By Nelo Ice Go To PostHaven’t watched the review but yes Division is definitely worth checking out again. Rolling with a 4 man squad in the dark zone is amazing. Did that the other day and no one wanted to fuck with us.*still triggered*
Some quick thoughts about the Xbox One X after a couple days.
It plays games real well, though. There's plenty of aspects of the system that I haven't used, but those are my first impressions.
- No CEC support fucking blows. I have to reach for my TV remote when I want to use the Xbox. I often have the TV on with Chromecast or the PS4 so I can't use the codes to toggle the power of the TV to compensate. Even the Switch supports CEC!
- The OS is very snappy when navigating menus. I like that a lot.
- Just like the PSN store, the Xbox store is so fucking laggy. I hit the 'B' button to back out a choice and it doesn't register for a full second or more. I have to seriously watch myself from accidentally pressing the button too many times.
- Download times are also real slow. I have a 50 mbps down connection and was averaging about 35 down from the store. This is while hardwired into the router. My PC, which is wirelessly connected, uses my full bandwidth when downloading from the Windows store, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
- The TV calibration screens are real helpful. I approve.
- Not supporting generic USB wireless headsets is annoying. I'm pretty sure the PS4 also suffers from a similar issue.
- The UI tries to do too much and feels sloppy and overwhelming to me as a result. I just want the PS3 crossbar back people!

The Elite controller is real fucking nice. Solid grips. Solid thumbsticks that just feel heavy when you release them (I love the 'thunk' when they reset to neutral). The easily changeable paddles, thumbsticks, and d-pad is awesome. The hair-trigger setting for the triggers is super easy to set.
The paddles are still taking me some time to get used to. They are almost too sensitive. Can't set the controller down on the couch to go take care of something because even my little lap dog moving around on the couch will cause enough shift to activate a button.
I have tiny hands, but the controller feels too compact for me. It is the same size as the normal Xbox One controller but my hands cramp up a bit after a couple hours (this is probably just a sign I should stop and take a break, though). I think I just want another controller the size of the original Duke again.
Oh, the carrying case it came with is a nice touch. It even has a little pedestal thing to keep all the accessories together. Very impressed with the controller, overall.

FYI -- Double tap the sync button on the controller to disable the paddles when you don't want them active.
The OS takes some time getting used to, but you have a lot more control over it than you do the PS4.
The download time impressions is interesting to me. My Xbox always downloads stuff faster than PSN (install is another story). MS did such a good job on the system design of the X though. Much smaller than the Pro, and doesn't sound like a jet. My Pro can get fucking loud at times.
By rodeoclown Go To PostThe best console dashboard is still the original NXE. (The one before the awful Metro update.)Was that one of the 360 dashboards or one of the earlier XBone dashboards? I never owned a 360 (except for a controller I used a ridiculous amount on PC) or an XBone until now.

My Pro can get fucking loud at times. It is faster than the PSN downloads for me (I get like 15-25 mb there instead of the 25-40 with the Xbox store). Still, just much slower than I expected. I recently setup a new network so maybe it has to do with that? I kinda doubt it, though, since the Windows store on PC is so much quicker.

Be thankful you never saw the original Xbox One dash! You're multiple redesigns in and they finally got it to the point where it's really usable and snappy. It used to take ages to load screens like my games and apps. The new pop up menu when you press the Xbox button is new to this iteration, too, and is a godsend.

It was really snappy with Kinect
I kinda want a Kinect just for the dance games but all my friends that would play them with me moved across the country. :(
Guess I just need to make new friends.

I have never owned a Kinect in any form! Don't you put that on me, Smokey!
That original XO dash with all the metro tiles was the worst. Remember Xbox Snap?

