I'm still impressed how tactful LBJ was with not mentioning Wiggins in his coming home letter.
It's easier when everything you do and say is scripted by Nike PR/Lawyer super soldier hybrids.
And nobody gives two shits about Anthony Bennett.
I legit want him on the Raptors. He just needs some of those good Scarborough doubles.
If im a Wolves fan i purely look at this as just getting the previous two #1 picks in return for a guy that was leaving anyway. It's really getting the No. 1 pick and a first. Anthony Bennett is salary filler.
By last season, his game, and those numbers, were completely different — only 36.9 percent of his shots came inside of 8 feet, and more than a third of his attempts occurred beyond the 3-point line.
As a 4, Love’s growing obsession with 3-point shooting is the most noteworthy aspect of his shooting behavior. Regardless of position, he is one of the league’s most active perimeter shooters. Only four players — Curry, Damian Lillard, Durant, and Love — took more than 450 shots “above the break” during the 2013-14 regular season.. Love’s favorite shot has become the left wing 3. During his rookie year, he took four shots from that area. Last season, he attempted 229 shots from the same zone, by far the most in the NBA. For context, J.R. Smith was second with 189 attempts. J.R. Smith: not a power forward, by the way.
The fact that Love is one of the best rebounders in the game only compounds this issue. He’s not just “technically a power forward” like Channing Frye. This guy is way more Barkley than Bargnani. He’s a true interior force, and every time he shoots one of those 3s, one of the league’s top rebounders becomes a rebounding spectator.

so lebron is slimming down so that Kevin Bosh can shoot threes? yeah, year one is gonna be fun to watch.
East playoffs should be fun this year. Cavs against Bulls/Heat finals will be great no matter what.
Heat aren't making it to the ECF. If injuries don't happen I see it being bulls vs. Cavs with the bulls winning (unless the cave get another above average defender) due to defense :ugeek:
Can't wait for the NBA season to get underway, right? Kobe Bryant knows exactly how you feel. Kobe, who played in only six games last year, has spent the last several months rehabbing after breaking a bone in his left knee in December 2013 and he is eagerly anticipating his return to the court. In an interview with Die Welt, Bryant explained just how eager he feels at the moment, saying, "I can’t wait to return to my duties on the court. I feel like a race horse that has been locked in a barn for months. I want to get out."
In addition to discussing his eagerness to play next season, Kobe also touched upon his bout with Father Time. "I know that my career is approaching its end. I know that as an athlete I have to prepare for life after the sport," Bryant admits. "Sure I have fear of life without basketball. This is completely normal. But I’m a person that likes to set new challenges in life."
RT @KBergCBS: As for extension agreement with Cavs, league source says Love may decide to wait until next summer and "do whatever LeBron does."Doesn't this contradict Woj saying an extension was in place?
hahahahaha
Not just that, but Wiggins wasn't aware of the trade when he was asked about it.RT @KBergCBS: As for extension agreement with Cavs, league source says Love may decide to wait until next summer and "do whatever LeBron does."Doesn't this contradict Woj saying an extension was in place?

Wolves at this point need to have a fire sale and fully commit to the tank. Get rid of Pek and KMart and let Dieng/LaVine/Wiggins develop.

LOL warriors. What does it matter what Kevin Love is gonna make it? He's one of the best at his position and you're not gonna be under the cap anyway.
1. Cavs will be an interesting team. Their offense could be amazing but as of right now where is the rim protection and Bron being the only perimeter defense all year has to be worrisome. Still, they're the faves to make the Finals and maybe even win it all.
2. lol Warriors keeping Klay. In 3 years when the Ws are trying to trade Klay Thompson and his max as they can't win 2 games in the 2nd round, they will look back and cry.
3. God, the Cleveland Cavs fell upwards like no one else ever. 3 #1 picks in 4 years is so absurdly lucky and without 1 of them, they don't get Lebron and Love.

I love how you say "time to tank" when they've been rebuilding since they traded Garnett in 2007. KG is going to retire before they get back to the playoffs and you want them to commit to another 3-4 years of losing? There's a line where you cross into super pathetic territory, and rebuilding your rebuild for the 3rd time in a row is exactly that line.
There's a point where you have to realize that being a so-called treadmill team actually represents a legitimate accomplishment, that it rescues you from being a truly trash franchise that everybody wants to leave.
It sucks for them that the West is so stacked right now, but what they need more than anything is to get pieces that compliment Wiggins and fucking go for it, even if "it" is a first round knockout. Get back on the map and raise the value of the stuff you already have.

