By Hitch Go To PostLike people didn't delight in shitting all over nms before and after it came outall warranted tbh
NMS always had potential.
Some saw its charm and the possibilities of what it could be. And their faith is slowly being rewarded.

Would love to have been a fly on the wall during development
Wonder if we'll ever truly know if they were lying about the state and scope of the game, or if they really intended to live up to the trailers and features promised. With the amount of work they seem to have put into it since launch, I'm erring on the side of the latter where I was very cynical about it before.

I don't think they were lying, they just weren't big enough to meet their own expectations.
NMS is a passion project and it shows, but they bit off more than they could chew, got a massive hype machine going, Sony thrusts them on the e3 stage - almost everyone that was excited for the game, myself included projected our hopes and dreams on to the game without much thought that the team that has to deliver it is not even the size of a football team.
On top of that set backs like the Guildford flooding and the writing was on the wall.
The game was in a rough state at launch, but shots like these...

Sean Murray just couldnt keep his mouth shut during the months before No Man's Sky came out. If he just came out to say there's no multiplayer, it's fine, but he hinted on a lot of things that just didn't turn out the way it was when the game came out.
At least he's no Peter Molyneux. He doubled down and worked on the game for free, and kept adding stuffs. Looks like they didn't do too bad either, considering from interviews they had massive profits from making the game.

What was the story in nms in the end, I remember hearing about some journey to the centre of the universe.

By Smokey Go To Postso i found the underground alien cargo boxes after using the 3 alien keys to open it…
worth 19 milly
This helps. I was really at $3.7 million before getting this item. I had something worth 2 million that i didnt sell. I found this in one of the alien ruin sites.
If you didn't know there are ruins that are scattered on planets. You can find them by using the signal booster and searching for artifacts, or getting lucky and coming across one on your own. Once you get to the alien site and talk to the "thing" it'll say do you want to learn more about their language or history. Choose history. Then a purple icon resembling a chest will pop up on your screen. Go there, these are the alien ruins.
At this ruins there are underground, hidden chests. You have to use the scanner to find them, and the terrain weapon to dig to them. You'll get a key. You need 3x keys, and then you can unlock the large alien crate, which is also hidden. It will always give you something of high value and in my case $19 million. I haven't seen anybody get higher than that, got lucky as hell. I did a few more sites after this on different planets, and the two items i got were each worth 400k-500k.
Once you get a freighter you can send them out on missions that can take anywhere from 1h to 4hr+ hours. They return with really high value items and money (if they don't get rekt while doing their mission). If you do this, you're passively making money while you do whatever else in the game. Also sse nanite clusters to upgrade your scanners and tools at space stations. There are S class scanners that give you 25k per scan, and 100k+ for scanning fauna.
I still haven't gone back to base building either, where I think you can set up grow farms of high value items once you get it up and running.

Do I need to constantly maintain my freighter? like have scientists on board growing stuff etc?
I got a 17 slot one, but before that I had a 19 slot one, but for some reason thought I could hoard freighters and the 19 slot one disappeared.

No. They just get sent out to do missions. In my case I only have one at the moment. The last 2 missions I've sent it out on it's broken down or something has happened and I have to call it back in for repairs. But it looks like you can assign up to 5 freighters to get sent on a mission at a time, presumably to take on the harder and more rewarding missions .
You can hoard star ships that you find on planets (from 'distress signals'). There's an option to 'add to collection'. If you have a freighter it will show up there. Those ships will probably require varying amounts of work to clear out the damage parts before being usable, or you can do what i did, and break down some of the parts into resources and sell them.
You can add to your freighter fleet by buying them. They have a purple icon next to them in space.
You can use this for deciding where to buy/sell stuff from

Loved the single player. Unistalled afterwards without touching the multi. Sue me.
The end of Metro Last Light is just about the most physically stressful thing I’ve ever played. The only way I can manage my oxygen filters to have enough to get through some sections is to keep taking the gas mask off, only putting it back on to breathe clean air for a second. Listening to this guy dying and gasping for air in my headphones is making my throat constrict.

Killing all the enemies and the boss and getting into the church before time was up was legit one of the most stressful things I've done in a game.

By Bold 2 in One Go To PostFolks still keen on cloud-based consoles…I would to if the ISP here isn't shit. There's definitely a market for it though.
It took me 2 years, but I finally beat Metro Last Light. It wasn’t bad, the world and scenario were pretty good. As a game it was just alright, I seemed to put it down a lot, and finished it out of an act of will as much as anything. Still, I got my $7.99 worth.
Releases a little too close to RDR2 to bother adjusting my holiday for it :(
Is there gonna be DLC for GoW? As good as it is, I'm never gonna replay it.

Now I’m trying to polish off PS4 Strider.
I love this series. Arcade Strider? NES? PS1 Strider 2? I played the shit out of all those games. The gameplay in this one is pure butter, maybe the best in the series. The fan service callbacks to old characters, integrating the less linear design of the NES game, that’s all awesome. It’s like, I’m the exact guy they made this for.
But I’m finally able to put my finger on why I’ve had this fairly short game since nearly the PS4 launch but never finished it - the encounter design is pure garbage. It’s like they somehow took NES Godzilla as their design document.
You’re supposed to be this agile dexterous ninja, but the game has you constantly being pegged and knocked over with little shots from random enemies. Constantly hemmed in in kill rooms and forced to tank your way through. And they knew it, too, because they made this constant barrage do tiny amounts of damage.
This is not fun. This is not cool. Why did they do this?
There are enough good elements to keep me going since it’s a short game, but this was really a missed opportunity to revive the series.

Fuck's sake, as soon as I get everyone to level 3, it gives me a level 1 boss fight. Gonna have to give it a go with my bunch of chumps who don't have a healing spell between them, or maybe run some medium dungeons until it gives me a low level vestal/occultist on the stagecoach
Beat Strider. It gets better in the back third when you have enough abilities to deal with everything in the manner you’d expect. I wound up liking it better. Still, I’d like to see them take another crack at this some day with the same controls to fix what they did wrong. The concept would also seem ripe for a Platinum-style character action game, considering all those seem to be practically based around the way he controls in the Marvel vs. Capcom games anyway.
