The thing is, however, overpaying for coaches has zero impact on a team's future as long as the billionnaire who own the team is willing to spend, and it seems like the new owners of the Warriors don't give a shit.
5y/$25m for a first year coach that has never even coached at ANY level with no options?
Wtttrf
If you had hundreds of millions of dollars and owned an NBA team don't tell me you wouldn't do things just to fuck over the Knicks.
I'll laugh if Melo leaves NY for the Warriors
traded David Lee for a bunch of scrubs
Trade scrubs and every draft pick until 2040 for Melo
Trade Melo for David Lee
Sounds very Dolan

what a great season. i like where the blazers are going, had them at the 7/8 spot and a first round exit at the beginning of the year. terry stotts is a wild card for me, though.
"What should we do after hiring a TV analyst with no head coaching experience and finding out he sucks at coaching? I know, let's hire a TV analyst with no head coaching experience!"
I hope Plan B is Phil coaching for a year so he can groom an assistant.

I wonder how it all went down though? Did Phil really not want to pay his basketball soul mate or did Jimmy D get involved? So who's the next potential Phil surrogate? Somebody get Tyron Lue on the phone...

Get ready for some Fisher.
Public opinion coming from other places so far is very interesting. Alot of people seem to be angry at Lacey for firing Jackson and then signing another unproven (less?) coach.

I want to see a Mark Madsen coached Knicks team so bad.
Houston fans decided to open their mouth, and well, the result was predictable:

McDermott came in at an 8'7 standing reach, he has no chance at playing PF in the NBA.
Jordan Adams got in shape, he's going to be great.

Imo a few things involved:
1) Money. GS dropped bank on Kerr. He's not worth $5M/yr. Jackson kept the NY offer restrained, but reasonable (it sounded as much by Kerr's words)
2) Family proximity. Seems like his entire family is in California. Can't blame him.
3) Not living up to being Jackson's protege. Honestly, that's a huge stress.
4) Having a team in full form. We don't know who the Knicks will consist of next season, and neither did Kerr. It seemed like he wanted to have an easier team to coach, as opposed to a challenge, which is a red flag to me.
too many words for some obvious shit
Phil propped up Kerr in order to get everybody excited and Kerr said well shit, might as well get paid in a great situation
there's really no way around the fact that Phil got played on some rough shit by Kerr
quite frankly its embarrassing and I'd be really concerned if I were Melo

Melo and Wall on the same team....
The three best options Phil can go to now are Brian Shaw, Mark Jackson, and Phil himself. Carmelo would love to play with Phil and Mark Jackson, and Marc would come cheap (loves NY and wanted to coach there). Problem is Marc isn't a triangle guy, and to get Brian Shaw Knicks would have to give compensation.

Brian Shaw is already coaching Denver, so he's not even an option.
I'm sure Mark Jackson could co-exist with Phil after being unable to co-exist with Jerry West and John Stockton.

YUP.
The idea that Phil will coach. that pile of dung to 30 wins is absurd. He's not gonna fuck up his stats like that.

Who gives a fuck what Melo wants? The sooner he leaves is the sooner the Knicks are forced to go through the proper rebuild that they actually need.
Hire Derek Fisher for the garbage ass roster and slowly work from there. Melo can have fun in Chicago, Houston or Dallas.

5) He has a previously existing strong relationship with Lacob, is a friend of the family and was going to hire his son before he left Phoenix.
6) No psycho New York media sticking daggers in your back from day 1.
7) No Dolan.
Honestly, you don't have to dissect this one too much. He took the better job with a situation he trusts more and better money.
The best option for the Knicks is obviously to get JVG back. They'll just have to give him an offer he can't refuse.

I would buy NBA League Pass just for this.
How did Gary Harris end up with an 8'0" standing reach? That's really terrible.
He also got measured at 6'2" instead of his listed 6'4"

yea but when has phil ever been about tank life though
how are we not posting Randle numbers?
Ok the wingspan sucks but is he taller than expected? 6'9 in socks but not shoes? Am I reading that right? If he could be 6'10 in shoes...
Julius Randle measured 6' 7.75 in socks, 6-9 in socks. 7' 0" wingspan. 250 pounds. 8' 9.5" standing reach. Solid, but not elite.
Julius Randle's wing span (7 feet) measured 2 inches shorter than the avg player at his height (6-9).

He's 6'7.75 in socks, 6'9" in shoes, Ford misprinted. His reach is the same as Millsap's, a bit better than Anthony Bennett's.

fucking Ford, he also added an inch to James Youngs height lol
top 10 pick at 6'8 lol
Edit: Randle saying he didnt get a chance to show off his jumper at Kentucky because of the system lol.
Bruh, guys were playing 3 feet off you every time you caught the ball on the elbows--you could have made a living with the short jumper if you had it in you.

True, but him asking Melo to take a pay cut when we all know Melo ain't about that life doesn't really scream immediate contender either.