The Wolves have a really hard time getting good players and they already have a couple under contract with Rubio, Pekovic and Dieng. Do not let them go. This third rebuild attempt needs to be adding to Rubio, Pekovic and whatever Wiggins and LaVine become.
Kyrie/Delly
Miller/Waiters
Lebron/Marion
Love/Thomspon
Varejao/???
Should be a fun team to watch until Love pulls a Boozer next summer.

Is Love even as good as Toronto-era Bosh? We forget, but Bosh was fucking good before he went to the Heat and sacrificed his style of play and became a defensive-minded big to help the team win.

He's better than Bosh offensively, better shooter, better passer, but Bosh's defense is better.

Everyone made fun of Bosh's defense until he joined the Heat. Toronto had one of the worst defenses all-time while he was there. Love's a better defensive rebounder, which is part of defense.
Love gives no rim protection, but his defensive numbers aren't terrible, either.

I saw this with the Raps, everyone wants off the sinking ship when you're "building" and the franchise sucks, nobody wants to be in that city, etc. Now they have positive momentum and everyone's happy and Lowry's signing in Toronto instead of LA/Houston/Miami. I used to be one of those people who thought you had to stay in the draft until you get a top 10 player and another legit all star to help him, but now I think just maintaining a winning rep and adding guys when the opportunity presents is a better situation overall, even if you're not a contender. OKC isn't a "model," it's just a thing that happened.

The thing everybody needs to remember about Toronto era Bosh is that he was starting alongside Andrea fucking Bargnani:
After 2007, everyone told San Antonio to just blow it up and start from scratch. Then they said the same thing in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011...
Is there really any one correct way? Portland was a "middling" mid-30 win team, then they drafted Damian and won 54 games two seasons later. The "moneyball" move was to blow it all up and tank for draft picks.
And the fucking Cavaliers. The fucking Cavaliers. They've been terrible since Lebron left, they even tried to win last year with all of the moves they made, still sucked complete ass, lucked into another #1 pick, and now they're most likely gonna win the East despite their last two #1 picks being traded.
Who the fuck knows.

I know that if nothing else, being on a playoff team gives a player an aura, and being on a bottom feeder gives that same player a tarnished "what has he ever done" loser image. It becomes a lot easier for winning teams to make good trades, imo.

The three luckiest things that happened to Cleveland were the #1 pick from this year, they live where LeBron wants to play and can have the most power, and the Heat had gotten gang banged in historical fashion by the Spurs in the finals.
There's more than one path to success, but if everyone on that Sixers roster stays healthy they're pretty much going to be OKC East. And maybe even scarier than that. But I've already lived the Wolves doing the exact same thing. Between 2009 and 2011, they won 32 games. That's combined. They were worse than that Cavs teams that lost a million games in a row. It was totally miserable.
Granted, they blew it because outside of Rubio, they didn't draft well at all, but I have negative interest in revisiting that again. Keep good players you already have in your uniform.

i can't wait til lebron mentions that Love is the best player he ever played with.
He'd be right.
Wade was probably better that first year. Just a lot of overlap in their skill sets.

Wade played just about as well as he could have first year. He was arguably better than LBJ in those first finals until the complete opposite of final form happened.
I don't think Irving will ever be as good as Wade, and Love is probably a wash with Bosh, but their skills sets MIGHT compliment LeBron a little better...on one end at least.

That is a big ass if.
Noel look like he was about to die everytime he hit the floor. MCW is also fragile as fuck (and maybe not even that good). Saric may suck or never come over. And while Embiid is a gdlk troll already, dude got nicked up heavy in college.
I'm not going to pop bottles and expect the most Sixer outcome until proven otherwise.

The Wolves were a non-playoff team last year and just traded one of the eight best players in the league for a 19 year old defensive wing who can't dribble, shoot, or pass. His absolute ceiling is Paul George and it took George until his 4th year to be a good offensive player. They're going to win 32 games at maximum for the next few years. Winning 23 games without Kmart and Pek I don't think is any different from a culture or complementary option perspective than winning 28 games with Pek and Kmart.
Though the next two drafts are supposed to be terrible.
