By The Frankman Go To PostLike… if you're new to the Monster Hunter world and are interested in getting it, play Dragon Project first.on mobile as a try-before-you-buy. Similar enough mechanics and focus on monster hunting/building equipment. Much lighter on story but if you like that game, you'll probably like Monster Hunter.
Also the create-a-face controversy is KILLING me
that's a really nice advice Frankman. i appreciate it but i would never touch a mobile game.
By Kibner Go To PostI forget, was it actually two main cpu's or devs just using one of the extra sound chips (wtf Sega) as an extra main cpu?
IIRC the Saturn used dual SH2s. You may be thinking of the Genesis, which used the same Yamaha chip they used as CPU on the Master System (Z-80) as a sound chip. Which was why they had easy backwards compatibility with an adaptor. I'm kind of surprised nobody copied that approach (actually, did some of the Playstations? I remember hearing they had PS1 chips which is why they had such easy BC there).

2 main cpus, 2 gpus, a sound processor, a sound controller, a dedicated CD-ROM controller, and a co-processor for one of the main cpu's that also has sound processor capabilities.
I think it was maybe that last chip that some devs used for better performance.

By livefromkyoto Go To PostWTF Polygon saying MS is looking to acquire EA or Valve.I'm sure. Neither will happen, though.
I wonder if they wouldn't be able to pluck certain IP from EA, though. Save something like Dead Space or Command and Conquer from extinction.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostWTF Polygon saying MS is looking to acquire EA or Valve.theres ur problem
by allah I swear that if polygon have ever been right about anything I will grow a tree and once it is fully grown I will hang my neck from it
I mean, they could if they wanted.
It's just that their Xbox division makes them negative fucking money. It's a total money pit. And that sort of investment would in no way guarantee Xbox not to continue to be a massive money pit.

By rodeoclown Go To PostValve doesn't even make video games anymore.Pretty much. lol
All the people that made Half-Life are long gone. The Portal team is gone. They sold Turtle Rock.
They don't develop games anymore. I don't know how much clearer that can be. The last time they put out a game was Dota 2 five years ago.

By Laboured Go To PostI mean, they could if they wanted.I mean if they would waste so much money for EA, they wouldn't make shit exclusive anyway.

Sport licenses or at least Fifa is bound to be multiplatform by contract and they would lose so much money by making them exclusive. Therefore it's more like the Minecraft situation with every platform involved, but I still doubt they're gonna spend so much cash on that.
Just Polygon having nothing to report on.
If they buy EA they'll either have to give up some of the biggest IP's, like FIFA and Madden, or just go full on third party publisher.
By rvy Go To PostI was gonna say
unless you really like steam or something
They still update their games though, and seeing as 80% of my gaming is cs:go... I would be upset.

It’s not that I really like Steam, but I’d hate to see Steam end up like a bastardised version of GFWL, or worse.
Not fussed on their past games, like. L4D1/2 were kinda fun, wasn’t a fan of Half Life.
I don't doubt Microsoft is looking to make acquisitions. They have a subscription service that needs more games in order to sell it now.
The studios they're far more likely to bring in as first party are going to be ones that already have existing relationships with. It'll be much smaller scale like Playground or Undead Labs. This EA talk is nonsense.

Itd be nice if they just focused on actually building good dev relationships again
EA acquisitions = hustling backwards

But how many of them actually make sense to acquire? Probably just the two I mentioned before. They'd be better off founding new studios, since what they're investing in now is largely for the next Xbox anyway. The best bet they can make is a couple of smaller acquisitions, founding a handful of new studios, and expanding Rare.

It's a pretty enjoyable game no matter how you play it. Solo is very different than playing with a group, but can feel a lot more rewarding because of how much more tense it is, since you're having to avoid confrontations, etc.
Polygon got yall shook
They got the most 💰 out of all 3. Start using it again. I'm down for them becoming M$ just to witness forum fukkery again .

Where are your receipts outside of PS4 is destroying everything, because it's ahead of the 360 at the same point.

World wide? lol
It's a American/UK system and they treat it as such. I don't think it's breaking news that Xbox isn't selling or even on sale in Indonesia,Czech Republic, or Japan.

what are you talking about. you said it was ahead of 360 and i asked you if that claim is true world wide (spoiler: it isn't)
xbox one is also regressing while 360 is about to hit the kinect boom. year 4 360 outsold year 4 one.
one will never ever in a million years sell 80 million. 360 sold very well in europe.

Sea of Thieves is tops on Twitch again. It's been top 3 basically the entirety of this beta. Amazon pre-orders are sold out right now.
It's gonna be okay. Talks of Rare's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

360 was them making a concerted effort to be note world wide. Xbox one is not hence why I lold at we. In the US/UK which is what its primarily targeting now, I think it's ahead. But ok.
And saying they're not moving units isn't true. The Wii U didn't move units. The Xbox is doing ok on it's own and recovering the mess that was launch, but compared to PS4 it's getting punted into the sun.
By Pennywise Go To PostBut Phil Senpai went to Japan to sign all those studios.I mean, the Xbox is getting Japanese games like Monster Hunter and Valkyria Chronicles now. A couple years ago, most Japanese games were skipping it entirely. His efforts to get those companies on board seems to be more successful than Mattrick, no?

In what way are they appealing to Japan or anywhere else like 360 did with Blue Dragon and Lost Odessey, tales , etc.
I'll wait.