The Kinect adapter for One X isn't even listed on MS store, and goes for like $200 on Ebay.
It's ded

You're supposed to burn those memories, rodeo
funny thing about kinect is MS basically had the tech for amazon echo and google home shit like one hundred years before anyone else but shoehorned it in half baked with the console instead, rendering both an impressive technology and the gaming console itself complete shit
I'm sure the tech behind Kinect has or will find it's way into augmented reality devices, VR, etc. The tech was actually impressive, but the application in gaming and the decision be a main focus of a console, was awful.
im surprised augmented reality isn't bigger than it is right now to be honest, was sad when google glass got scrapped
By Smokey Go To PostI'm sure the tech behind Kinect has or will find it's way into augmented reality devices, VR, etc. The tech was actually impressive, but the application in gaming and the decision be a main focus of a console, was awful.Their decision to force the Kinect issue on 360 and then Xbox One was a significant cause in them losing all the momentum they built the first several years of the 360. If these rumors about their current projects (Fable, Perfect Dark, Mech Assault) are true, this is really the first time their first party will be back on track in ages.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postperfect dark?It was first spotted by someone peeking at the Xbox API. An editor for gamesindustry later tweeted he'd been hearing of a Perfect Dark reboot for some time. Apparently, The Coalition is helping development in some form.
thats my shit–receipts?
Wow, speaking of Perfect Dark, I redownloaded Rare Replay yesterday because for some odd reason, I wanted to go back to the PD remake that came out on 360.
That game was so far ahead of its time in MP, it's crazy.

I bought Civ Vi from Humble Bundle yesterday. Did the tutorial and before I knew it, 2 hours had passed. That shit seems deadly.
bought a 40 dollar ps+ subscription couple months back that i've yet to activate...considering flipping the switch for monster hunter

Made it so easy to create your own challenges and scenarios. The weapons were fantastic, too.

First time turning on my PS4 in weeks......damn this is what a real controller with real sticks feels like.
I've never played it, but MWR sounds like the worst of Activision monetization. Map packs cost money ($20!) and it locks some mulitplayer weapon unlocks behind lootboxes.
This is the extent of my Call of Duty knowledge.

reading the nintendo direct hype thread on era...wtf are some of these clowns on--they're asking for fallout 4, dishonored 2 and motherfukken pubg on switch. lmao

PUBG at a super cinematic 640x480.
As a Fallout 4 expert that put 40 hours into that game, you should not play Fallout 4. Don't ask for this. You don't want it.
"fallout 4 could work on switch because it runs on the same engine as skyrim" --something someone said lolololol
I mean, fallout 4 probably could run on the Switch, especially with some downgrades. Seems to scale well on my little bro PC which has parts from 2009 or something.

been playing it all morning :x

By HottestVapes Go To PostPUBG at a super cinematic 640x480.Good enough for cs 1.6, good enough for pubg.
Wait, nvm, 800x600 was the resolution of choice back then, iirc.
By Smokey Go To Postbeen playing it all morning :xSome people play with eggtimers next to them to force them off. "One more turn" is a powerful drug.

I put 90 hours into Fallout 4 and I regret every minute of it.
I finished Night in the Woods. The back half of this game is.... not great.

The polish has started to wear off Ass Creed origins within about 3 hours lol
Went for an assassination that I wanted to go cleanly and someone awkwardly spotted me--the main target ended up wanting to join in on the combat, I really wanted to just be killed as evidence that I couldn't go back to those old playstyles but I kind of just awkwardly dispatched everyone just like I did in the old games--just with much much less finesse, before killing my target.
The good news is the main character might be my favorite protagonist since Ezio and this is the first time I've found the mythos reasonably interesting in a while, so I'll continue a little more, but my disappointment is starting to rise.

By data Go To PostI kind of want to get SFV Arcade Edition next week
but MHW and DBZF…
Yeah, I would totally be on SFVAE if DBFZ weren't coming out right after. Sorry Capcom, your timing sucks. Shoulda hit before Christmas.

Speaking of, are there any deals on PS+ out there now? Thinking of getting back on.
i got mine for 40 on amazon. if you aren't already doing this, follow wario64 on twitter and have it so you get phone notifications from him. a lot of junk i'm not interested in but when he posts a random price error for the thing you want at 12:30 AM it's totally worth it.
