I'm playing Fortnite just fine with friends but MonHun is down.
By Smokey Go To PostAt this Halo 5 FFA tourney. It's not 1v1.
What's it smell like?
By Mariosalic Go To PostI'm playing Fortnite just fine with friends but MonHun is down.*shrug*
I also think it's a PSN issue, because when I tried to do connect to any online MH feature, it fails to connect to a PSN service.

You cannot join the quest because you have not progressed enough in the story"
This is so dumb. You can't play the story coop without fuckery.

Anyone else got up to 3 $10 coupon codes from Best Buy for buying anything $10 or up with in store pick up last month?. If so the codes expire next Saturday or you can go in store and use them on a gift card. Can confirm that works.
By MonadL Go To PostFinished crafting the Anja set. This game is infuriating and addicting at the same time.have you played the older games? How does it control
By blackace Go To Posthave you played the older games? How does it controlbetter than before tbh. there's still no tracking but the controls themselves are better (yes, shots fired at nintendo)

By blackace Go To Posthave you played the older games? How does it controlLik DY said, definitely better than before. Biggest positive is that you no longer using a fucking touch screen to control the camera.
Coral Highlands is fucking nuts from an artistic perspective.
By DY_nasty Go To Postwhat's a psp that was before my timeLmao
By blackace Go To Postlast one I played was on the PSPIt's been so long since I played it on psp. But the combat controls are a little better just due to having an extra pair of shoulder buttons and an extra analog stick. It's basically the same scheme, though.
Chat shortcuts are easy with the right stick.

Gotta figure out where and how this bullshit bugged in this game so I can buy the house in Windhelm god damnit.
The Wii U must have really held BOTW back performance wise because Oddysey looks pretty good while being 60fps.
Sorry Kibner, was finishing off some expedition stuff and it seems you can't do any squad organisation unless you're in Astera
By Facism Go To PostSmokey, did you win the Halo tournament?
No. Made it to and played in Finals round though. It goes by total points depending on your placement by each round . Think I got 4th overall.

Good effort lad.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostIs monster hunter good
By s y Go To PostIts…monster hunter.Pretty much. It's one of the better, if not best MH games to play just because of extra shoulder buttons, extra analog stick, screen resolution, and framerate.
It is what every MH game is, though. Combat is a lot about positioning to attack the part you want (no aim assist on anything) and timing to make your attack without getting punished (no animation canceling out of just about any attack).
The game loop is grindy to the max, but at least makes you feel as if you are making progress. Kill or capture monsters to get materials, use materials to make better gear, use better gear to kill or capture tougher monsters. You will need to farm monsters many times to get all the resources you need, especially if you are trying to upgrade every weapon instead of just your favorite(s) for some insane reason.
There are various other systems that work to give you buffs and consumables to make fights easier. There's also one to help get you some bonus mats from different things over time, but it's not reliable and doesn't give that much back.
The menus are clunky as all hell. Really, that can describe most of the game, but the extra input options on these controllers makes it not quite as bad.
The multiplayer added an SOS flare thing that broadcasts that you need help. Other people can join your quest, even if they are not on your room server. You can search for SOS requests through the quest board that handles all the quest stuff. It's made it much easier to quickly get into a group that is already doing the thing you want or to have a good chance of getting others to join you doing your thing without having to do the annoyingly slow process of everyone getting ready, marking that they are ready, and the leader launching the quest.
TLDR: it's a slightly more accessible MH game, but it is still a MH game. it is a good-to-great entry in the series (too early to tell), but it does nothing to distance itself from the trappings of previous entries. a prettier multi-player PS2 game, basically.
Bluepoint doing outstanding work with that port
Monster Hunter World makes me want a proper sequel to the GOAT co-op game aka Lost Planet 2

Fixed
Also that reminds me what a disaster the handling of Lost Planet was.
By Smokey Go To PostThe only things that I disliked watching that video were some of the lighting decisions (like the lack of sun shafts in the plains) and the actual cinematic scenes sometimes placing a tad too much focus on Wander instead of the background. Sometimes, the background shows more detail than I feel it should, but that may just be an RNG type of thing when it comes to cloud cover and such.
i played like the first 10 hours of MonHun and it wasn't hard at all. just stand next to the monster and mash some buttons until it dies. i'm sure there will be tough ones later one but yeesh. that's a lot of time you need to invest before it gets interesting. i would give the first 10 hours a 4/10.
i was basically planing my vaction with friends while mashing the R2 button for 10 hours.

At work looking at Linux stuff and somehow came across Assembly. Started reading about it. Wikipedia says that assembly was the best language to get the best performance out of the Sega Saturn. Well that uh, explains a lot. Why would you do that to yourself as a programmer
It also says NBA Jam was developed in Assembly o_o

I am fully prepared to be "well, actually"'d on this.
Oh, one of the better programming algorithm books uses its own made-up assembly language for a made-up machine in order to demonstrate and practice writing algorithms on that level.
By Mariosalic Go To PostAssembly is hell.I only did enough in college to understand why I'm cool with high-level languages.
i still have nightmares.
i know nothing about programming but even i know rollercoaster tycoon being coded entirely in assembly was ridiculous
I also found that YUM which widely used to install packages, actually came from Yellowdog Linux distro that was built to run on the original PlayStation

Similar enough mechanics and focus on monster hunting/building equipment. Much lighter on story but if you like that game, you'll probably like Monster Hunter.

The Saturn was crazy. It actually used 4 sided polygons instead of triangles. It had parallel processors before average developers had figured out stuff like multithreading.
I'm reading Console Wars right now and Sega of America was actually working with Sony & Ken Kutaragi back in 1992/93 and wanted the original Playstation to be their 32-bit system. What could have been.

digital foundry retro has done a couple episodes re the saturn. the one on symphony of the night is especially great at looking at the weird quirks of how it did 2d on the ps1 and how the saturn's architecture fucked up the port.
